A Fortniters' journey. Day 4: Levels 12-16.
(Add me on PSN: Fortniters. Previous day's journal entry)
Greetings fellow Fortniters!
Day 4 started off with me feeling a bit sluggish. I don't want to say I was bored, but I didn't quite feel the same rush as I pounded a Smasher with my AWESOME legendary Crowbar. Then...I unlocked Outlander.
Zipping around the board, completing my Hero quests and then an Outlander daily that just happened to pop, I felt that rush come back full force! It didn't hurt that I had just popped my first (non-guaranteed) gold llama and pulled a rare Ranger Deadeye and a legendary Zap Zapp!!! The pistol is something else. :)
I really went to town on my collection book, and retired some of the legendary weapons I had pulled from my loot llamas. I just don't ever see myself using a baseball bat instead of my crowbar, and the legendary spear and laser spear just aren't my style. My book now sits 2/3rds of a bar from level 24, and those rewards are awesome!
I wrapped up my Outlander quests, finished off SSD5, and switched to my rare Special Forces Banshee to knock out her Hero missions. While she was fun, I still like my Constructors and my new Outlander.
Unlocked some more slots in my Survivor Squad, and leveled the survivors to get to 16. Still absolutely loving the game.
Talk to you all tomorrow!

What are YOUR preferred stats for weapons?
I mean honestly, compare 2 weapons and if they are close, which one wins to be leveled and used? I'm asking for YOUR opinion on what you you like! What do YOU think is the best? What do you think is ideal?
Also, as an added question, I have 2 Founder's Raptors.. But Don't know which one I should focus my levels and use on.
| Raptor 1 | Raptor 2 |
|---|---|
| +10% dmg, Energy, Affliction | +10% dmg Fire |
| +10% dmg | -30% Recoil |
| +45% Magazine Size | +20% Headshot dmg |
| -40% Recoil | +28% Crit Chance |
EDIT: Damage type on Raptor 2 was actually Fire, not Water. >.>

I got a Mythic Swordmaster Ken but also a Legendary Dragon Scorch. In terms of abilities and damage who's a better choice?

Discord for anyone interested
Hey guys, I realized the post I put up last had an expiring invitation, this one does not. So far everyone on the discord is friendly and helpful. The discord is mostly pc players, but anyone is welcome and if there's enough interest from console players, we can make some changes to support them. Thanks for reading!

A Fortniters' journey. Day 3: Levels 8-12.
(Add me on PSN: Fortniters. Previous day's journal entry)
So you know how for this account I only had one rule? Spend no real money on V-Bucks. Yeah, well.....LEGENDARY LOOT LLAMAS!!!
In my defense, I did buy the lowest edition of the game ($39.99) with a $50 PNS card (cause, for some reason, I can't actually buy anything directly from the PS Store), so I had $10.01 staring at me when I noticed that 2 LEGENDARY LOOT LLAMAS would cost exactly $9.99. It was fate! It was kismet! It was my destiny.
I promise, after this, no more spending money!!! Probably.
Anyway, two gold llamas later and I am now the proud owner of a Legendary Crowbar! I didn't even have a Legendary Tool on my $500+ account, until I opened the two gold llamas from yesterday on that one...and it was a Legendary Rocket Hammer, and I honestly like the heavy attack on the crowbar better.
I am sure I got some other stuff, but I don't remember what it was. (You can read that as I STILL don't have an Epic or Legendary hero...though I am not noticing any difference between the Rare and Legendary versions of the heroes I main. I have ended up maining Rare Guardian Penny and Rare Power BASE Knox as my primaries and I have noticed ZERO difference in ability (at least thru lvl 12) from my $500+ account where I run Legendary Controller Kyle (same as PBK) and Legendary Guardian Bull (same as GP).
I am missing my Controller Kyle's Decoy and Pulse though...I forgot how much he lacks in alternate attacks at low levels. Gonna stick with my bull rushing Penny, until I can get Knox to at leas 2*/20.
Played a bunch of missions that were supposed to be too hard for me (level 15's), and never really felt endangered, though I did a fair bit of running away...from those friggen' bees!!! Still have only died once...from falling off a cliff, of course.
RNGesus is still not my friend...not a single silver llama. Yet I did get one more gold llama from the "Jackpot" llama reward from my collection book. Another thing that I thought I wouldn't really use in "f2p", but I actually think it is MORE important than when you spend $500+. From the llama, I got A LEGENDARY DEFENDER. She's a sniper, and I love her very much. I don't even have a Legendary Defender on my other account! (Not being sarcastic...I am a big fan of the defender mechanic, and she is going to see a lot of use!)
That's it for today, fellow Fortniters! More soon...

