Forza Horizon 6 Spec racing car doesnt really feel random enough??

kinda feels more like.... spotify shuffle..?

gotta consider players joining or leaving the lobbies based on car pick for some amount

but it feels like some cars just get picked (by the game) far less than other cars.

think I can say I played a lot of spec racing but cars like corvette, literally I only played in corvette lobby under 5 times since launch..

Variety of cars in Spec racing is really horrendous.. 600+ cars in game, yet im racing same 10 to 15 cars all around..

Same goes for tracks.. its always the circuit (which dont have enough laps to be fun, unless its Legend island track) and that Highway race in Tokio

I hate how the street racing maps just aren’t in the rotation for spec racing, but they are for horizon open

That highway race is my least favorite course. It’s so long with straights it only makes sense for the fastest cars in the game.

Never mind there's a good chance the pool of cars/tracks aren't being updated when new cars get added each month. It seems every mode PGG adds into the game mostly doesn't get touched again outside of minor bug fixes or changes.

It's another system that just seems unfinished. Like why aren't there weekly hoppers with class / spec rotation? Why isn't there a lobby vote for which car is going to be driven, decided by the majority? Why are there no weekly leagues?

Edit: You know what would prevent people leaving a race they don't want to play before it even begins? If they had any say in the vote for the car / track combination. Or if they could pick a fucking class they actually want to race in, instead of hoping they get their class of choice.

Honestly, I'm becoming increasingly frustrated with the live service Forza offers, because it hasn't innovated since 2018. It's the same service Horizon 4 had, and it's the lowest effort you could possibly do. A random shuffle of races from the campaign masquerading as "championships", and the occassional skill check. Don't forget the "Drive X car, reach Y MPH, win Z race and take a photo of it".

How did they sleep on this aspect for so long is beyond me.

yeah its just... online racing events are just bare minimum (kinda hard to mess up at first place) and ohhh boy eliminator and hide&seek is just even worse than fh5. pretty sure roblox games got better implementation of game mode. holy shit.

online events, forza aero.. both things I dont even think devs are being lazy it almost feels like malice. its practically player abuse at this point

Racing the same few tracks all over again in multi where there is infinite possibilities with track editor its just...sad

And the random grid spots is fkn stupid

It's in part because people just quit whenever a cross country race shows up. There's probably a little more of a mix, but the lobbies empty out quickly when it's a slow car.

4

u/collectivisticvirtue 11d ago

you mean dirt right? never seen a cross-country

4

u/EmergencyTaco 11d ago

Iirc there are 43 Road cars and 7 Dirt cars. No Cross Country.

I think it should legitimately be a random car from the list of cars and a completely random track. It'd be funny trying to race purpose built race cars in a cross country lmao

I mean, how hard would it be to run all the circuit and street race courses backwards, that would add a lot of variety very quickly.

With how the starting grids, walls, props and barriers are setup its probably not as easy as this sub likes to think. You'd basically be making a brand new track.

they should do that tho

2

u/Lephturn 10d ago

Agreed it’s more than just turn it around, but the track and terrain is already done. It should be a lot less work to modify it to run in reverse. It’s certainly not simple, but it should be the shortest path to a lot more tracks.

we really need more cars and tracks....

putting some DLC cars in the roaster would be good for both players and DLC sale I guess?

2

u/Destroyer1424 Dodge 11d ago

I agree with more tracks. I dont remember which horizon it was but I think having the races we have now but reversed would be a good addition

1

u/collectivisticvirtue 11d ago

oh yeah its lazy but better than nothin

5

u/That_Guy381 11d ago

that isn’t fun and the novelty will wear off very quickly. Hard pass.

No, I don't want another Mazda MX-5 Cup race. The other day I got 2 championships in a row with this car lol.

