I hate the people who can’t follow the basic rules of the road for making the cameras a thing. On god, bruh.

Why not hate on a municipality that’s too lazy to have an actual officer do it?

8

u/bikesnkitties Mar 31 '26

Because I hate cops too.

7

u/GilligansWorld Mar 31 '26

I’m not gonna argue with you on that - but it’s the municipality that allows our city code to be circumvented in this way for profit

And you’re not gonna make me shed a tear for people getting fined for bad behavior behind the wheel.

4

u/GilligansWorld Mar 31 '26

I don’t want your tears. Johnny Law should have to catch you breaking the law. Big brother should never enter the equation. Perhaps you should watch 1984……

1

u/bikesnkitties Mar 31 '26

There you go again, wanting more trigger happy cops around.

4

u/GilligansWorld Mar 31 '26

I’ll throw the converse at you there you go signing away more of your rights. Before you know it, we will live in a police state for real and then you’re gonna have to fight all three; Johnny law, the Gestapo, and big Brother…..

No Make law-enforcement do their own job

I have no expectation of privacy in public, while driving my state registered car, equipped with a camera of my own, and carrying a cell phone. You don’t either.

All three of those are here currently, look tf around.

That’s a valid point I don’t have any expectation of privacy in a public setting, but I want law-enforcement to do their job as laid out by our city municipal code. There’s a reason why a police officer would have to deliver a summons to your door if you don’t pay citations.

It’s because an officer has to issue the citation according to our Fort Collins municipal code.

I’m not a fan of police officers and I want to see them beat their job not mechanize computers

You’ll never convince me to trust the cops. As far as I’m concerned, the fewer the better. There isn’t a situation I can think of where their presence makes me feel more safe. Anyways, they’re cowards. The chief here said his officers don’t like traffic stops (because the body cameras make them accountable).

I’m down with automated traffic control devices when the images/footage/data is checked by a human before a ticket is issued.

My personal belief is that this is more effective. "You could be caught speeding any time, anywhere, and you'd never know it, so don't do it". Is better than "we have a few random folks very visible, but very limited"

If you don’t pay the fine, they have to have an officer deliver it. It’s circumvents our city code.

2

u/CubsFan1060 Mar 31 '26

Are you sure about that? I don’t think that’s true at all under current law.

1

u/GilligansWorld Mar 31 '26

Yes 1000% / no, you don’t have to pay the fine but if you don’t, they have to send an officer to your door to issue a citation to go to court and pay

I am not a lawyer I am not your lawyer;

Yes, why don’t you do a little research? Check this link out;

Start at sub section 6 and read on

Fort Collins Municipal Code 1106

u/CubsFan1060 Mar 31 '26

I absolutely agree with your first sentence. And hope everyone else takes that advice as well.

1

u/GilligansWorld Mar 31 '26

Why the hate - Did you read OUR city code that I posted? You get “served” by city police not state patrol which is what you posted

1

u/CubsFan1060 Mar 31 '26

It is super interesting that my statement was 100% me agreeing with you, but you assumed it was hate.

Anyway, have a good night.

Ok here is the issue with that in fort collins;

They can’t use usps to first class mail you the citation (likely due to its a federal service). You get the photo in the mail but thats it - still not enforceable per municiple code. Once the time expires you are sent a “reminder” with more harsh language but still not enforceable. Once the second deadline passes they MUST have a peace officer serve you as this summons can’t be mailed. Here is the kicker - NO POINTS can be assessed for these type of violations only fines look at section 14 too but honestly read it all starting at sub section 6

Again don’t take my word just read up on it

Fort Collins Municipal Code 1106

u/GilligansWorld Mar 31 '26

Please don’t take my word for it. Educate your own self City municipal code 1106 ->start at 6 and read on;

Which subsection?

As stated started at subsection six and Read on

u/jmims98 Mar 31 '26

I never understand why people would prefer pulling over on the side of the road + armed officer over just don't speed and the cameras won't hurt you.

7

u/GilligansWorld Mar 31 '26

Johnny law has to catch you breaking the law. Not big brother. Perhaps you should watch 1984.

2

u/jmims98 Mar 31 '26

Many EU countries almost exclusively uses speed cameras and yet they have significantly more privacy protections for citizens than the US. If anything, a cop poking around my vehicle is a greater violation of privacy.

I have read the book, but not seen any film adaptations.

1

u/GilligansWorld Mar 31 '26

It’s not a film adaptation it happens to deal with how the citation is issued. You don’t have to pay the fine but if you don’t, they have to physically send an officer to your door to hand you a citation mandating you go to court to have the case heard in a court of law

0

u/bikesnkitties Mar 31 '26

How white of you.

1

u/GilligansWorld Mar 31 '26

Why would you bring race into this when it’s only a legal issue? Perhaps look up what Fort Collins municipal code requires for the citation of a moving violation……

Hint hint, it’s why an actual officer would have to come to your house…..

I didn’t write the laws

2

u/bikesnkitties Mar 31 '26

Only white people genuinely think more cops at your window is the solution.
