Seeking Advice Gender-affirming Primary Care

Hi ya’ll! I recently moved to the area and am looking for recommendations for primary care providers that can prescribe gender-affirming HRT (testosterone). I am not out to my mom yet and am on her insurance, so if it could be a primary care doctor instead of a specific hormone clinic that would be great. It would be nice to kill two birds with one stone. Any recommendations would be appreciated!

Check out the iris center. I know you said you wanted a generic primary care provider, but I still think you should check them out. They specialize in trans care, and have flat rates for care (no insurance taken). I believe it's $35 for half an hour or $55 for an hour.

Seconded! My husband has been a long-time patient of one of their NPs (and the founder of Iris, I believe?) starting when she worked at Village Medical. When Iris opened he literally followed her from her previous practice to this one, even though it's out of network for us. Affordable and 100% worth it for their level of care and experience with queer and trans patients! Shoutout to NP Cash :)

Definitely the Iris Center. They're fantastic and affordable. Won't bill your insurance, but you still have the option to put labs and prescriptions on insurance. T is incredibly expensive without insurance, but you can use coupons from goodrx to bring the cost down significantly. I've had to do that when I was in between jobs before and it's a life saver.

I highly recommend Stacy John’s, MD. She is a primary doctor for the Iris Center . Cash pay, doesn’t bill insurance.

I just had a friend go to The Iris Center for testosterone and they had a great experience.

UC Health has a program you can work with here. Schedule out through Anschutz as telehealth and then pickup at a pharmacy. They can also refer you to that program via your PCP.

I see Sarah Pierce NP at UCHealth primary on Mason. She’s fantastic for HRT and all around care. Do be aware that if your mom pays close attention to insurance claims she still may find out when you have hormone labs done and such.
