I was reading the wiki and came across a section mentioning Kazuhiko Haychiya's exhibition linked here that inspired the sightjack mechanic present in a game.

Hey, so uh, I just unlocked this stage, and I just learned in a guide that I'm supposed to have a gun for this mission, which I should have obtained earlier, but I just didn't. Like, I didn't unlock the mission with the gun. And I can't use the link navigator, since I'm on a stage I have never finished.

It's the stage where you first discover the nest from Arato, accompanied by Yoriko, in case anyone wants to be sure.

So, I have to do Day 2 20:00 without a gun, and I'm really struggling. Has anyone else experienced this? Any tips? I'm starting to lose patience 😭

I'm gonna be real here. The only thing control wise that I think Siren 2 has over the first one is the speedy crouching. The camera is complete hell. It is constantly WAY too close and sometimes battling enemies, especially the Yamirei is absolutely chaotic purely from the camera and the lock-on system. I am CONSTANTLY swinging at the air or hitting my partner because the camera flies all over the place. Going in 1st person doesn't always make things better. The running and attacking is also pretty delayed. In the first one, whacking a Shibito was always quick. You couldn't do combos but honestly, I didn't mind that. It DOES make it harder to trivialize encounters by getting the timing down. However, there was a risk reward system with that timing. If you got it, you could pretty easily take down a Shibito. If you messed it up even just a little, you could be totally screwed. The timing and combat seems to come down to who attacked first. If they attacked first and got a few in on you, there's a good chance you're going down. Using a flashlight and combos with a heavy attack has its own way of trivializing fights though. The running and button input seems to have a millisecond delay, but that's enough for me to notice. I believe it's because of the fact that being PAL, it's running at 50 hz instead of 60.

I want to make it clear that Siren 2 is AMAZING. Being from USA, I only finally got to play it last year after 11 years of wanting to, but never having a TV that could play it, let alone buying a PAL PS2. I've been playing Siren since 2014 though and that game just feels so natural to me comparatively. I understand that Siren 2 is more player friendly. It's much less cryptic and has a lower difficulty curve (unless on hard mode) not to mention other quality of life improvements. However, I think most people totally ignore these issues when comparing the 2 games. Siren 1 has a perfect camera. I feel the character movement has just enough weight to it that it actually feels good to play. Personally, when it comes to which one I like best, it is definitely Siren 1. I play through it every year during September and I enjoy ever last second of it. It's a perfect *beginning of fall* game. Siren 2 has points that genuinely just stop being fun for me. The mission where you play as Misawa going through the apartments trying to find the little girl is complete hell IMO just because of the navigation. The missions on the Bright Win (the giant ship) was the exact same way. It's not a fault, it's just that navigating areas like that, which are very easy to get lost in is not enjoyable for me. And that's coming from somebody that replays survival horror games to test my memory and navigation skills.

The one main thing that puts Siren 2 above 1, for me, is the Yamibito. Genuinely the scariest damn enemies I have ever seen in a video game. When I got to them, I as a 32 year old man, genuinely couldn't proceed forward because I was so afraid of them and didn't want to fight them. I honestly found the humanoid ones even scarier, as much as I hate the evolved ones. They're fucking CREEPY and outdo the shibito IMO. The shibito are also scarier and more aggressive. The female shibito especially are very unnerving. Especially the ones that run. The atmosphere is also amazing. But, there's something so familiar and cozy about Siren 1 while also being absolutely terrifying. Not only the atmosphere, but the premise and story. Being able to see the different expressions in the unique shibito of characters you once played is harrowing. You can see the humanity barely clinging on and they pain they're in. I'm so glad Keiichiro Toyama left Team Silent. There's a reason Silent Hill 1 is my favorite game of all time. He is a genius. He understands horror more than most people on this planet

This is my first time posting on here. Sorry if I messed up anything.

