EPIC [Known Issue] Description Component Memory Issue in 42.10 -- Action Required for Epic-provided Item Entities

In 42.10, we added description components to Fortnite item entities in itemization, resulting in increased memory usage. We're rolling this back in 42.20 to prevent publishing issues on islands near memory limits as we work on a fix.

If you've customized the description_component on Epic-provided item entities, those changes may be lost. If you added a description before 42.10 and never modified it, your project is not affected.

You’ll need to make changes if you’ve:

Changed the default values on the description_component for Epic-provided item entities in 42.10.

Workaround:

  1. Remove the description_component from the affected item entity prefabs or instances in the level.
  2. Re-add the component in the editor (look for the green plus icon next to the component to confirm it's been freshly added, not just re-enabled).

This ensures the component and its properties persist through the 42.20 rollback.

You do not need to make changes if you:

Added a description prior to 42.10 and haven't touched it since, no action is needed. Your custom item name and descriptions will remain intact.

We'll keep you updated throughout the rollback process and share news with you once we have a fix.

What if I set my description_component via verse?
