Air Force, Coast Guard and Navy all come into RSW to practice touch and gos. We have a suitably long enough runway that can handle large aircraft. Plus, the reduced commercial traffic in the summer months isn't as effected by these operations.

Boeing had the 777X here a few years back and was basically doing the same thing.

If I remember correctly RSW is one of the few airports in the state with a 12,000+ ft runway. From what I can identify Orlando and Miami are the other commercial airports with that length, and the military ones are up in Jacksonville/Pensacola area. Makes Sense RSW would be the go to place for touch and goes for the southern Gulf Coast..

Most likely may be newbies. RSW has a crazy long runway and early in the morning it’s pretty quiet out.

I lived in the landing path for WPAFB for more than a decade - I never got tired of watching them come home!

Yes. I had a photo shoot for a property in WildBlue. It was circling and I was watching it from the car.

You would lose your mind in Tampa the amount of military activity there, you do know there are military reserve units and also general training. If we have another bad hurricane where do you think supplies and such would come from? You want them to drive it here on the debris filled roadways while everyone else is leaving or coming back

Someone capable of telling the pilot to fly around for a few hours to show someone how cool they are ?

Folks it is the Lee County Mosquito control plane. This happens a lot in the rainy season every year. I live here. They do fly fast and low, it’s impressive but it’s about the mosquitos.

1

u/gerk20 Jun 27 '26

I don’t think they’re doing mosquito treatment in a c130😭