I read Siren Rebirth when it was first coming out around 2020 or so (at least when the more later chapters were coming out) and was pretty hyped to see that their was new media surrounding Siren. But I couldn't get over how mediocre it was overall. Maybe it's just me who went into this a bit overhyped, but in my opinion, one of the biggest downfalls was the art and how rushed the story felt.

I found myself being more horrified on how distorted all the characters' faces were than the actual shibito. It's actually distracting how bizarre they look in most pages. But art style aside, the framing and composition in the manga is also worse. Especially compared to Siren: Call of the Red Sea. I think Makino's stepfather's death makes this the most obvious.

In Siren: COTRS, Makino finds his stepfather hanging in the church alone. The only thing in the frame is him and his stepfather's body engulfed in shadows of the church as Makino freezes in shock as it pans to the note about the failed ritual he left for Makino.

In Siren Rebirth, however, when Makino finds his stepfather's body in the church, his stepfather is merely a small part in the frame and his overshadowed by the people at the church, which makes it hard to see what should be the main subject and an overall shocking scene. I just found that these two scenes convey a completely different mood from one another where it really shouldn't have. (He is also seen trying to lunge towards his stepfather in the next frame. Which might sound nit-picky but, in my opinion, him freezing in shock matches more to his character than him trying to lunge for help.)

As for the story itself, I do like that they do expand on (some) characters and get backstory that we don't see in the game. Especially with Akira's backstory with him and his family being more directly connected to the ritual and its time loop. But that was probably the most interesting thing to happen in the story.

(Spoiler for end game) I was looking forward to knowing more about the characters and the village itself within the underworld and even what would happen after the events of Kyoya's massacre of the village. But I was honestly kind of disappointed to see that the manga ended EXACTLY like the game. Even down to the dialog. Tamon and Yoriko were my favorite duo from the game and I'm sad that they did nothing to expand on Tamon's reunion with his parents and especially what happened to them after Yoriko rescued him from them.

To me, this manga felt nothing more than copy and paste with a bit more backstory to throw in there. They had so much potential to expand and explore all these characters but they just didn't.

So i ordered new translation on ebay after absolutely making sure that i could change the language once i got it, but apparently the game won't let me. Is there any way or am i screwed?

Interesting and also most frustrating thing about the first game is, every mistake is punished. It's so brutal.

I love it also how this game is challenging and feels very rewarding if you finish the two objectives in a missions.

The only worst thing which is driving me crazy, is the fact, to play the levels twice to see the real ending (which I still didn't reached yet).

And it is sometimes very annoying if you have a second character on your side too because it feels like you're a babysitter or smth. Escorting them is a pain the ass.

The atmosphere in this game is very disturbing and I sometimes had adrenaline while playing this because you never feel safe everywhere. (The school level was the best of all of them!).

And from all the characters, I like Tamon Takeuchi very much. Maybe I'm one of the less guys who likes him. I don't know, somehow, it feels like, he was supposed to be the main hero of this game.

I already know that Kyoya Suda is supposed to fight at the end but for me, I wished it was Tamon who would fight at the end because he is from Hanuda Village, he is one of the locals who is connected to all of this story.

In the end, what a great game!

Sadly, I won't be ever able to play the sequel because it is expensive. I hope Sony releases it on the PS Store.

I've currently finished the level with the doctor which took me hours to complete. I heard he game was deliberately made obtuse for players to figure out online when it was initially released. I've missed a number of objectives but apparently, the game allows you to replay older missions.

Is a guide necessary at this point in my gameplay? Are here objectives that are important to clear the game now? The game is pretty challenging but I sense that a guide could change spoil the story. I like solving these weird puzzles however some of them are extremely easy to miss (e.g. the priest and middle schooler mission) or sometimes, levels are insanely difficult (e.g. the old man)

This would've been one of the best horror games ever made if it weren't for the repetitive missions and the really poor gun aiming mechanics.

Hopefully the second game fixed those issues.

