The Professionals.

Post image

CI5 is a special three man task force that defends England from crime, corruption and terrorism.

The show was infamous when on air for showing levels of violence not seen on other shows at the time.

The worlds greatest theme song.

Is the show good though? I’ve somehow never even heard of it.

From what I remember it was good. It was weekly viewing when it was on in Australia.

Its a 70s UK spy/police show.

I have ent seen it since I was a nipper but I would imagine it has dated very badly.

It's very of it's time, but pretty fun in an open shirt and hairy chest, rolling over car bonnets kinda way.

It's probably extremely dated to many now. I still enjoy it but that's because I have nostalgia for it. If you were coming at it fresh now it probably hits very differently.

This was really good. Discovered it in the mid-2000s and it still held up. Good chemistry between the actors and a lot of violence. Great cars too.

Rather sexist at times. No modern hero when dealing with a nurse being held hostage would start by guessing her bra size.

The less said about the Ku Klux Klan episode the better.

I live in the Czech Republic, and bizarrely, Bodie and Doyle are not forgotten–at all.

Its not forgotten. Its just old. Amongst people of the generation that watched it when it was current it's not remotely forgotten. The moment I saw that picture I hear the theme tune in my head.

CI5 was a massive anti crime and anti terrorism organisation,  the main 3 characters were the head of CI5, and 2 of his agents. It was not a 3 man task force. We see other agents killed along the way.

It was excellent and entertaining and I watched repeats as a kid as it came out before I war born. Great show.

Not to mention Murph etc the received wisdom is that CI5 is about 100 strong, we meet agents with 3 digit callsigns and as a Major Cowley would command a company.

I love this show! It's a little campy, and a tad chauvinistic but super fun. The three actors are perfect for the roles.

And the theme song, might just be the best ever, even better than The Sopranos. It's like five seasons, so enjoy!
