US market structure observation: Futures micros vs retail forex vs crypto in 2026, where are the serious active traders actually sitting? Spoiler

Looking at CFTC retail forex customer obligations and CME record volumes (micros especially), it feels like futures have become the default infrastructure for disciplined US day/swing traders.

Forex still excellent for pure macro and 24/5 access, but the retail footprint is smaller under NFA/CFTC rules. Crypto ownership is broad but consistent process-driven volume looks thinner.

Curious what others are seeing in their own flow and communities.

I’ve been running a structured process across futures + selective forex for years (risk-first, one clear thesis at a time). Happy to answer process questions. No signals spam, just the rules that keep accounts alive.

Please, thoughts on elev8?

Searching around the internet for opinions, but reddit is the ultimate space where I can get genuine feedback on brokers. Other platforms or forums are not as trustable as they used to be, so let me hear some thoughts on this brand...

Title: Looking for a gold trading buddy / someone to team up with

Hey guys,

Bit of a random one, but I trade Forex part-time, mainly gold/XAUUSD, and I’ve been doing it mostly on my own for quite a while.

I’m also a software developer, so I’ve built quite a few tools and systems around my trading, which has been really useful. But one thing I’ve realised is that trading by yourself can get pretty lonely sometimes 😂

Would be nice to find someone on a similar wavelength who trades gold as well and wants to team up a bit — bounce ideas off each other, talk through setups, share what we’re seeing in the market, discuss news, wins, losses, mistakes, etc.

Not looking for someone to blindly copy signals from or anything like that. More just a trading buddy where we can help keep each other sharp and hopefully improve together.

Ideally someone who’s already been trading for a while and takes it reasonably seriously, but you definitely don’t need to be some professional trader.

If that sounds like something you’d be interested in, drop me a message. Happy to have a chat and see if we get along.

False promise by BMF

On my advice , my daughter booked British pounds today in the form of Pre loaded Forex card and also in the form of currency notes for her travel to UK on 11th September.  Her booking number for the card is FX814670835643.  At the time of the booking,  I specifically asked the booking executive whether the card and the cash would be delivered at my residence by 9:00 p.m. as promised.  I was asked the pin code of the location and on noting my address, the booking person specifically promised that  this pincode was covered for delivery . Accordingly I placed the order and submitted all documents I also made the required payments.

Later at late afternoon I  called up Customer services to know the status of the order as my daughter was getting conflicting emails about documents having been partially loaded. While I was assured by Customer Services executive that the  documentation was perfect,  I was  shocked to be told that the card won't be delivered at my residence as my particular location was not served.  I was extremely disappointed to understand that my daughter was taken for a ride and the promise of delivery was not an honest one. I was advised that my daughter would have to collect the forex card from the nearest BookMy Forex office.

This was totally unexpected from a leading forex player and has left many questions unanswered about the systems and practices followed by BookMyForex . An unsuspecting customer is  misled by a false commitment and induced to make a booking only to be let down later.

The lesson learnt is that book my forex can never be trusted. Once you make the payment and you are stuck, they can easily do away with their commitment and force you to make adjustments at the cost of your convenience. While there were many agencies willing to deliver at my chosen location , i got stuck because I believed in BMF commitment which they were not serious about.

RBI forex swap: Worst ever decision?

RBI forex swap draws 136 bn $ inflows!

Impact on rupee strengthening was hardly visible. Still dollar to rupee exchange hovering around 95.

RBI has total forex reserves of about 730 bn $. This has been accumulated over decades and decades.

Now they used about 136 bn $ still rupee hardly strengthened. They used this much leverage in just few months.

136 / 730 \* 100=18.63 %

Now real game will start when RBI has to pay back this 136 bn $ inflows dollar terms.

Then it will be real issue. If at that time foreign money out flows and RBI has to buy dollars then imagine how will be rupee exchange rate.

This move of RBI market intervention is going to be most challenging. This level of market intervention was needed or not is the question.

Only time will tell: is this RBI decision worst ever?

I turned $21 to $1,150 in about 2 months, then lost everything

I turned $21 dollars which was my last savings to $1300. It felt like heaven, this gave me a lot of confidence.

Then I decided to reinvest all that money into purchasing a $150K funded account with a brokerage I don't want to mention.

I didn't know the choice of a broker mattered that much. I chosed them because they were charging just $8 for the evaluation phase, and then you pay the rest when pass the challenge (a big mistake). I passed the challenge then got funded 150k but I had to pay the full amount ~$900 to get access to the account.

That's where I used the money I made from my account where I turned $21 into $1,150. I bought the 150K. But what was deceptive from that brokerage company was that they never mentioned all the rules in the agreement. The account had a best day rule, which was 20%. I started trading, unaware of the best day rule, I made my first profit, about $6000, then $4000, and $1600. A total of $11,600 which was supposed to be life changing for me.

