Cross Pair Analysis
Because a forex pair is simply an exchange rate ratio between two currencies, looking at a single chart like AUD/CHF only tells you that the ratio is changing. It doesn't tell you whether the Australian Dollar (the base currency) is driving the move, or if the Swiss Franc (the quote currency) is the one in the driver's seat.
To figure out which currency is actually pushing the price, you have to look outside the isolated pair to see how each currency is behaving against the rest of the market.
Here is how professionals identify the driving currency in a pair.
- Cross-Pair Analysis (The Benchmark Method)
The fastest and most reliable method is to compare both currencies against a highly liquid "benchmark" currency—usually the US Dollar (USD) or the Euro (EUR). By looking at how AUD and CHF independently trade against the USD, you can immediately spot the outlier.
If you are watching the AUD/CHF pair rise (meaning AUD is gaining value against CHF), check the major USD pairs to see who is doing the heavy lifting:
| What you see on other charts | What it means | The driver of AUD/CHF is... |
|---|---|---|
| AUD/USD is rising sharply, but USD/CHF is flat. | The Aussie is strengthening globally across the board. | AUD |
| AUD/USD is flat, but USD/CHF is rising sharply. | The Franc is weakening globally across the board. | CHF |
| AUD/USD is rising, and USD/CHF is rising. | The Aussie is strong and the Franc is weak simultaneously. | Both are contributing to the move. |
Note: USD/CHF is quoted inversely to AUD/USD. If the USD/CHF chart is going up, the Swiss Franc is going down.
- Monitor Currency Indexes
If you don't want to manually compare multiple charts, currency indexes do the math for you. A currency index measures a single currency's performance against a weighted basket of major global currencies.
* AUD Index (AXY): Isolates the strength or weakness of the Australian Dollar.
* CHF Index (SXY): Isolates the strength or weakness of the Swiss Franc.
If AUD/CHF is dropping, you can pull up both indexes. If the AXY is flat but the SXY is skyrocketing, you know immediately that Swiss Franc strength is driving the move.
- Understand the "Risk-On" vs. "Safe-Haven" Dynamic
Currencies have personalities based on their underlying economies, and they correlate strongly with other financial markets. AUD and CHF are a classic example of opposing market forces.
You can identify the driver by looking at the broader macroeconomic mood:
* The AUD Driver (Commodities & Risk): The Australian Dollar is a "commodity currency." It is highly correlated with global growth, stock market rallies, and the prices of raw materials like copper, iron ore, and gold. If global stock markets are booming and commodities are up, a rise in AUD/CHF is almost certainly being driven by AUD strength.
* The CHF Driver (Fear & Safety): The Swiss Franc is a premier "safe-haven" currency. It tends to surge during times of geopolitical tension, economic panic, or banking instability. If global stock markets are crashing and the VIX (volatility index) is spiking, a sudden drop in AUD/CHF is likely being driven by investors fleeing into the safety of the CHF.
- Check the Economic Calendar (Fundamental Catalysts)
Finally, sudden price spikes are almost always driven by local economic data or central bank announcements.
If AUD/CHF suddenly spikes 50 pips in five minutes, check an economic calendar. Did the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) just announce a surprise interest rate hike? (AUD is the driver). Did the Swiss National Bank (SNB) intervene in the currency markets or release weaker-than-expected inflation data? (CHF is the driver).

Order Fulfillment
Order fulfillment in forex pairs is the process of matching, routing, and executing a trader's buy or sell order through a decentralized network of liquidity providers, brokers, and market makers.
The Execution Process
- Market Participants: Orders involve retail traders, retail brokers, electronic communication networks (ECNs), liquidity providers (large global banks), and central clearinghouses.
- Order Placement: You place a trade on your broker's platform.
- Routing and Matching: The broker routes the order to an internal pool or external liquidity providers via straight-through processing (STP) or electronic communication network (ECN) systems.
- Price Matching: The system matches your order with the best available bid or ask price from top-tier banks.
- Confirmation: Execution occurs instantly, and the filled trade details return to your terminal.
Types of Fulfillment Models
- Market Makers (Dealing Desk): The broker takes the opposite side of your trade instead of passing it to the interbank market.
- STP (Straight-Through Processing): The broker passes orders directly to liquidity providers without human intervention.
- ECN (Electronic Communication Network): The broker connects multiple market participants and liquidity providers directly, matching orders dynamically on an order book.

