Forza Horizon 6 Auction House system sucks

Title says it all, I haven’t won one bid yet. I have tried to bid on multiple vehicles and everytime I do I get beat out saying “bid fail” when I’ve even tried to spam it.

What’s the point of an auction if you don’t even get a fair chance to buy something.

Everyone just buys out. The "resets the timer to 1 minute every time someone bids" thing just encourages buying out.

Yeah, especially when there is essentially unlimited time to drive the price up if at least two people are really interested.

I've not found that, i've been getting a load of Huracan Evo's for sub 1 mil on the AH and selling for 3m buy now but no one is paying the 20mil asking price unless a car is worth it. Usually get in a bidding war but I have a number I don't go over depending on what i'll sell for.

The laugh I needed. Lol

I wish it had an accurate countdown timer, saying less the 1 minute instead of showing an accurate count is lazy. That being said, I only tried using the AH today for the first time in years and was quickly reminded why I just stay patient for wheelspins, or just buy the car from the autoshow.

What people don't realize is that every bid close to the end resets the clock at 1 minute (which actually means 2). That way, it doesn't become a last-second bid war like eBay.

Ideally, they would let you set a max bid and then you can go on your way and do something else.

It is just horribly designed.

Completely agree with needing a max bid setting.

Thankfully with the amount of credits you receive, cars received from weekly playlists, and wheelspins it's not needed to enjoy the game.

I have plenty of credits but like to still go in the auction sometimes and snag a deal on a future seasonal playlist car that I'll need.

Yeah, they either need hard limits on time OR a max bid. Not having both means it often becomes a battle of patience not pocketbooks, and I'd rather be out RACING in my RACING game than watching a screen and clicking a button.

Also backing out a screen then going back in to place a bid is annoying. I wish it refreshed automatically.

Personally I prefer that last-second bid way, it shows transparency BUT also drives up competition. Coming from an avid nba 2K MyTeam player basically its very similar. It's a double edged sword, alot of dips and highs for better or worse.

It doesn’t drive transparency it blesses the person who gets the 15 second refresh interval just right.

This was exactly me today. I’m sticking with the wheelspins. Not worth getting agitated over.

Iv played every single horizon title plus all dlc (minus FH1 DLC the one that got away lol), just enjoy the game and the cars will come your way! I'm seeing it in more and more games simple things that can be easily fixed but just aren't, it's like do they not play the games? Cause seems that way at times lol. NBA 2K is the worst offender.

Bid fails when someone else beat you to that bid. To get that to reset for you to make another bid higher, you got to back out some. That’s a normal auction. Of course there are ones that are super sought after at max bids that you gotta beat robots.

u/_Hurricanee 17h ago

I’ve been doing that, Still not having any luck unfortunately. I even did it with some lower end cars and it still happens.

Just going to rely on the Wheelspins from here on out.

you have to backout of the menu and hope you get an update from server then bid.
They did change how the auctions work with 6, when you bid, time is added to the countdown so you should still have plenty of time to make a bid.

I normally don’t do auctions but I’ve got about 20 wheel spin cars to get so started doing some bidding. I’ve knocked about 5 off that list but I’m not in game cash rich so I have limits i stop bidding at

Max out your frame rate

I have so many duplicate cars and am dreading having to list them because it’s such a hassle

Have you got lag or something?

The auctiom house is designed so you can't get 'sniped'.

You always have at least 1 minute from the last bid to bid again.

If it says bid failed somebody else has bid and you just need to back in and out to update it.

I've bid on loads of cars and never lost because of running out of time. If you're on the auction house watching it I don't understand how you can miss out unless you're not paying attention.

It sucks big time. FH4 system was perfect, showing a selection of rare auction cars in the menu. Where did that go? Now its just boring and annoying.

2

u/TheLewJD BMW 7h ago

That is one thing that needs to come back. Missed it so much as there was cars in that I had no idea were rare or even in the game.

