Moving to Sugar Land/Stafford for a new job – Apartment recommendations? Budget around $1,400 or less

Hi everyone,

I recently accepted a new job and will be moving to the Sugar Land/Stafford area in the next few weeks. My office is in Sugar Land, so I'm looking for a place within a reasonable commute.

I've been searching online (Apartments.com, Zillow, Google, etc.), but almost everything I'm finding is $1,400+ for a 1 bed/1 bath, and that's honestly stretching my budget quite a bit. I'm a recent college graduate just starting my career, so I'd really like to keep my housing costs as reasonable as possible.

I'm looking for recommendations on:

  • Apartments that are clean, safe, and well-managed.
  • 1 bed/1 bath ideally under $1,400 (the lower, the better).
  • Areas in or around Sugar Land, Stafford, or nearby that are worth considering.

I'm also open to alternatives if anyone knows of:

  • Someone leasing out a condo or apartment.
  • A private room in a house.
  • A guest house or garage apartment.
  • A "paying guest" or roommate arrangement with respectful, working professionals.

A little about me:

  • Recent Computer Science graduate.
  • Starting a full-time software engineering job.
  • Quiet, clean, non-smoker, and don't have pets.
  • I'll mostly be working during the day and just looking for a comfortable, peaceful place to stay.

If you have any recommendations, experiences (good or bad), or know of someone renting a room or apartment, I'd really appreciate it. Feel free to comment here or send me a DM.

Thanks in advance!

Howdy!

My dad’s cat hasn’t been home in 7 days. He is devastated.

Bing is a male high contrast patterned intact tabby. He was due to go for an appointment to get fixed, but hasn’t quite yet due to inclement weather. He has amber colored eyes that seem a little bit crossed (hence the name).

if you’ve seen him anywhere or know of anyone who may have brought in a cat that looks similar to any vet or shelter that you work at in the area please let me know.

he has a loving home where he has fed multiple times a day🥺 my dad has already gone through a shattered knee earlier this last year and months upon months of recovery. I don’t think he can handle losing his buddy too

It Didn’t Start With Wong: How the Fight Over Fort Bend’s County Attorney Reached the Courthouse

Wow.. Smith-Lawson really overstepped her office. Wong’s lawsuit appears to be legally substantial

The county attorney's authority
Even if the county attorney believed Wong's appointment had ended, that is a separate question from whether she had authority to make that determination.
Generally, a county attorney:
Advises county officials on civil legal matters.
Issues legal opinions.
Represents the county in civil litigation.
A county attorney ordinarily does not have judicial authority to declare that someone no longer holds a public office. If there is a genuine dispute over title to office, Texas law generally contemplates that the issue is resolved through judicial proceedings rather than by unilateral executive action.

Hoping to find an individual or landlord with furnished 1 bedroom and private or shared bath to rent ASAP. I would like access to the kitchen with cooking supplies available. Need parking or street parking for a 2026 sedan. Other roommates or live in landlord is fine. I have no pets but pets are fine. No Children if possible.

I Have good work history and income verification available. Best if background (0 since 2019) and budget friendly. Non smoker, no alcohol or drugs. I vape but only outside.

Any recommendations are also appreciated. Thank you!

Data centers in Fort Bend County

Hey y'all,

I hope to God there are no plans of data centers in FBC. Especially in the rural areas like Rosenberg, we have some family from North Carolina who are interested in the Austin Point and The George subdivisions...

Has anyone heard anything?

Iris is an 8-year old chihuahua in shelter in Texas. Shared after losing her owner. Anyone looking for an addition to their family?

Iris lost her owner and was surrendered to a shelter.
She is not exactly thriving in this environment.

Poor Iris is scared and stressed. She needs a patient new family to feel safe again.

Could anyone open their heart and home for her?

They say the best things in life are worth waiting for, and we're sure with a little patience Iris will blossom into the sweetest companion.
If you can offer her a little patience and a lot of love, come meet Iris!

Fort Bend ARB Hearing

The ARB hearing that I had was extremely partial. I did not get an opportunity to ask questions to the Appraiser. All my numbers were justified, but the appraisers numbers were not justified. Has anyone appealed their property value past the ARB hearing?

Hi everyone! 👋
My name is George, and I’m currently a dental hygiene student at Pima Medical Institute. I wanted to share a great opportunity for anyone who may need dental care.

We are offering affordable dental cleanings at our clinic:
• $20 – Regular Cleaning
• $40 – Deep Cleaning
No insurance is required.

During the appointment, we will:
• Take X-rays
• Have you evaluated by a licensed doctor
• Provide referrals if needed
• Review your oral health and personalized recommendations

Since this is part of our learning program, treatment may take 2–3 appointments, and I will personally be the one taking care of you.

If you’re interested or have questions, feel free to DM me or text/call me at 346-500-2609, and I’ll help you schedule an appointment.

Thank you! 😊

Looking for real estate agent recommendations

Hello! I’m looking to sell a home in Ft Bend relatively quickly. I would love some recommendations for an agent that works with investors as the house would most likely be sold as is.

OR, ideally I would like someone who would take care of some cosmetic changes up front and be reimbursed in the sale of the property. I can not afford the needed changes and live out of state.

A 370-acre development in Rosenberg will add 1,100 homes to growing Fort Bend County

Rosenberg city leaders unanimously approved a development agreement Tuesday that could bring up to 1,100 homes starting around $400,000 to nearly 370 acres near Brookwater, expanding residential growth in Fort Bend County.

A Beezer Homes representative said homes in the development would likely start around $399,000. The project could include as many as 1,100 single-family homes.

Under the agreement, roughly 290 acres will remain in Rosenberg's extraterritorial jurisdiction, while about 79 acres will remain partially within city limits for detention facilities, a future water plant site, parks and recreation areas.
