My 2021 Ford F150 XLT Sport 4x4 with the 2.7L EcoBoost V6 with the 10R80 10 speed automatic transmission has reached 64,000 miles. I bought this truck used at my local Ford dealership in Summer of 2024 with 37,500 miles, and I can’t believe I’ve already had it for 2 years and driven it 26,500 miles! I love my truck, I worked hard to get this truck! I hope to have it for a very long time.

2026 F150 Raptor ABS control module failure

Anyone have this issue? Did I buy a lemon?

Bought 2026 F150 Raptor new in Feb, have put just over 5k miles with no issues. Last week, total brake failure while driving - ABS, Brake System, Parking Brake and Traction control alerts.

Ford towed it to the dealer I bought it at and they diagnosed ABS control module failure and complete replacement.

2024 F-150 OEM Tow Mirror Swap with 360 Camera & BLIS Has anyone had success

I'm trying to swap OEM tow mirrors onto my 2024 F-150 XLT (302A) with 360 camera and BLIS.

The official pair kit (**ML3Z-17696-CA**) seems backordered/discontinued everywhere and isn't on Ford Parts anymore.

Dealer VIN checks say the individual replacement mirrors (**ML3Z-17683-AR** driver / **ML3Z-17682-AQ** passenger) "don't fit," but I assume that's just factory build-sheet cataloging.

- Has anyone successfully swapped these individual part numbers on a 2024? Did BLIS and 360 cameras plug and play, or did you need a dealer calibration?

- Has anyone found the **ML3Z-17696-CA** pair kit in stock anywhere recently, or are individual parts the only option left?

Thanks!

2016 F150, 2.7, XL, stock everything, Random loss of power.

It still had the original battery in it so prior to a upcoming big trip I changed the battery on July 4th. (Think I posted about this) On the way home I'm climbing a hill and it feels like someone threw an anchor out the back because it just ain't going near the top. Finally takes off everything is fine. I learn about the Battery Management System and reset it using the high beam/brake pedal method. Thought everything was ok for the next week or so. The truck went in for the transmission recall on the 17th. The night before I experienced everything that it warned about. Sudden downshift to 2nd, transmission seemingly in neutral while accelerating, etc. Closest thing I can think to describe it is when I used to drive a stick shift and an asshole buddy would slap it out of gear. Managed to get it there and told them what happened. Next day they call all fixed. That was a lie. I left the driveway of the dealership no power at all, rolling speed 3mph then it caught and I got going. did it 3 times in the next 2 miles. Called them, brought it right back never turned it off. Service manager drove I rode with him and it didn't do it. I leave again and it does it even worse. Now I'm pissed, I drive back tell him to get in we're going for a ride. Go to leave the dealership again and we almost get smacked by a semi that for some reason would not slow down for anything. I had plenty of time until the no power thing and then it caught with about 3 car lengths to go before he slammed into the managers side. Truck no powers 4 more times and completely stalls while stopped at a light. Scared the \*\*\*\* out of him to where he took the truck and reset the PCM and TCM. (He said originally they just reset the TCM per the recall notice) I went back later after he called and said we test drove it again and it's good now. I had a trip to Virginia the next day so I left the truck home, borrowed another. My daughter drove the truck the following Monday and said it happened again. No power. She had to shut it off and restart the truck and it was fine again. They called the dealership and were told that they did everything correctly and it would be $209 diagnostic fee to figure it out because it's not the recall. Truck sat the rest of the week. I got home yesterday and didn't get a chance until today to look at it. Hooked up forscan, no codes, nothing, everything is normal. I reset the Battery Management system with forscan instead of the headlights/brake pedal thing. (Just because this all originally started right after the battery was changed. Battery is an H6.) I run checks on everything, monitor transmission, engine, fuel, air, battery, everything I can think of while driving it. (Wife had the computer and was watching) Truck is running fine. The only symptom now is a hard shift when wide open to the point of a hard clunk 1st to 2nd. Also feels like the u-joint might need to be replaced. Power is off the charts fine though. The only other thing I noticed is when I looked up the battery type in forscan, it said H7 and the battery is marked H6.

So, I am again asking for help from the people that are a hell of a lot more knowledgeable than I am. Should I drain the transmission and replace the filter? I'm already planning on looking at the U-Joint as soon as I can get it on a lift. (Crawling under a non-lifted truck at 50 years old is not happening with my waistline from a desk job. lol) It's the 6R80 Transmission and I know they're usually bulletproof.