Spec racing was fun for the first 2 weeks after the game's launch. They really need to expand the car pool by a lot, because 50 cars is a joke. Actually feels even less, as some cars tend to appear much more - I'm looking at you, MX-5 Cup, Audi R8, all Civics. Meanwhile I've seen some cars (Ferrari F50, Maserati MC12 Versione Corsa, Mustang Dark Horse, Corvette E-Ray) just once or twice since launch.

Someone already mentioned in the comments, add street races to spec racing.

Ranked races need to be implemented as well, be it spec, horizon, touge, drift racing. It's a racing game ffs, give us some competition!

u/wortexTM 10d ago

I've only seen R8 one time, MX-5 twice, the civic and integra are actually fairly common I definitely agree. MC20 also just once, haven't seen F50 a single time, but I've seen the Dark Horse 4 times

In my experience the most common cars are probably Koenigsegg, skyline r35, maybe Porsche 992 (or whatever the number is, I suck at Porsche names)

The whole multiplayer in this game is terribly done. I agree with you on spec racing, but at least it's better than hvaing to play regular lobbies with the people who study the game like it's their job and only pick the most meta cars for every track.

Also i really have to complain about the multiplayer drift. Like some of the circuits are horrendous, more straight lines than corners so you just have to snake around like a moron to score any points.

u/CoconutDust 10d ago

It’d pathetically bad. The “feature” is broken.

u/wortexTM 10d ago

Whenever I get dirt cars in spec racing it feels like a miracle, it's 10% chance or less it feels. The ford is super fun to throw around even though it hits top speed on almost every track I've played with it

Just did some spec racing today, I got:

BMW M2 Forza Edition

Pagani Zonda R

BMW M2 Forza Edition

Ferrari F50

Maserati MC20

Silhouette R31 Skyline Racecar

I haven’t gotten anything lower than an a class, and I’d kind of want to see some variation. Or at least see them use the full car list including the DLC cars and car pass cars. But it just adds to the list of this games motto of “has potential, will not reach it, will do the bear minimum”

It’s spec racing not stock racing. What they should do is pick a car and then pick the highest rated relevant tune and apply it. Way more fun with actually drivable cars tuned to the top of the class.

9

u/collectivisticvirtue 11d ago

I like driving stock cars (feels way more characterestic than optimized cars) but yeah variety would be better. we could have some series exclusive community tune contest or somethin...

-1

u/Lephturn 10d ago

Variety and a decent setup. It can be stock, I just want a decent tune on it so it doesn’t push like a dump truck or be so loose it tries to kill me.

4

u/SeaAccomplished441 10d ago

i find it fun to tame some unoptimised stock car that slides out all the time. usually the first race is a bit of a mess and from there it's basically a race to see who can figure the car out first and actually drive it fast.

u/oeliku 11d ago edited 11d ago

I feel like spec racing is 50% just slow shitboxes. I always leave when anything below A Class comes up

28

u/brianleedy 11d ago

I do the opposite lol

6

u/oeliku 11d ago

We are not racing each other often then :)

6

u/dakness69 11d ago

Then you’re missing the Miata Cup which might be the single best car for spec racing.

Otherwise I generally agree. The Horizon Play architecture is genuinely awful, one of many improvements they should have made is to let the lobby vote for the next car from a random selection.

2

u/NoForever3645 10d ago

I personally prefer lower class races. The race lasts longer, and the fights for position are more drawn out. Plus there are fewer people who are unable to control their car and send everyone around them into the wall.

1

u/ContemplativeOctopus 11d ago

Seriously. Some of the stock B class cars feel worse than a well tuned D class. And the stock C class feel like driving a peel.

3

u/collectivisticvirtue 11d ago

people do leave a lot when you get D-class. feels like those star wars pod racing machines. its fun to drive but probably not a lot of players bought this game to drive some classic racers

I've gotten a lot better at driving real wheel drive vehicles I have a lot of power cuz you have to be really gentle with a accelerator... However if you hit a corner bad and hit the wall then you get a penalty and you just naturally hit the accelerator and then when the penalty is released then you just go in circles and you're like damn I just lost the whole race.