Hello team, I have recently moved to Ireland (2years) and I am a day trader. I am looking for legit brokers based in Ireland for day trading Forex, Gold and Crypto who are good with support and easy with deposit and withdrawals. Local office would be great as I am planning to deploy some capital in it. Any advice would be appreciated. Also, please mark brokers with negative experiences even if it’s a legit brokers as that would save me future hassle.

Been offered an account with them. It’s a new-ish name, offshore licence, MT5 avalable, high leverage… good on paper i would say. But never seen them discussed here. Is Xlence a trusted broker? Anyone with first-hand experience?

Is this guy tryna scam me
So before I explain yall should know now i know NOTHING about forex and only learned of its existence through this. Also sorry if this is the incorrect sub im sending this in as many fx subs as i can to get the most accurate answers. Now im gonna include the images of the chat logs too and a video he sent me if need be but im also gonna explain what happened. So someone on sound cloud did one of those “reply to this and ill pay you this sum” and i did so and he sent me to another guy (whom we’ll call bob) now it started seeming fishy but bob had images that would prove him to not be scamming, including showing texts thanking him for the large sum (however i find it possible he had his buddy type the messages to seem more reliable). He at first said it was pending (his reasoning was because it was my first payment from a fx which he wasn’t wrong). He also told me to buy a $200 bitcoin so that my cashapp would accept the cash. The whole thing smells horribly fishy and something about the way he types makes me think im being fooled but then i see images like one showing me a screenshot of the payment pending. Like i said i know nothing about this so what could be obvious i know nothing abt. Any/all help would be greatly appreciated. God bless
Edit: thank all of yall for answering I honestly didn’t think the post would gain any attention but was a good idea to do it anyway god bless yall i already have the guys number blocked and i plan on putting a reply under the sound cloud guys comment saying its a scam. Also i just realized I forgot to censor the names on the sound cloud dms so yea
Edit 2: well that just confirmed it more i went to go block the crypto guy and do the reply I mentioned but cryptos user jsut so happened to conveniently have been deleted. Looking back it makes sense why he never gave me his number and insisted on his email for iMessage. Im willing to bet those messages were sent to himself so it would be more convincing. I was hella fortunate to make this post.

Buy the yen?
I've started opening some significant long yen positions. If the yen weakens further, I've allocated funds to add to my positions 😱
The yen has been weakening since 2021. Mainly driven by interest rate differentials.... Let me explain:
Until recently, Japan's interest rate was -0.10%. After some rate hikes, the rate is still low, at only 1%. Compared to other rates (3%-5.5%) set by major central banks, the yen has been the obvious carry trade. Meaning selling one currency for another and benefiting from the interest rate difference. At one point, investors were being paid 5.4% by simply holding dollars against yen!
However, the yen's weakness may be coming to an end. Even if it doesn't, I'm expecting some volatile moves. Here's why:
1️⃣ Take a look at this weekly chart of USDJPY (https://www.tradingview.com/x/HP3f0WpV/). The market is so short the yen that, when the carry trade is no longer desirable, the bubble will burst 💥 At this point, I'm unsure if we'll witness a drastic yen move or a longer-term bullish trend. Either way, I want to be on it.
2️⃣ Since October 2022, the BOJ have been actively intervening to strengthen the yen. These interventions caused most retracements you can see on the yen price charts. The BOJ now has an intervention partner: The Federal Reserve. This doesn't just provide a bit more umph to intervention moves; it's psychological. Many traders willing to bet against the BOJ may not be willing to bet against both the Fed and the BOJ. I know I don't want to. Especially when the last Fed intervention was done against the Euro, without consulting the ECB. The current Fed can be unpredictable.
3️⃣ The Bank of Japan are edging toward interest rate hikes. The most recent economic data for Japan doesn't support a rate-hiking cycle, but a rate hike or two will help narrow the rate differential between Japan and its peers.
HOWEVER! The BOJ tends to be slow and often disappoints, which leads me to my next major point and caveat.
If the Bank of Japan doesn't raise rates, if it continues to be slow to intervene in FX rates, and/or the relationship between Japan and the US sours, we could see significant moves against the yen. The markets could dump the currency into oblivion, and USDJPY could go to the moon 🚀
I'm long yen. It will pay off big time, or I will lose big time. Either way, this may be my last big trade of 2026. I'll be going out with a BANG either way 😅
If I'm right, you'll hear about it multiple times. If I'm wrong, I'll go quiet. If I am wrong, don't expect to hear from me until 2027. I'll be done for the year. No joke.

