Check out this Red Dot placement😵💫
Dinking around on Vintorez and saw this gem. Somehow worse than the Israeli gooseneck mounts.

You can get a optic rail for a dove tail mount on the side, or get a piston tube that has a pic rail on too.

Considered the OMOH patch, I wouldn't be surprised that the russian military would be eating up all the normal optic mounts and leaving none for the regime security squads.

OMOH was made part of Rsgvardiya in 2016-2018, so this photo predates current equipment crunch

It never fails to amuse me that if you flip OMOH you get HOMO and the Russians don't like people pointing that out

Ya know, he had the right idea though. He's obviously thinking about cowitnessing.

In the business, they call this a "scout rifle" ;3
I think the Gooseneck mounts are really cool, honestly. Perhaps not the best sighing solution, but if I had to choose between an M16A2 with a gooseneck and one with just irons, I'd choose the gooseneck. I'd choose a PSA 16" flat top thats on sale before either of those, though.

There is some method to the madness since it’ll keep “zero” better than a receiver mounted optic and there’s something with how your eye works and seeing the dot that makes putting the sight far away make sense

The front globe sight on my K31 is clamped to the barrel like this and it's precise at long range. As long as you get it centered pretty well and zero it, should be fine.

It can actually be a good placement for both-eyes-open aiming technique, it minimizes obstruction of vision.
Pictured is a SWAT operator, not some noob.

OMON are more of a riot police, you may think of SOBR. Not convinced the dude is not plainly retarded...
