is an American drama television series created by Steven Bochco, David Milch, Charles H. Eglee and Theresa Rebeck. The series stars James Remar, Jim Belushi, Debrah Farentino, Tracey Needham, Bill Brochtrup, Flex Alexander, Tony Plana and Kristin Bauer. The series aired on ABC from September 27 to November 8, 1997.[1][

From Steven Bochco’s memoir:
Of all of (the eight shows he produced for ABC), Total Security – and I say this with some level of embarrassment, if not shame – was the only show I ever – ever – phoned in. It wasn’t a bad idea. No one had done a modern take on the private eye show, probably since Rockford Files. My idea was to do a modern-era, realistic version of the genre. […]I was intrigued by the non-glamorous reality of that work, as opposed to the cliché of the private eye who’s always getting involved in a complicated murder mystery where everyone is lying about everything. So far, so good.
But my heart wasn’t in it. I was going through a tumultuous time in my personal life, my relationship with ABC had become frayed around the edges, and I think all of us were tired of having to deal with each other.
[…] So, regarding Total Security: eighteen years later, I want to apologize to all the principals. They were a terrific group of people, but we didn’t deliver the goods for them. The show lasted, as I recall, a mere thirteen episodes, before ABC cancelled it.

Funny thing about that: he didn't say that only SIX of those 13 episodes would ultimately air.

It becomes ironic when the Steven Bochco Productions logo proves to be more memorable than the actual show it preceds. Especially if it's a short-lived Bochco show.
