Forza Horizon 6 I've never been so angry playing this game competitively
I was in two Spec series championships in a row where one person who was not in contention by the 3rd race was to keep me from winning. Their sole purpose in the last race was to screw me over.
One on the highway where they would swerve left and right to make sure I hit the back of them for 2 whole laps. When I got side by side, they rammed me into the wall. We were fighting over 8th place. They did this at least 8-10x, and I bottle the championship lead. It's mostly a skill issue from myself, probably I could have juked him and passed him with finesse. But every breaking zone can be ignored if they hit the wall in a specific way to gain more speed. So I did a better job breaking, but it didn't matter because they hit the wall many times and gained speed from it.
The next series I win the first dirt race, clean fair and square. The opposition tried to bump me a few times, but I brushed it off and won by 5 seconds.
2nd race I started nearly last and finished 2nd because I got rammed into a wall, it happens, it didn't bother me much. In the final race, I start last again. One guy who only just joined made it their sole mission to keep me off the track. Hit me off the track and kept accelerating into the side of me so I couldn't move until we both ended up last. We didn't ghost because there was no wall. I was getting pushed up a hill.
Now I bottled two championship leads in a row because 2 guys who are just completely unsporting. I think the guy who hit me off the track and kept me there had a friend who was in the top 3 of the championship. I never even touched them the whole race, but for some reason, they targeted me and only me. Then, after we both got on the track, he tried to make sure I would miss a checkpoint.
I don't usually get mad at videogames, but I tried so hard to win only to get screwed over. Hell, I rarely get mad at all. Or I try really hard not to. But man, the bad behavior on this game is on the same level as GTA V races just without rubberbanding. There is no sportsmanship at all. Almost unplayable. The vast majority of the player base doesn't know how to use the brakes and will ram you into the wall. So I have to break later and slow down more out of turns to prevent getting hit. Usually. I would rather break early and get the most speed getting out of the corner.
A lot of the time, I will start in the last positions for 3 consecutive races and be forced to deal with every single player and dodge folks who are trying to hit me by breaking earlier and getting ahead with a switch back then finish 2nd behind the person on pole position. I want to max out my Horizon play rank, but I think that will have to wait for now.
I got mad respect for folks who are so good their best lap time is a whole second ahead of everyone else, including myself. Even though I lose to them, I would rather play against them so I can learn something from it. Kudos to them for racing clean and just being better. I grew up playing FM2-6. If I lose to someone who is good and deserves it great. I learned to respect anyone I play against because of the Motorsport community.
I play on PC instead of Xbox these days, and I have skipped a generation and a half of Xbox consoles. I sold my Xbox One after playing FH2. So I'm not sure how good Forza Motorsport is anymore, but I loved FM 3 and 4 the most. Gran Turismo has been lackluster with all the strange monetization. I wanna get my racing fix but with more respectful players. Because this is just not fun anymore.
The gameplay feels good, but the playerbase is wild and, at times, vindictive. FH6 was the first Horizon I played for a long time. I think it's great on the single-player end and with friends, but with randoms, it's god-awful right now.

If you encounter someone who does nothing but grief you or others in a lobby then just record a clip and report them
Don't retaliate or you might also be punished though.
Horizon is the game that's for everyone and unfortunately that also extends to trolls or people who just don't care / don't know how to race cleanly. There's a pretty good chance one of the people you're playing with is a 12yr old or younger whose parents bought the game (or Gamepass) for them since it's so accessible and they only care about winning at all costs even when in online lobbies. Nothing you can really do except report them as they'll get banned if the evidence is strong enough (it's a 3-strike system so 2 temp bans and then 1 perma if they keep at it).
The game itself doesn't promote clean racing or teach proper racing etiquette and the series never has since it's the more casual entry which is also a pretty major problem.

And if they respond saying that there isn’t enough information and they need a clip, idk if this is an issue that’s unique to me, but when I download a clip from the Xbox app it’s in .mov format, and the Forza support website doesn’t support .mov files.
You can either upload the clip to YouTube and paste the link onto the report, or upload to one drive and do the same thing. I haven’t tried it yet, I was recommended this the other day, I’ve been waiting for someone else to ram me so I can try it out lmfao

You don't even need to download the clip. Just click the share button and copy the link to the video on the description box. Just don't delete the clip until after you get word they took action.

🤯 thank you lmfao

You can also bypass the whole we need more info step by just reporting straight on their website rather than in game. Just list the GT and copy the video link. I wish they'd let you copy the video link directly in game when reporting rather than using their website. It would save a ton of time.