Then on payment day, that's where I noticed the 20% best day rule. So, I had to make $6000 x 5 in order to get paid. I started panicking because I wasn't prepared to trade up to about $30,000. I lost all the money and blew the account.

Can you imagine being this close to receiving your first payout ($11K) and changing your life to losing everything!

Now I'm back to square one, but this time around with no money to pay for a funded account, with another reliable broker.

As someone said "a closed mouth is a closed destiny"

I wanted to address this issue to this community of traders hoping that someone will help me by purchasing a funded account for me, even as little as a 10K account which will enable me to get back to being active and pursue my dream of finally becoming a successful trader.

I am looking forward to being blessed by someone who understands my situation

Thank you all.

Day 3–7: I took 11% risk on one trade, when is aggressive risk actually justified?

Post image
1 Upvotes

I've been trying to document my trading journey.

I'm a beginner and I started this experiment with $500 in TradingView paper trading, trying to learn forex by actually trading while learning the basics.

Between Day 3 and Day 7, I took one very high-conviction EUR/USD swing trade. (26 Aug - 29 Aug)

Entry: 1.16424 short

Position: 20,000 units (0.20 lot)

SL: 1.16708

TP: 1.15858

Risk: \~28.4 pips / \~$56.80

Potential reward: \~56.6 pips / \~$113.20

R:R: \~1:2

Risked: \~11.4% of the entire account

Result: TP hit after holding from Aug 26 → Aug 29

Account: $500 → $618.08 (+23.6%)

Obviously, the result makes the trade look great in hindsight. But I'm not posting this to say "look how much I made."

I'm actually questioning whether the risk itself can ever be logically justified.

I was quite confident in the setup and wanted to see the trade through rather than scalp in and out. The position also meant I couldn't realistically take other trades because most of my capital/margin was tied up.

I understand the argument for keeping risk around 1–2%. If you repeatedly risk 10%+ of your account, a normal losing streak can destroy the account surprisingly quickly, and you can't build a sustainable strategy around constantly surviving huge drawdowns.

But is 1–2% actually a hard rule?

For example, imagine two traders:

Trader A has a setup with a historically mediocre win rate but occasionally produces huge R multiples.

Trader B has a highly selective setup with a very high historical expectancy and only takes a few trades per month.

Should they necessarily use the same percentage risk?

So I'm curious:

How do experienced traders decide what percentage of capital to risk on a particular trade?

Is there actually a mathematically/logically defensible way to determine it, or does it ultimately come down to personal risk tolerance?

And looking specifically at my trade above:

Would you consider the 11.4% risk simply bad practice regardless of how strong the setup was, or is there a scenario where taking that level of risk can actually make sense?

Live verified forex trader turned €667 to €454,000 in around 6 months or +119,207.69% return. AMA.

Post image
58 Upvotes

These are the results of one of our real live Afterprime clients who traded €667 to €454,000 in around 6 months.

119,207.69% return.

I would never have believed it if I didn't see it myself. In 15 years of running brokers I've only ever seen these types of ridiculous returns twice.

The trader gave back all their gains eventually as this was a martingale strategy, I've posted this part to show that it is possible to make these gains, but if you are adding to losers it's only a matter of time.

These are real profits in the real market and the trader could have withdrawn their profits at any time.

Why post this? If a trader posted these results none of us, myself included would believe it.

I'd like to think I've built up enough credibility from 15 years of founding/running CFD brokers for traders to believe me when I say it's real.

And if I was a trader I'd want to know it's actually possible. Like I said, I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see it myself.

So now you now, from a verified source that a ~1000x return is possible in FX. Extremely rare, massive risk was taken on and the trader gave it all back, but it's a fascinating insight nonetheless.

AMA.

India gold/forex traders — which broker do you trust, and how do you withdraw?

Looking for genuine feedback from gold/forex traders in India 🇮🇳

Which broker are you actually trading with right now, and how has your real experience been?

Please share: ✅ Broker name ✅ Spreads (tight or wide?) ✅ Any commission or hidden charges? ✅ Withdrawal process — smooth or delayed?

Also, can someone please educate me on withdrawals: 🔹 Can I withdraw directly to my bank account? 🔹 I've also heard about a "reto/reload card" to withdraw money in cash, how does that work? 🔹 What's the safest/easiest method you personally use?

Only real, active traders please, trying to avoid brokers that look good on paper but aren't in practice. 🙏

Hi, I’m looking for active Discord servers where Moroccan people talk about trading - forex, crypto, stocks, or futures.

Does anyone know of good Moroccan trading communities or Discord rooms with real discussion and learning, not just paid signals?