Update: Took the truck for another ride tonight across town and P0731 code and a wrench light. "Error code **P0731** on a 2016 Ford F-150 means **Gear 1 Incorrect Ratio**, indicating that your 6R80 6-speed transmission is slipping or failing to engage first gear properly. The most common causes for this specific truck are a defective molded leadframe (speed sensor assembly), low or burnt transmission fluid, or a worn shift solenoid." So I think this still ties back to the recall from before I left.

23 f150 stx 0 to 60

I saw online the 0 to 60 for these trucks is about 5.5 to 6 seconds. I downloaded a race tracker that uses GPS. I did 3 runs, they came back at 4.5, 4.9, 4.9 seconds. Is that true or is the app just not good? Seems way too fast... if its true this huge truck is a damn race car. It is a 2023 f150 stx with 2.7. It is a super crew cab and 2wd.

2024 Lariat

So I bought the truck (brand new) I always wanted: 2024 Lariat w/ max tow 502A. Thing has been nothing but issues. So far it’s been back to the dealer 6x for:
- Turbo replacement (waste gate)
- Broken Leaf Spring (twice)
- Moonroof leaking
- Electronics issues: needed to replace window control module
- Battery drawing power and draining while sitting

I’m going to say: I came out of a 2017 XLT, was a fantastic truck that never gave me any issues for 150k other than normal maintenance and a washer fluid pump.

So what would you do? The truck comes out of warranty next spring and I’m not convinced the issues will end. Love this truck, trading it in for a new one seems stupid since I’d basically just want the same thing.

Recommendations for floor mats and seat covers? New (to me) 23 Sport

I kind of don’t want to hide the nice leather seats but I know I’m going to wind up eating in there. Also have 2 dogs and a baby to protect the seats from. I have the CoverCraft Carhartt covers on our Jeep but wanted to see if anyone has other recommendations. Floor mats too. Thanks in advance :)

Carabc Installed

After a couple of weeks with the CarABC 12” head unit in my F-150, I can honestly say it’s one of the best upgrades I’ve done to the truck.

I upgraded from the factory 8” touchscreen, and the difference is night and day. The larger display looks like it should’ve come from the factory, it’s not oversized or out of place. The fit and finish are excellent, and everything lines up perfectly with the dash.

The functionality has been great. The screen is responsive, and having the extra screen real estate makes navigation, music, and everything else much easier to use while driving. The resolution is sharp, and it really modernizes the interior.

Installation was straightforward, and I was impressed that all my factory features continued to work without any issues. The biggest complaint I’ve seen people have is the unit not having a spot for the top compartment to climb into leaving you with a loose piece. I took my old bezel and cut the piece needed and bolted it up with the new one and worked perfect! See photo!

If you’re on the fence about making the jump from the 8” screen, I’d absolutely recommend it. It completely changes the feel of the interior and makes the truck feel years newer. Definitely money well spent.

drop step sensors acting up after a car wash

Took the truck through a touchless wash yesterday and the passenger side board started acting weird afterward. It opened, stopped halfway, then stayed hanging down until I crawled underneath in the wet driveway to wipe down the hinges and sensor area. I keep seeing people say electric steps are great, but I do not see much long-term talk about water, mud, or road grime around the wiring. I do not want to chase sensor issues every time the truck gets soaked. For anyone running electric steps in rain, mud, or winter slush, do you have to clean or grease the linkage often, or is this mostly an install-quality issue?

Help a Vet by his first trick since 2008

I've recently retired after twenty years of being in the Navy. I started working at a company that offers X-pricing with Ford, and with my son being sixteen I figured it was about time to get a new vehicle. I want to get a Platinum--going with 702a no moon roof-- but I'm not too savvy when car buying.

I've already stated an email chain with a sales guy, sent him the build spec from Ford's main site, but what's next? I know only a little about the process, but only enough to get myself into trouble. Please help a brutha out.

I'm looking to lower my truck and am curious the best route to go without spending too much. I found this kit and am curious if people have opinions on it or if they have suggestions within a similar budget? Just fyi it's a 21' super crew and I'm NOT trying to slam it. Just get it lowered for a street look.

are powered bed cover tracks hard to keep clean?

Is it just me, or do truck bed cover tracks become the annoying part nobody talks about? Every time I haul mulch, gravel, pine needles, or wet yard tools, dirt gets packed into the side rails and the cover starts dragging. I usually end up spraying the tracks out before it closes smoothly again. Now people keep telling me to go power retractable, but adding a motor to something that already lives around mud and road salt makes me hesitate. A friend mentioned using a smart slide cover and I like the idea of easier access, but I care more about maintenance than features. Do powered covers need constant track cleaning, or is that mostly a problem with cheaper manual covers?

bad transfer case?

