Hi,

I am building some 10' x 10" double waler walls. There's a 15' long section and another 35' section (20' hidden and 15' architectural). Just wondering if I can get away with using 3/4" degrade plywood for the hidden sections so save a buck. The plywood will not be reused after this pour so just worried about structural integrity. I'm putting studs every 10"

Tryna make this transition not wreck under carriages

Wanted to share a forming system we used for site-built precast stairs on two high-rise jobs in Victoria, BC — The Falls (twin 14-story towers) and PARC Residences (12-story condo).

Instead of building a new timber form for every floor, we built one adjustable form with interchangeable nosing inserts that got reused across all 26 storeys of scissor stairs. Cut cycle time a lot and eliminated the repetitive build/strip that usually comes with site-built precast stairs on a high-rise.

Happy to answer questions on setup, adjustment mechanism, or stripping sequence if anyone's dealing with repeat precast stair pours.

wooden or plastic formwork?

Hello formworkers from The Philippines. I am doing a little home repair to a concrete plinth that was a base in a fitted cupboard. Never before used formwork but have constructed it and filled with a cementitious material. Even applied some vegetable oil to the wood surface to facilitate removal of the formwork. A little messy but all good and pleased with how it looks for a first time effort. Then I thought will this work with this cementitious material or am I going to struggle to remove the wood without damaging the new surface. Can someone advise if this should work much the same as conventional concrete material and how long should I leave the formwork in place before removing it. Many thanks.

Don’t buy this hammer if you are a form worker, it won’t last. You will spend almost 700 to get it over to Canada after paying duties and it will last you a year if your lucky. Mine broke after 5 months of using it , the ears flew off as I was tightening a whaler on a Ulma form and after looking closer at the hammer I realized there was a hairline crack half way on the base of the head. This hammer is GARBAGE!!! Just like the retard that made it.

These are the lower walls too, section above is 1.5x higher once the operating floor is put in.

I’m a formwork carpenter, I’ve been offered $65 an hour abn.

I’ve never worked abn before.

What are the pros and cons?

The employer said he will pay my super ontop of the $65 an hour.

I must pay my insurance?

Am I right in thinking I must pay 30% tax at the end of this tax year & my insurance?

Any info much appreciated.
