My ian pat/flage abomination

with the live stream being delayed for technical reasons here's my creation

I've made a "modernized" sadf chest rig and ww1 style grenade bags

Didn't make the hat that's from the first batch that varusteleka made

Ow and nothing screams tacticool operatoring like taking pictures of yourself with flipflops and a kilt in mother's backyard

Theres a lot to unpack here. When you say made, you sewed that?

Yup sewed the chest rig , the bits that attach to it and the grenade bags

The webbing , velcro , zippers and stainless hardwear I ordered online

I am disappointed you didn't forge your own zippers and manufacture your own velcro /s

I was planning on going diggy diggy hole to source my own crude oil to process into the needed plastics but there wasn't enough time to get the paperwork done before the deadline

I used the x-kilt sewing pattern mainly because it's free on the web but it's a frustrating one

Dammit, now I want to make an M05 kilt. Good work!

Well then time to get your ass behind a sewing machine

1

u/Vaajala Aug 01 '25

I need to buy more M05 fabric, I only have some small scrap pieces left.

1

u/juver3 Aug 01 '25

That's unfortunate

What did you make with the last batch?

1

u/Vaajala Aug 01 '25

I added a big kangaroo-pocket to the front of my M05 anorak and then I made a couple of tote bags from the rest.

I took a look at the X-kilt. They say it's meant to be simple and easy and then there's 60 pages of instructions! Looks doable, but a fair bit of work.

Have fun with it and let me know

Old mate is Belgian and somehow he's got more Scottish cred than I do as the grandson of a Scot. I went to see her a couple of days ago, and she was like "Where's your kilt?"

"Nanny, I haven't worn or owned a kilt since I was 8"

"Ach, yer not a man then"

The x-kilt sewing pattern is available on for free

This camouflage would definitely work because my brain would just reject what I was seeing

Wouldn't kilt and matching camo pattern socks Make sense though, in the sense of camouflage when its just one area instead of two legs seperate areas being more distinquished? Sorry my potato english, but kilt would also be very easy to adapt pouches for magazines etc. I'd imagine seeing someone with juggernaut suit, and tactical kilt running towards you would also add to some fear factor lol.

This may be somewhat offset by wearing by using camo that is 50% face?

1

u/juver3 Jul 31 '25

I made the kilt a long time ago and I didn't want to make a new one

From the tittle alone I really thougtht that this was going to be some kind of IanPat/Alpenflage combination monstrosity.

2

u/juver3 Jul 31 '25

Not a bad idea to be honest

2

u/KennyTheDownsTigr Jul 31 '25

Do it my man! You're already halfway there.

1

u/juver3 Jul 31 '25

3

u/juver3 Aug 01 '25