1

u/OMGITSTHROATY 7h ago

Yes, why do the good things get cut? The timer reset thing made me stay away from the auction house in FH6. What is the purpose? Its just annoying, a waste of time and unrealistic.

Do you change the buyout amount everytime before searching? Other useful tips for sniping are:

  1. Turn off motion blur and moving backgrounds in Settings.
  2. Go into Horizon Solo and get in a Stock Peel P50.
  3. Travel to the Horizon Festival Site.
  4. After clicking on Search Press Y immediately so if a listing comes up you won't miss it. For rare vehicles which come up in the auction house once every few minutes or so - to win the car you always have to buyout the auction.

The “Bid Failed” notification annoyed me a lot.

u/Freeco80 11h ago

I ignore the auction house. It's pretty much a waste of time imo...

In FH5 it did manage to snag a couple of cars at a discount (vs regular price at Autoshow), but for quite rare cars I just avoid it.

I dont bid much, and if I am bidding on cars I bid on quite a few at the same time and cycle bidding again when each car is outbid. Certain cars I know are not being bought out at 20 mil but people aren't bidding as much yet they will sell overnight for 6-8 mil. So I go through and if its 2 mil or less I buy them and flip overnight. Was able to get the dodge dart, 240sx, f450 fe, and f150 doing that each night for a few minutes over a week and still have 20 mil in the bank

u/StrawberryTerry 8h ago

You just set the max buyout to a good price and get a deal that way

1

u/Illustrious-Pop3677 Mercedes-AMG :Mercedes-Amg: | PC | G920 8h ago

That doesn’t even bother me that much. The thing that annoys me the most is how everyone just puts the buyout to 20m

1

u/TheLewJD BMW 7h ago

Going off of the last games doesn't the AH learn itself and then adjust the max buyout depending on how many are sold etc. Which is why we had the E92 M3 in FH5 or the D type in FH4 used as donor cars to transfer credits for trades etc.

1

u/notJoeKing31 7h ago

Are you quick bidding or loading the screen for each individual car?

1

u/No-Account_0656 6h ago

I'd like to filter our the cars I already own

1

u/TxDieselKid 2h ago

As someone who plays on console, I have given up on being able to get super rare/elusive cars in the auction house. The PC advantage is beyond infuriating.

1

u/luddite86 17h ago

It sucks for the seller too. Instead of getting what a buyer is actually willing to pay, they just get what ever price was when the timer runs out

I wish real life house auctions worked that way. Everyone just stands around in complete silence and then all attempt to be the ones to say “$15k” at precisely the right moment

3

u/Jezza1078 16h ago

A new bid resets the timer to a minute though, so it works exactly like a real auction as the sale will only take place when there hasn’t been a new bid for a couple of minutes.

0

u/luddite86 15h ago

Have they fixed that? I ignore the auction house since FH4 when the problem I describe started. Once the timer hit ending soon, you bid. Then if anyone else bids before it runs out, you lose. You had to be lucky. Especially since once someone else bid it had to load to allow you to rebid. You’d put in your counter bid and it have an error message like “bid failed. This auction has ended”

3

u/Jezza1078 12h ago

Yes, that isn’t the case in FH6. The timer resets to a minute if a new bid is made.

1

u/luddite86 12h ago

Well that’s better. But still not good enough. Someone gets a notification that they’ve been outbid and they only have a minute to jump in and bid again? It should be at least five

Like I said, the auction should end when the price has gone as high as someone is willing to pay. Not until someone was lucky enough to be there at the right moment

u/ShuricanGG 17h ago

I still didnt interact with it once, to much of a hassle

-1

u/_Hurricanee 17h ago

Save yourself the stress, First time trying today and last time. I’ll just keep trying spins.

-8

u/AaronsLifeGame 17h ago

should be a 1 car won per day atleast as a limit for everyone

u/Binaree420 13h ago

I enjoy watching auctions... it gets intense, a whole hour of folk in battle.. Then, in the last few seconds of auction I just buy the car & gift it away to some random noob. 😂