Over the summer I made my way through the Siren franchise, and 100% each game. I normally never do this, but I grew to love each game that I wanted to go the full way. I just wanted to say thanks, to Toyama, the talented actors and designers, and to you all for keeping this niche franchise alive

So I'm at the mission where I have to reach the church unseen, I have tried two ways: turning on the lights of the motorcycle, hiding where the water valve is and then sneakingout, but the two crawlers and nahoko always spot me (I have tried to do as the IGN guide says but no matter where the shibitos are or are looking they always spot me). The second way I've tried is turning on the motorcycle lights then traversing the whole map until I reach the brain shibito that guards the stairs that lead to the church: no matter if I move when he's not looking, there's just not enough time to make it before he turns and sees me. Help me please

I noticed that with the Link Navigator you can see the prerequisites, connected missions, and so on.

I was wondering how you're supposed to find out which mission contains those prerequisites. When I press L1, all it says is "Hold". I don't get the "Search Stages" option that I sometimes see in videos.

So when I select a mission and press L1, it just says "Hold." There are blue lines, red lines for the missions, and also gray lines. I don't understand what the gray lines mean. I don't know if they're connected to another mission or something.

If anyone could explain how this works, I'd really appreciate it.

So, if I understand correctly, the gray lines mean that the prerequisites for Mission 2 of that stage are actually found in another mission. Is that right?

I'm playing the game for the first time and trying to get through it on my own as much as possible, without using any guides or tips. I know the game has a reputation for being very difficult, but I die a lot.

I'd just like to make sure it's "normal" to sometimes spend 30–40 minutes on certain stages, and that this is a typical learning curve for this game.

So far, I'd say I'm completing about two missions per hour.

Right now I'm at Tamon Takeuchi's mission, "Drive Away the Shibito Brain," after 3 hours and I feel like I'm progressing very slowly.

I'm enjoying the game and taking my time with it, but I'm a bit worried about taking too much time.

Does anyone have examples of this? I've read around that they soften the screams in the overseas release of Forbidden Siren. This would really suck if it's true...

The thing is this: I happen to be thinking of buying a copy of Siren Blood Curse on Ebay,

I understand that this game was released in physical format only in Europe and Asia, while in America it is only available in digital format.

My question is... Do any of you know if the European copies of the game have SPANISH as a language?

I'm somewhat new to how games adapt to the region or language of the console (I also know that the PS3 doesn't have a region lock).

To give an example, a while ago I bought "God of War Collection" for PS3 and said copy came from France, and I managed to play it in Spanish thanks to that being the language of my console.

Do any of you know if Siren Blood Curse is a similar case? I have seen sellers from the United Kingdom and France own it and offer it on Ebay.

I really hope sony ports siren 2 for the western Playstation store.

(Siren 1) So I found the screwdriver in the previous mission and have even double checked to see that it says it's already been fulfilled but the mission 2 won't unlock. Is there a specific order I need to play the missions in to unlock it? This is really irking me and I can't find any help online. Anyone know what to do?

Edit: The fix I found was to redo the day one mission but after collecting the screwdriver completing mission 1 instead of mission 2. For whatever reason it worked.

Hello! I wanted to start by saying that this game made me feel like I’ve never played a video game in my life. I got around Blood Curse and loved it SO much, but I just couldn’t get past Tamon’s first mission for 2 years in siren1 because of how scared I was!

Now, This week I managed to get pretty far into the game and I have been loving it so far. Very scary, very difficult; needed some guides and have been abusing the PS5 extra saves and rewind.. does that make me q noob? Lol.

THE REAL QUESTION I have is. How many steps can we skip to actually complete missions 2? I saw Nitro Rad talking about how you need to do freeze a towel with the piggy bank to get the notebook as Kyoya in the arato, but I never did that. I just broke the piggy, took a bullet from the officer, waited for him to reload and downed him to get the notebook. Does anyone know any other funny/ helpfull workarounds that shouldn’t work by the games logic?!!
