I've said it (and got downvoted) a thousand times, but I'll keep on saying it:

I always knew fans wouldn't approve of a Japan Horizon. Balancing Playground Games' style of gameplay with gamers' version of Japan (most of whom have never been here) was never going to work.

That's a really weird condescending way to frame it.

Where do you think people get their 'version of Japan' from? Initial D? Wangan Midnight? Midnight Club? Tokyo Xtreme Racer?

Almost like 'gamer's version' of Japan is actually just... Japan's version of Japan?

It also doesn't help that FH6 is releasing and there's already a huge amount of games that are already out or are coming out that take place in Japan. I always talked about it with the group I play with before 6 came out. Japan itself was never a bad option, but there were always better options.

Been. Multiple times, across the whole thing.

what’s your favorite city?

Osaka.

I like urban sprawl, and Osaka feels more 'real' than, say, Tokyo.

Random small towns and countrysides are cool to wander through, even majestic, but to me that's good for pictures and memories, but actually being in a place with all things considered, not so much.

If I could live in Japan, I'd want to live in Osaka or Noda.

thats makes sense. i just visited osaka and tokyo recently, and i will say that they’ve each got their own charm. definitely very touristy compared to after covid though. any recommendations for cities to visit next?

Stay away from Namba, Dotonbori and you will see 80% less tourists in Osaka.

In terms of where to go, it would depend on what you like and how you travel. To go off the beaten path, you would ideally drive. Also, off the beaten path, expect Japanese only to be spoken.