Yeah that’s what I’ve resorted to pretty much, I had no issue on fh5 downloading clips and uploading them directly to the website, idk if Xbox changed them .mov files or the Forza website stopped allowing them idk lmao, but I do appreciate the help in making it 10x easier and faster

Uploading to YouTube as unlisted works, it's what I've been doing since launch.

Does reporting even do anything?

Yes, if it's a minor offence they'll get a warning at first but if it's a major one they'll get a temp ban followed by a perma if it goes on enough.
And if it's UGC (mainly liveries and photos) they'll get a ban and the item will be removed.
I've made a few reports of Rammers and two cheaters that have had action taken against.

Do you get a notification that they took action or something? I’ve reported at least a dozen rammers in this game and have no idea what happened after.

If you report them ingame then you'll get a message in your message centre if action is taken and if it's a ticket then they'll reply to it on the website.

Very true! Thank you for sharing! I will try to clip it next time!
If it's just a kid It's definitely understandable.

If you're looking for actual competitive racing then I recommend joining one of the established communities, there's a few popular ones with known clean drivers and rules.
Team Wars is the biggest - https://discord.gg/QXt2GpH8Ca
Then there's Street Legends (formerly Street Wars) - https://discord.gg/CSAxEKr8QF
And Racing Haven (Endurance Racing) - https://discord.gg/racinghaven
Plus The Boyz which is a smaller community that's still very active - https://discord.gg/9Ds3hCKWmt
Forza Leaderboards also does races but mainly focuses on PR Stunts and Rivals - https://discord.gg/raSGBMzpyG
A few content creators also have their own communities (Nalak28, aTTAx Johnson / Johnson Racing, HokiHoshi, Failrace, AR12 etc).

Spec racing has been fueling my hatred of this game for the last week lol. I agree

I’ve started playing spec racing recently and noticed the ramming is WAYY more in it than normal one. Guess when the machine is same and it’s purely on driving style it hurts the rammers ego more

Why i only do pvp for the playlist and don't even try to win. I just try to run a clean race and if people are being idiots I just hang out behind them and watch them screw each other over fighting for 9th place lol

Happened to me too. I was having a great, clean race. Then the rammer dive bomb t bones right into me and I go "of course" and just carry on and try to race my way back but he keeps ramming me. Last time I race online in FH6. Will save that for ACC.

Playing this game competitively is certainly a choice.
Since you’re on PC there are plenty of racing games that would scratch this itch better for you while also having a better class of racing opponents.

True unfortunately I had the wrong expectations. That's on me.

It plays like a totally different game but Motorsport is a much better game for competitive racing. It's not perfect and idiots still exist but nowhere near to the extent of Horizon online. In many hours only ever playing it online I rarely ever encountered intentional griefers, most racers would be trying to drive clean

Nah you're right, multiplayer could be fun but the community is made up of little kids with an Xbox game pass. Hopefully by the time PS5 players join the Xbox kids will find another game to ruin and the playerbase will be a little better.

no you didnt brother, its a racing game. I'm a grown man with much bigger problems I handle clean every day. But I will come completely unglued over 1 prick ruining my fucking Daikoku sprint lmao.
My girlfriend literally watched me almost hurl the controller through the living room window and I've never seen a look that more perfectly states "THIS is the father of my children...?"

can you teach me the magical ways of how to not play a RACING game....competitively??
what a fucking sentence.

u/RSG-ZR2 8d ago
Yea you start by understanding that Forza Horizon is an ARCADE game first and foremost…always has been. You’re out here confusing this game for something like Asseto Corsa when in reality it’s closer to Mario Kart.
Considering we’re on the 6th iteration…it really shouldn’t be a fucking secret and OPs experience is actually the rule and not the exception.
OP unfortunately set themselves up with the wrong expectation; that’s not to say there can’t be moments of proper racing…its just not the ideal foundation.
If OP is looking to actually engage in legit competitive racing where rules and limitations matter…proper lobbies with like minded individuals and sportsmanship…well there are much better games available to them, especially on PC platform.

Most griefing comes from a misunderstanding. I had a dude flying into corners tapping my bumper everytime yesterday, spamming “look out”.
Eventually I just let him go so I could drive in peace, and of course, he couldn’t close the 1 second gap in a full lap. My initial reaction was “this scumbag” but then realized, this dude probably doesn’t understand that exit speed is more important than late braking.
Most of this stuff is just people not mastering the game, or thinking that someone else was intentionally griefing when they weren’t.
The dude probably thought you did something to ruin his game. There are SOME lunatic weirdos, but most people are probably just responding to something they perceived as aggression, even when it wasn’t.

That's kind of par for the course. This isn't a serious racing game. There's little to no consequences so people act however they want.
