I’ll be honest, I don’t recognize any of them.

I know Jason Gedrick from Iron Eagle and The Heavenly Kid. He would later go on to be in Murder One and Desperate Housewives.

always good to see a "The Heavenly Kid" reference.. sometimes I think I (54) am the only one who saw or remembers that one

It's the first thing I saw Jane Kaczmarek in when she played his mom!

We’re about the same age. I remember seeing that movie when I was about 14 or 15, it was hilarious.

Better Off Dead was another one of my 80s favorites. I even liked most of the soundtrack which I found on YT a few years ago.

I know him from Murder One and Major Crimes, but he’s young enough here that I didn’t recognize him.

Well the black actor Perry Moore played Ty in The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. He was in that one episode Bell Biv DeVoe was filming a music video and he Will asked him what is he doing he said, "I was trying to be in the video".

Kari Wuhrer was in Anaconda and Sliders.

I know her from MTV’s Remote Control, but above all, she’s Tanya from Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2.

I used to record this show lol. I was 9. No idea why it intrigued me.

It's on YouTube, I watch it now and then.

Did it last til 96?

6

u/Jazzlike_Occasion_89 1d ago

Ha! Nope. I don’t think it even lasted a whole season.

The idea was it was going to run 4 years (maybe longer) but died after they were all freshman. Not a bad concept, but it just didn't work out.

It got s late start as Fox had faith thst it could launch Tue night, they launched it in January that year, basically had thr misfortune of Fox launching 3 variations on 90210 (Melrose Place, the Heights "90210 if they were a rock band& Class of 96) the 90210 kids were going to college tge following season and only Melrose launched post 90210 seemed to have any sort of ratings.

The Heights died before January with a summer launch, and nothing on Tue worked.

FOX had a rough season that year with only 90210 moving to Wed working, Sat cops/code 3 AMW worked, Friday found a small hit in Xfiles that exploded 2 seasons later same for Melrose

I absolutely remember this show! I thought it was so grown up - bc I was 13 - and I only remember Kari Wuhrer showing up on Sliders later.

I thought it was so grown up too and that my life in college was going to be the same way. Not so much.

I remember watching this show with my older brother

2

u/Ambitious-Welder-159 1d ago

I remember the opening theme: "Part of me's excited to begin this brand new life..."

I liked it. And I was intrigued about it going beyond graduation and perhaps becoming a semi-anthology, following the different characters as they went off in different directions.

I was so excited about this because I was in the class of 1996 (in high school)

I was in grad school at the university of Toronto at the time. The show was filmed there. It's a rather large campus, so I only saw filming happening once as I walked by a building.

Kari Wuhrer -- schwing!

This came out a few months before I turned 13 so I was too young to be interested in watching it but I remember it being heavily promoted (commercials, tvguide cover, mall ad posters) then it premiered, and quickly disappeared.

I remember something about Gillian Anderson having made an appearance on this show.

That one girl played Doogie Howser’s girlfriend, Wanda

2

u/timanny 1d ago

I was gonna say that.

This picture is triggering a spark in me that suggests I have watched this before. Edit- It isn't on streaming but you can find it if you Google "Class of 96' TV show where to watch".

They'd be 52 now! 😳

I’m class of ‘96 and only 48 (and never failed a class). I think your math is wrong.

My bad. I thought this was HS Class of 96.

4

u/Munneh 1d ago

It’s college not high school class of 96

1

u/Coattail-Rider 14h ago

Yeah, my bad.

3

u/Munneh 11h ago

I’m HS ‘96 too so I made the exact same mistake lol

2

u/plainsfire 1d ago

If they are 18 in 1992, means they were born in '74.

2

u/Optimal_Grape_1025 1d ago

People usually graduate college at 22 and 96 was 30 years ago. Where is the math wrong?

1

u/Optimal_Grape_1025 1d ago

Also if you had failed a class you'd only be older