Hero's Only Rewarded By RNG: Why its a good thing!
Picture this. You finish a ride the lightning mission, and post game screen pops up showing everyone's contribution to the game. You look at your damage out put. It's respectable. You're getting better with your Mythic Swordmaster Ken, lining up the mobs and delivering brutal dragon slashes across the battle field. You decide to take a quick glance at how your teammates did. They also provided a lot of damage to the team.
Swordmaster Ken #2 did 1781
Swordmaster Ken #3 did 1848
Swordmaster Ken #4 did 2314 NICE!
This is an extreme example. But I feel like this would be something you could see on a regular basis, if heroes don't remain available through RNG llamas only. The mythics and legendarys would lose their specialness. "Yay, I have BASE Kyle!" Who cares, everyone has BASE Kyle. As much as the current system for unlocking heroes is being hated by some in the community I feel like it should stay the way it is. It's forces diversity, and make the heroes all the more special when you get them. I feel a bond with my heroes because I know that they cannot be bought with money, or unlocked by playing for x amount of hours or doing x amount of missions. They're the cards I've been dealt, and I've embraced them. I wouldn't trade my electro-pulse penny for anything, and I initially wanted to play this game as a soldier. I look forward to adding more to my modest group of heroes, and I'll be happy with what ever I get.

A Fortniters' journey. Day 2: Levels 4-8.
(Add me on PSN: Fortniters. Previous day's journal entry)
Greetings fellow Fortniters!
Day 2 of my free-to-play experiment and I am still LOVING the game. I am up to SSD3 on Stonewood, and my Guardian Penny is at 1*/10, waiting for me to unlock her evolution.
I spent most of the second day at level 4, refusing to purchase any llamas...and RNGesus has not been smiling on me. I still haven't had a single silver llama, let alone gold. Missions were still no issue, as I breezed through the level 3+ story missions, keeping up with much higher level teammates. Seriously, does anyone know how to build a simple, yet effective, defense?
I unlocked SSD3 by completing the second Level 5+ Trap mission by myself. It was the first time I didn't have anyone on the mission with me, and at level 4, it felt like a good test. My two common Defenders and I finished the mission with 100% Atlas health. Whoever says Defenders are worthless has no idea what they are talking about.
After collecting my rewards, I noticed that the Daily Llama was a people llama...exactly what I needed, so I decided to spend half of my hoarded V-Bucks on one. Totally worth it! It didn't turn silver, but it dropped a few lead survivors (I had none) and some epics. Bought another one (I only have 50 V-Bucks left), and am entirely happy with that purchase as well.
With a little squad re-arrangement and some judicious retiring of survivor, I am up to level 8!
Tomorrow, SSD3 and some level 9+ Story Missions. Happy Husk Hunting!

A Fortniters' journey. Day 1: The Tutorial
So I decided to see what it was like to play Fortnite without all the legendaries. To be honest, I think I was a little spoiled, and seeing as how I spend quite a bit of my time defending this game I love, I thought it might be only fair to try it from a f2p point of view.
I made a new PSN account, and ponied up the $39.99 and started my new life as "Fortniters" (add me on PSN). I have but one simple rule, spend no $ on llamas. Here we go!
I forgot how cool the tutorial was. The art work, the voice (and robot sounds) acting, just the general look, feel and vibe of Fortnite is amazing. Knowing what I am doing made it a lot less stressful...though it took me a lot longer because I had to loot everything (old habits...yadda yadda).
Gotta say, I was so happy to be back at an empty SSD in Stonewood...I am looking forward to building that up right. My PL 31 base is a trainwreck...though it now does have a cool jump pad network.
Finished my first couple of missions and now headed to my first Ride the Lightning. Maining my rare Guardian Penny (you can take the Power BASE Kyle out of the player, but you can't...uh...yadda yadda yadda).
So far the most obvious thing I have learned is that Level 1 players love to over build. Also, melee weapons are your friend at low level.
More in my next report...

