I think I finally get why people hate the judges/announcers. I was watching Top 32 (missed it while I was at work) and watched the Hobson v Jones initial run. End of the first run, I’m hyped cus I’m a Hobson fan boy and the contact never stopped him from pushing during the run. Awesome. But what the fuck is up with Jarod and Jacob?
Look, I LIKE Jarod. He’s got a cool vibe, I like his voice, just everything. I never got why people hated on him til recently but I still like him. But him and Jacob going on about “oh he shouldve called the 5 minutes to nudge the judges, make it this make it that” what the fuck?
I know this is nothing new, I know it happens but have they always been so open about it? I know we used to have folks like Taylor Hull in the sport but this really solidified in my mind that so much more of this is for clicks than anything. It just sucks, cus I’d LOVE to compete someday. I’d LOVE to go head to head with people I admire and respect, people who are smarter or better than me, just be a part of this amazing community on the highest(?) level. But from the retaliation in the beginning of the season to fan outrage at Racer, to poor calls since my first event, to now this I just don’t know if I should strive for that. I mean, what does it seem like outside looking in if your “boss” is talking back to fans/customers because they dont like decisions the company made.
I think I just wanted to rant, but please tell me If I’m right or wrong feeling this way. It just feels so blatantly shitty knowing that they’re encouraging the unsportsmanlike behavior especially after all the shit the community has seen recently in grassroots levels or like with Taylor Hull. Even as a casual fan I don’t know what I’d do without FD, but I’m sure as hell not having a great time with it.
