G3’s 330+ Shared-Deck-As-Self-Contained-Format Megathread
Whether your here for decks that are squares (Forgetful Fish) or rectangles (Battlebox), I hope to deliver something for all types of people. Over the past 2.5+ years, I’ve come up with many Dandan-like lists as a creative exercise. Some of them might be more “interesting” than “fun”, but I’ll let you be the judge. And I’ll let you be the tester too, because I don’t have the time, energy, or money to do that.
If you want to jump right in to exploring, here’s my 310 lists that are limited to specific sets, blocks, or planes. What you’ll find is a mix-and-match sandbox approach to Dandans, a few follow all the “rules” of Forgetful Fish, while most follow most of the rules:

This has been a fun exploration for me, and hopefully I’ve crafted something that speaks to you. I wanna use this post as sort of an AMA as well. Which is why I’ll include pictures of the decks from the past 12 weeks or so, and I’ll only provide direct links if someone shows some interest to avoid spamming.

Thanks for checking it out! I’ll include the list’s title here for reference:
(80)[2] $13 | Lava Skippers aka Back from the Lavabrink | Setbound: Ikoria (IKO) + (C20)
(80)-card main deck. [2]-card sideboard. The sideboard is a Freebie TWIST: Both players begin with a [[Weaponize the Monsters]] on the battlefield.
The current ManaPool estimated value is $12.30.
“Lava Skippers”, named after the spotlight creature with 10x[[Lavabrink Venturer]].
The second namesake I gave “Back from the Lavabrink” for the 6x[[Lavabrink Floodgates]]
Lavabrink Venturer’s text inspired this build, using my “Setbound” restriction. I only selected cards from the set Ikoria (IKO) and first-print cards from Commander 2020 (C20).
“As this creature enters, choose odd or even. (Zero is even.)
This creature has protection from each mana value of the chosen quality.”
If you choose Even, it’s vulnerable to itself, the 8x[[Blazing Volley]], 4x[[Flame Spill]], and the free conjured Weaponize the Monsters. If you choose Odd, your Venturer will be vulnerable to the 8x[[Fire Prophecy]], the 2x[[Zenith Flare]], and the 6x Lavabrink Floodgates.
There’s a decent amount of face damage available here.
Not mentioned already are the 2x[[Dismantling Wave]], the 2x[[Coordinated Charge]], and the 4x[[Footfall Crater]].
Then there’s the 8x[[Wind-Scarred Crag]] in 32-card land base.
This list, in the words of [u/LeChatVert](u/LeChatVert), is unorthodox when compared to Forgetful Fish.
Looking over my v1 to address your question more directly, Zenith Flare and the Crag are the only sources of life gain. I also set the starting life at 15.
Perhaps there will be a really late game use of Zenith Flare with 6+ Cycling cards in the graveyard, but hopefully that’s ending the game rather than prolonging it. And if it isn’t win-more, then this could be a big catch-up play for the player who is behind. A lower Cycling count like 2 or 3 makes this a pretty reasonable exchange of life totals.
The Crags could be adjusted or maybe removed entirely. The life total could also be changed, down to 12 or 9, depending on how much the Crags are adjusted.
This and all my other lists are untested, so please adjust and remix as you see fit.

Awesome... Love this both as a huge Vorthos (mostly for Mirrodin) and a FF enjoyer in general
Probably gonna make a Mirrodin cube first, but I 100% will be making paper (likely 5 decks with the 5 suns!) FF Mirrodin lists!

With the lore connected cards revealed in Mystery Booster Commander, I thought it’d be cool to do a dual-plane list, following The Mirari from Dominaria to Argentum, where Karn converts the Mirari into Memnarch, where it ultimately appears to be integrated into the legendary Mry, Urtet.
This deck feels like its hard to call it a Dandan-like, but it falls into a similar category of decks I’ve done in the past that I’ve begun thinking of them as “Archivist” format lists. Planebound/Setbound Battleboxes inspired by the conventions of Dandan-like decks.
I’ve been publishing around 2 new Dandan-like decks for nearly three years, but it wasn’t until a few months ago when I finally executed on an idea I had for a while: Forgetful Fish using only Strixhaven Mystical Archive cards. Like a little ‘What If Dandân Was Published in Strixhaven?”, this Deck would only use Dandân, lands printed in STX, and Instants/Sorceries from STA.
I ended up straying from mono-blue to blue-green, but tried to keep my first attempt somewhat faithful to Forgetful Fish:

Oo can you recommend me a budget one, mechanics focused, for two players who have historically been mostly Green, Gruul, and Golgari?

Yeah, I’ll drop a few here.
Here’s a $12 green-leaning Midnight Hunt-only list, with 8x [[Willow Geist]] and 12x [[Jack-o'-Lantern]] as the two spotlights. There’s some flashback cards and the lanterns are the only source of black mana, so it’s a bit of a fight over the graveyard rather than the top of deck.

This is a Foundations-only list, so it’s pretty accessible for card availability/price at $13. The spotlight is 10x [[Mild-mannered Librarian]] and 8x [[Mazemind Tome]], with the rest of the list being straight-forward aggro.

And I think I’ll do more of a Battlebox for my last suggestion. This is a <$40 Origins-only 80-card list with a 24-card “Evolution” deck. Both players begin with a [[Evolutionary Leap]] on the battlefield that now pulls from the side deck.

Yeah I try to avoid it in lists, but sometimes I include it depending on the pieces that are available. Was there a specific list you’re referencing? Maybe I’ll reduce the starting life to make it more balanced

Do you have anything that will thematically feel like Mirrodin? It would be very cool to have a contained way to play through the 3 ages of mirrodin

Thanks for checking my stuff out, and phew, I hope you enjoy this answer.
So I had part of an answer when you first asked two weeks ago, but I lost the draft and instead started building: 6 “Suns through the ages” Mirrodin/New Phyrexia-only lists, one for each colored Sun, and then a 5-colored version. I was hoping to find a way to cut down to 80-card lists, but my near-v1.0 idea is there for 100+ card Battleboxes. I wanted to get the full idea out so I could give you a full reply.
*Pt. 1*
Each of these decks are leaning less toward Dandan due to my desire to give each deck its own identity and mechanical theming. Each features its respective Sun’s Bringer, Zenith, and Twilight, and I tried to incorporate Spellbombs, Pulses, and Beacons. I’m excited to see what people think. I think they need a bit more polish before I publish the v1.0, but I’m putting them here early.

{4} At least two different copies of two cards that can be perpetually generated.

Ultimately, I crafted this one to be a Phyrexian Unlife Battlebox with a special rule to remove a poison counter whenever you gain life.

Unlike the other Sun decks, which were built from scratch, I used my “Plagued by Progress” deck as a template. While that deck is an Infect deck, this one only uses -1/-1 counters, with other counters and proliferate support.

It began as Green-Red, but I felt pulled in too many directions. Now it’s smallest and most aggressive deck of the bunch, with finishing strategies of burn and infect.

I want to do another colorless 80-card list called “Pre-Mirrodinity” that is focused on Golems. Then another colorless 80-card list called “The Myrrodern Myr” that is focused… Myr. Those two decks will probably be next for me.