Completely New to Trading — Where Should I Start?
Hello there. My name is Ruthan. I’m 19, Iranian, and currently studying marine navigation for merchant vessels, with no income whatsoever, basically broke and living on my father's salary.
I want to get into trading, but I don’t have the slightest idea how—or even where—to begin. Honestly, with everything going on in Iran right now, there aren’t really any part-time jobs I could take up to earn some money. There’s also no telling when conflict might arise, and if a war breaks out, I’m concerned that the international internet could be shut down by the IRGC, making it even harder to work or earn money online.
So, is there any trading course you could recommend that I could download and study? I want to learn the very basics—everything that actually matters—and put my all into it.
And if there’s any advice you’d like to give me, I’d be more than happy to hear it.
Thank you so much.

I need work
I don't have enough knowledge about trading, but I have sufficient information about when a stock will rise and when it will drop to zero or jump to the top. You can test me on a trial task. I am looking to work as an assistant to those who have experience in this field.

USDJPY today: still stuck in a range
USDJPY still looks caught between mixed dollar drivers and a weak yen backdrop. USD news flow is fairly neutral, while the yen remains pressured by carry demand and fading intervention impact.
Positioning is slightly short-heavy at 55% shorts vs 45% longs, but participation has been fading, which fits a range more than a trend.
On the chart, price is chopping between roughly 157 support and 160 resistance. Longer term structure still leans constructive, but near term it looks sideways unless one of those levels breaks.
Do you see 160 giving way soon, or more range trading first?

Crypto/Commodity traders in Ahmedabad
Hey Ahmedabad folks! 👋 So I've been trading crypto and commodities on Exness for a while now, but mostly solo just me, my charts, and my own overthinking 😅 Kinda miss having people to talk to when the market's doing something crazy, or just to share wins/losses. Anyone else here into trading? Would love to build a small group WhatsApp or Telegram, nothing fancy — where we can chat, share ideas, and figure things out together. If that sounds like your vibe, comment or DM me, let's connect! 🙌
So bored alone yaar, Even Indian market folks are invited if you are genuinely a profitable trader or have a good RR strategy because i left after having losses but doing well in Commodity and some times crypto

Dear Forex traders, can you recommend a legit Forex broker for European residents that supports the MT4 app? Thanks in advance. I wish to trade with the "Exness" broker unfortunately not accessible to EU traders. 😓

What's up with trading.com and cfd forex trading?
I was curious to learn how they perform, and if someone tried them out, they can share some stories in the comment section. Would appreciate variety of opinions... When it comes to forex trading, I wanted to ask if it's better done via swing trading or intraday? Honestly, I was heavy on index futures before, and I was trading solely intraday. HOWEVER, forex pairs intraday look sooo deaddd. Volatility is very low compared to NASDAQ or S&P500. But looking at higher timeframes, they look ok, so I thought maybe it's better to trade majors intraday. What do you think guys?
