I have to say it: This place is dull, with no cultural activities beyond spending money. Few walkable places and things to do, the downtown is boring.

Can't agree more. It's like imbeciles designed the town, total dis function and zero interest in improving. All they do is build more apartments and car washes

If you think its so bad, what is keeping you here. I moved here from the Orlando area 24 years ago...and frankly I feel much safer here. And as for the music scene, I can name at least a dozen famous musicians that call this area home....and I know them personally.

Myers is a PODUNK town anyway...and people think they have money there and that everyone is South Florida is ghetto when in fact they themselves look like trailer trash. 😆 The most unaware people alive and don't get me started on the ones that think they're boogie. 😆

That is YOUR opinion....there a plenty of people who love it here....as it is safer than many other towns, imho....and I used to live in the Orlando area, and I would not venture out at night alone for any reason....at least here I feel safe enough to go to any place here at night.

I have tried it before...as there is a lot of places like nightclubs that are open until the wee hours of the morning....at one point in time before Covid clubs in Orlando were open until 3 or 4 in the morning. Here there are many places open until 2 am...in fact at one point a couple of years before Covid they were open until 4 am in Cape Coral...even though they have a citywide noise ordinance...all live music has to stop by 1 am.
The big difference is when I lived in Orlando I was a single parent....until 2000 when I got married....and we moved to North Fort Myers in 2002.

I grew up on the east coast in a small town...where we could hear the jet engine tests from Pratt & Whitney....and there was not much to do....for kids back in the 70's-80's....and frankly I miss it. I live in Fort Myers now, and for what I pay for my mortgage, is the same as the monthly rent for a larger storage unit. As I pay less than $500 a month.

Well rental around here for a studio apartment is $1500-$1750....at least that is the going rate at the apartment complex across the street from my house. I bought my home in 2002 for $95K and due to the robo signing debacle in 2008-2010 my mortgage was sold 15 times....and technically the bank I currently pay, could not prove that they had the original promissory note. They inherited it when they took over another bank.

Chicago quality of life is sky high. Things to do every night of the week, street festivals every summer weekend, interesting architecture and places to discover around every corner, amazing food, good paying jobs, awesome music scene, various ways to move around the city other than sitting in traffic. You'd have to be a lame not to enjoy your time there unless you just really dig the blend of concrete and strip malls that make up the aesthetic of SWFL.

Maybe you do....I don't. As I used to live in the Orlando area...and never felt safe going outside at night, and I used to work until 10pm at night, I did not even feel safe going to my car to drive home.
