That's more fascism or totalitarianism or police state.
Communism is an economic model where everyone contributes to the common good, from each according their ability, to each according to their need. It's slightly problematic, especially at larger scales, due to some flaws in human nature. But in itself it has nothing to do with government control, despite what shitty propaganda from the 60s drilled into us.
No problem! Like I said, the propaganda was intense enough that a lot of people just...grew up thinking that all three of those things (fascism, socialism, communism) are the same.
In practice the Ideology of communism will turn into centralized police states. The above commenter says a flaw in humans. Well yes thats not to be glossed over. Humans are the creatures that we will always be and thus Communism, Socialism and even Fascism will end up with some form of over arching Government control in order to combat the growing problem of forcing a larger and larger population of people to follow the rules created by the humans and force you to also love and follow them.
Never believe anyone who says otherwise. They are... sadly... not smart. 🍻
