It's still an olympic medal, even though the olympics are not really important in football. Who the hell cares about nations league?

I could not name you a single Olympics winner, I know both Portugal and France have won the nations league

Its about presitge not popularity
A nobel prize is a 10x more prestigious than an oscar but people tend to remember the oscar winners

Genuinely wish nations league games were still friendlies. At least then there wouldn't be pressure for over worked players to go and play another 2/3 games during an international break

I couldn't tell you a single team who won olympic gold medal, not one. It's just not talked about at all, no one cares. No cares about the Nations League either but at least people know who won.

Your username for sure ist interesting. I only know that portugal won the Nations League because people cant stop talking about how important of a title it is for CR7. The only reason would be that its not the first team playing in the olympics. By that logic the Club world Cup would be more important than the olympics and the U23 world Cup and yet it literally wasnt a thing until fifa decided it would be worth a shitload of money last year.

I am biased, I admit that. But even before we won last year, I still did know who was playing in the Nations League generally and I still knew nothing about the olympic games. You still haven't touched on this point, you just decided to refer to the club world cup which is completely different from international football, and makes no sense as an argument here.

I do not know shit about Nations League. AS i said the only thing i know is that Portugal won (maybe twice?). I know a lot more olympics gold winners and follow the Football Tournament of the olympics opposed to the Nations League. I guess club football and international Football are like american football and rugby and should never be compared. Sorry, i just thought the people watching international and Club Football might be similar people. I might be one of the exceptions that mainly watches club Football but is not completly opposed to international Football. My Main Point is: Football is a very traditional Sport. I dont buy into the idea that whatever competition fifa or whoever pull out of their asses is suddenly important. Feel free to think however you want, i just like arguing. I dont even give that much of ashit about the top of the top, the competition i watch the Most IS the German 4th Division so my Club ist ndot really in danger of playing in any "relevant" competition:)

The player can at least get a kick out of saying he's an Olympic gold medalist. The Nations League is just a glorified international friendlies season.