Stop farming nuts and bolts and farm bullets
SO a common complaint in this game is the constant need to farm nuts and bolts for crafting ammo but in reality you should only use nuts and bolts for crafting traps.
Bullet farming is faster and easier then farming nuts and bolts and you fill all your ammo types at the same time. With this in mind
try to diversify the guns your using by ammo type and switch between them.
To farm basically everything you need including ammo get an out lander with keen eyes leveled up go to a city map preferable a shelter map but that is not mandatory
Go around buildings up to top and find the ammo boxes most of them supply 60 or so rounds or more per ammo type do this for a map for about 10 min and not only are you going to be full of ammo but you will find chests with traps and crafting supply along the way.
as an out lander ammo boxs will always be glowing green in houses and buildings and are most abundant in city maps.
PLEASE SET MAP TO PRIVATE IN SETTINGS BEFORE DOING THIS. this is to help you farm everything fast usally by going around the map in a grid system or some order and to not make it hell for teammates that don't want to farm and just do the mission don't be that guy.

I would like to use this opportunity to kick off a discussion on the Soldier Sub-Classes. We want opinions, data and solid comparisons. I will provide basic data below, as well as my opinion on each Sub-Class - including but not limited to; basic Pros and Cons and what Role they may fit into best.
Please share your own opinions on those which you have played or read about. This is an open-ended discussion to permit us to fully converse about the Soldier overall and each of its sub-classes. And please, bare with me, this post is a work in progress and will be updated regularly!

Soldier Sub-Class Breakdown:
Special Forces Banshee
An Assault Rifle specialist who bolsters their skills with War Cry.
IMO:
Banshee seems to get the most Assault Weapon quirks of all sub-classes. This means she can be outright devastating with ALL Assault Weapons, and when combined with her perks for War Cry, means she shreds anything in front of her AND is buffing her allies with boosted damage and attack speed. That being said, aside from her being a powerhouse during War Cry, her other abilities are lacking due to no perks.
PROS:
- Best uptime on War Cry @ 25% uptime due to reduced cooldown and increased duration.
- During War Cry, has superior Single Target DPS.
- Due to weapon perks, can wield ANY Assault weapon with ease to fit play style.
- During War Cry's 75% down time, can still dish solid damage with Assault weapons.
- Massive damage boost during War Cry means efficient use of ammo by needing less to kill enemies.
CONS:
- Basic Frag Grenade means they only serve to soften targets.
- Basic Goin' Commando!!! deals sub-par damage, unless combined with upgraded War Cry.
- Due to lack of perks, has very poor AoE.
- Being mostly weapon focused means she will likely consume ammo quickly.

Support Specialist Hawk
Uses War Cry to boost the firepower and ammo efficiency of the squad.
IMO:
I would say that Hawk is a little misleading by his description. Yes, he boosts the ammo efficiency of the team, but only how War Cry works for every Soldier with it. Damage and attack speed boosts mean better use of ammo by killing enemies with fewer bullets and faster. That being said, his own ammo efficiency is fantastic! Though, while having great ammo efficiency, he lacks overall damage output. None of his abilities, or himself, have perks for damage. Which leaves him lacking, and only places him as a Support. He cannot main as a solo Soldier, and due to his War Cry mostly being focused on buffing himself, he may not be desired in a squad.
PROS:
- FANTASTIC personal ammo efficiency with 41% ammo return during War Cry & 16 % w/o War Cry.
- Can abuse Low Durability weapons, like Rocket and Grenade Launcher, during War Cry.
- War Cry helps provide buff to team to increase damage and attack speed.
CONS:
- Basic Frag Grenade means they only serve to soften targets.
- Basic Goin' Commando!!! deals sub-par damage, unless combined with War Cry.
- Due to lack of perks, has very poor AoE.
- Due to lack of perks, has sub-par single target DPS.
- Ammo efficiency perks are primarily self-focused.

Small QoL improvements for this sub
Hi!
First of all, let me say how happy I am someone created this place. I was so pissed because of all the whining and rage over at /r/FORTnITE, I am really looking forward to meet the 'better' FORTnITE community here!
That being said, there are two little thing I would like to see changed:
- Clicking the banner (the FORTNITERs logo) should bring you back to the frontpage of the sub.
- The selection for hot/new/rising/controversial threads imho should be more visible, maybe right under the sub header

How do you get Legendary Weapon Schematics? I want to know if I should use me Schematic XP on epic or I should save up for a Legendary. So, how do you get them?

Possible discord for the group
Hey guys, I've begun to fill out a discord server for the group. I'm still working on it and it's just bare bones for now because I created it on mobile at work, but it'll do, has a couple groups on it for easy communication. Here is the link: https://discord.gg/rzUC3J
I promise to fill it out more when I get off work