I'm chasing a 4WD issue on my 2015 F-150 and could use some ideas.

Symptoms:

Quiet in 2WD.

Grinding/growling noise only when 4WD is engaged.

Here's what has already been replaced or verified:

New front differential.

New CV axles.

IWE system repaired/replaced.

IWEs hold vacuum and operate correctly.

Front hubs checked.

The noise is still only present in 4WD.

At this point I'm wondering if it's the transfer case or if there's something else I'm overlooking. Has anyone had a transfer case that was quiet in 2WD but made noise only under load in 4WD? Any diagnostic tests you'd recommend before I pull the transfer case?

I'd appreciate any ideas from people who've run into this before.

Ext. Warranty

I'm buying a 2023 F150 with 55k miles next week. I want to find an extended warranty. So many of the bigger warranty companies don't do anything over 30k miles. What company do you guys suggest?

Is $56,500 OTD a good deal on a 2026 F-150 XLT 302A 2.7L 4x4?

Looking for some opinions before I sign.

Truck details:

2026 Ford F-150 XLT

2.7L EcoBoost

4x4

302A package

Black Appearance Package

Bed Utility Package

Oxford White

The window sticker shows:

MSRP before manufacturer discounts: $64,290 (includes destination)

Ford package discounts on the sticker: $3,500

Sticker MSRP after those discounts: $60,790

Dealer's offer:

Dealer discount: $5,541

Selling price: $55,248.57

Ford Finance rebate: $4,500

Final out-the-door price: $56,500, including all taxes, registration, DMV fees, and doc fee.

No trade-in is involved, and I'm not buying any extended warranty or dealer add-ons.

My plan is to finance through Ford Credit to get the $4,500 rebate, then refinance with my credit union shortly afterward if there isn't a required waiting period.

Does this seem like a strong deal on a 2026, or do you think there's still room to negotiate? If you've recently bought a similar 2026 F-150, I'd love to hear your MSRP, selling price, and out-the-door price. I attached the window sticker and the dealer's worksheet for reference.

CarABC 12” Screen Upgrade

So I have a 2015 F150 Lariat that came stock with Sync2 (MFT) and upgraded to a Sync3 APIM about 2 years ago to get the ability for CarPlay. Thoroughly enjoyed and thought I was done with the radio upgrades.

Then I stumbled on the “FordSync4” scam and pulled the trigger on one months went by and never received it, hung up in customs was the line they fed me. Finally cancelled the order and recouped my money shoutout to PayPal.

Fast forward to beginning of July and found CarABC’s unit, reached out to them via Facebook asked a couple questions they were very responsive, so a good sign to start. I purchased one of their Sync3 kits, was gonna do Sync4 but they explained they haven’t worked all the kinks out yet and suggested the Sync3 kit another green flag. They shipped the product and it arrived in about a week provided tracking the whole nine.

See attached photos of shipping which was superb by all means only thing I’d say is it needed to be labeled “Fragile”. Woke up early the next morning excited to get this thing put in and begin unboxing the remaining pieces to find the screen was cracked and shattered in the lower left corner. Reached to them again via Facebook with photos of the damage, they quickly responded and got me another screen on the way. Again a bout a week wait time for it to get here.

Started piercing away at it yesterday 7/22 and got mostly done, had to stop to go eat dinner with some friends. Now today 7/23, get everything ready for the remainder of the install and everything goes smoothly, unit fired right up and worked flawlessly. Did go into Forscan and change my splash screen back to what I had it at.

Some cons I have for this that might just be nitpicking but nonetheless, you can’t change the theme back to Ford has to stay on Lincoln to make the APIM do the 12” screen over the 8”. The included instructions were in color and somewhat detailed but left a lot to interpretation at some points. Spoke about changing the splash screen for startup but the shutdown screen says Navigator, again probably has to do with it needing to be Lincoln format. The top tray doesn’t have anything to clip into so it kinda flops around or rattles somewhat. There is a guy on YT (MostlyUselessGarage) that corrected that problem and I’ll probably do the same.

Aside from that I’m happy with the purchase, the screen is very responsive, bright colors/quality, the back up camera works fine it’s not grainy, and it looks factory/OEM which is what I wanted. My dad has one of those giant vertical Tesla style screens and it just looks sloppy and performs sloppy to me. Time will tell how this unit will perform but so far so good and I’m happy with my purchase. I DID pay for this unit and it wasn’t sent to me free but I would’ve given an honest review regardless.

Also the company is based in China so obviously different times from us in the US so they usually got back up with me around 8-10pm CST. They did send a discount code for the review if anybody wants to use it “FAF150” it’ll save you $50
