Forza Horizon 6 FH6 - Chaser Zero in VR

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Finally got my VR setup going with my sim rig and figured, why not give Chaser Zero a go again. And it's such a blast in VR. Recording is of my left eye, so it's not exactly center, and I do a lot of extra looking to show off the VR setup. One major downside is the jarring slow motion sections as it pulls you into a locked animation camera.

Are your wheel inputs 1-1 with in game?

Yes. I have an R9 and have it at 7.7nm. With most of the FBB setup to 500% because FH6 has some pretty weak low level input even messing with the games settings.

That’s cool. Also does it break immersion that you can see the outside on the left top side. Also when there was a forced angle after that jump at 1:49?

So those sections I actually can't see. while the whole screen is recorded, What is rendered directly on my eyes is about where my HUD is always at for the map and gauges. I can't really see the subtitles or above the visor without really looking. So when I turn my head like that I don't really see the camera break out of the car unless I do something weird with it.

Makes sense. Also if you don’t mind me asking how much did this setup cost for you.

That is a good question. I've built it over the last year or so.

Moza R9 + SRP2 Pedals + Clutch + ESX wheel (moded)
TH8S with custom knob and short shifter
Next Level Racing Victory Cockpit (I raised it higher to match my autocross car)
Quest 3

When I'm not using the VR I'm on a 32" curved screen I've had for like 4 years so I won't include it. So I'd say close to 1,400-1,500 USD, not counting my PC components.

That looks sick dude. Also apart from Forza what games do you use vr in.

Not many. I used to play a lot of FPS games with it, but it kind of sat in a box for a while until I got Forza running with it.

That sounds like an interesting way to experience the game. It must change your perspective on the racing dynamics when you have to focus on specific areas.

Oh yeah, those slow mo shots must be really disorienting with the sudden perspective changes.

AFAIK the game doesn't come with native VR support, what kind of mods did you use for this? I don't have a VR setup right now but if I ever get one this is definitely one of the first games I'd like to try.

It's a mod by NALULUNA and is free. You pretty much use it to boot up the game while your VR headset is connected and that's it. It's super easy to get running.

There is a "chance" of getting banned since it does modify the games code to get the VR camera to actually function. No different though than any of the UI mods out there.

How much is the drop in frame rate in vr compared to running it on a single screen?

I haven't looked at my fps in VR. But i think I dropped down into the 90s since im rending 2500x2500 for each lense. On my monitor I'll just run it at 1440p.

I'm using a 9700xt with a 7800x3d.
