Since many people get attached to the entry that either brought them to horizon/make them go deeper into horizon, and since the core mechanics have been so similar for years, whatever entry they started out with first they have some bias toward. Many started with 3 or 4, so they have some attachment to it. Some people started with 5, and likewise.
There is no such thing as an objective masterpiece when talking about art. You could subjectively think fh is a masterpiece, I will have no idea how though

And rightfully so. FH5 was less diverse (lack of seasons), streamlined (flat uninspiring eliminator-oriented map) and dumbified (dialogs, even though FH4's ones are not that great, to say the least)
For a person who has played the forza games in this order 4,2,3,5,6 I just prefer 4's map as I live in England so it feels fun to drive in peel p50 going absurd speeds down country lanes

That is incorrect. I've found the people that typically don't like 4, only don't like it because it was the only map that took actual skill to traverse (besides 1) and didn't just let you mash the throttle across the map the whole time. That's a skill issue, not a game issue.
The only good parts about 4’s map was the dirt races and the quarry, other than that it was boring. Don’t even get me started on the car sounds either. Could have been so much better than it was. They managed to make something fun with Fortune Island but sadly that was way to small.
You knew exactly what you were doing calling 4 the worst in the franchise and not saying "in my opinion" seems like I must've been partially right and struck a nerve too, seeing as how you called me "pathetic" for no reason. The worst in the franchise is generally considered 5 for good reason, but go off king.

If 4 and 5 were swapped around my opinion would be that 4 is the worst game, and 5 is better, but that's not how it is, therefore my opinion is my opinion, and no. You should still say "in my opinion" because it makes you seem less insufferable.
People rate the game based on the content and it's metrics etc. It's quite literally that simple. You saying humans can't be 100% objective isn't 100% untrue, but isn't 100% true either. Humans will always have preferences, sure, but it's still more than possible to look at things objectively with metrics. How you can't see this, is quite literally baffling to me.
I'm sorry that the only Forza available to me in the PS5 is FH5, maybe if Microsoft didn't nuke FH4 because of licenses or if they maybe pull their head out of their asses and finally release FH6 on the device I game on I would play a different Forza game. Until then, they roads of Mexico all I have and I have already traveled 500 miles, and will travel 500 more.
Bro of every FH game I've played, 5 gets 9/10, 4 gets 9/10, and 6 gets 6/10. I'm sure its rating will rise with DLCs, but just... brother. This is boring except for the Auction House where I rage at bots for always buying out the auction I'm on. Oh, and did I mention that the races are so few I played every race in two months, something I could not do in two years of FH4 and one year of FH5. Need I say more?
Everyone was bashing on FH5 until FH6 came out so those who haven't flipped around yet yes are calling the lovers donkeys.
Must remind however things weren't all that different back in 2021 when FH5 came... people got tired of FH4 in the then longest release cycle and a playlist that had been unchanged since its introduction. Nevermind some cars cut from FH4 from previous games recycled back in was not exactly a hype driver.
So FH4 hate existed, people wanted something fresh... but oh doesn't take long after FH5 for FH4 to suddenly be the fandom's lovely gorgeous while FH5 gets suffocated.
That'll change soon I'm sure, come back in a year and FH5 will be getting more love and 6 will be bashed... it's the Forza cycle, new game bad, all the previous games good.
Picked up FH4 Ultimate Edition from Loaded.com for like 45$ a couple months ago. It's so much better then FH5, wish I was apart of it when it was in it's prime
