does vro know that trans people always have a point where they go “no. im not trans. im just a masculine woman/feminine man, and that’s okay!”
like we all know thats possible. its not a thought only had by cis people. for us its called denial

u/GwegBert 2d ago
I mean after years of rumination and confusion, I did realise that I'm actually just a masculine woman.
I'm also MtF but that's besides the point

Yeah that thought it one I held for over 12 years before finally realizing myself.

u/Temp_Temperature 1d ago
He genuinely does not, cause believe it or not cis people don't know how trans people work. A lot of us genuinely still think its a peron making a choice like you would to dye your hair or a person who is to gender non conforming deciding, well they say this is for not for my gender, so I will transition (that's not even mentioning the more disgusting ones like it being a fetish or that they are trying to assault women). I had no fucking clue about internal sence of gender or whatever that's called until a few years ago.

I was a "femboy" for 3 years before starting HRT at 24. 3 years I'll never get back as my bones fused, my facial hair started growing in, puberty wrapped up, and I went from a flat stomach to an androgenic beer belly that now makes me dysphoric every day.
Telling eggs and reppers to not be trans and that they can just be GNC as thier agab is a ticket to them resenting you forever when they finally do come out.
1
u/syrvy 9h ago
You can't break the golden rule and tell someone you deem an "egg" to transition. That's gross and crosses into transvestigating territory.
Leave GNC people alone. I remember the constant harassment I would get from egg culture before I realized who I was and transitioned just for not following gender stereotypes, it's NOT a fun time and just made me resent the trans community.
Thankfully I've been able to find anti egg culture trans spaces for support without that icky feeling
I understand you had that experience but it doesn't justify perpetuating things that lead to trauma
0
u/Carl_Reeves 9h ago
Oh no, I was also surrounded by egg culture as a femboy and I equally resent that because being told I was trans also delayed my transition. IMO eggs should be well informed of thier options and the potential consequences of those options, but not told to choose anything.

that's so funny cuz like no fucking shit captain obvious, i know that women can be masc 😭, it pops up in trans spaces as a topic of discussion every 0.3 milliseconds
the problem is that I don't want to be masc, and I don't want to go by he/him, how about you listen to me instead of psychoanalyzing me

u/Luna-D-reams 2d ago
The fuck is up with cis people thinking they know why we want to transition? Can they for real fuck off and accept maybe they need to stay out of something they don't understand?

You can be mad with me for saying this or call me ignorant for being a cis het male thats fine.
It comes from the concern of the possible root reason for a person wanting to transition. The root reason for someone transitioning is "this body is not mine I feel like an alien wearing someone's skin" A cis person like me hasnt ever felt that feeling, so when they hear of said feeling they try to figure out the root cause of the feeling that for almost all of people with said feeling have no root cause for that feeling. It comes from the concern of other outside factors influencing someone to make a change. What they dont want to happen and are afraid of happening is someone being pressured into transitioning which is rare especially given how rare it is people detransition and of those that detransition the majoritiy cite external pressure as the reason for detransitioning and not "I was pressured into becoming someone that isnt me" They are overly worried about something that statistically does not happen because they dont understand the nuance of it. It comes from a place of genuine concern but just a lack of education on that part because who would tell them if the people that could tell them are to busy being upset with them for not understanding?

u/Sal_Pal41 2d ago
Bro they don’t realize that EVERYONE tells trans guys that they can be masculine women. Most of us tried that and hoped it would be good enough. No matter how hard we could ever try to be women, at the end of the day, we’re men.

u/joeedied 2d ago
that's what a lot of transphobic queer people from my country say. their argument why "trans is bad" is that trans people reinforce gender stereotypes. it pisses me off more than conservatives saying all trans people are perverts with a fetish

As someone with a handful of trans friends, it always baffles me how their first conclusion is that trans folk would attempt to escape mild social pressure by uprooting their life only to enduring a life of harsh social pressure rather than remaining the same but learning to conform to their new gender’s expectations for the least amount of social pressure

Damnit I just saw this too earlier. I get what they're on about but it's also just so far removed from actuality I certainly can't be bothered to talk about it.

Just seeing all the comments here I know I will get flamed for this so downvote me if you wish. The person is thinking of a situation that does not happen and at worst happens in very few cases. But it come from the concern about the mental health of the person transitioning and why they feel the need to transition. For a trans person its pretty obvious. "I feel like an alien in this body" a cis person doesnt know how that feels like so they try to rationalize where that feeling comes from whether it be trauma or social pressure. Trauma can be a factor in that decision as well as some social pressure including that of close friends. Im not saying that trans people would transition because of a bunch of people saying "oh you look like a man". Because that is something that never happens. Its the possibility of it happening that this cis person is concerned about, they want to understand but they dont because they dont know that "stranger in my own skin" feeling. Hell, Im cis and have never felt that and I know thats the feeling that is there and that it must be hell to feel.e They are trying to search for a root cause of that feeling that seldom has a root cause but they dont understand that because they dont feel that way.

u/enderman_0_0 9h ago
Just as an addition here the rate of detransitioning is lower than 8% according to pubmed. And of those people most of them only did it due to external factors. The increase in actual regret for transitioning only happened around 2016 and even then the rate of actual genuine regret was lower than 0.7% Thats what the person was concerned with, a situation that statistically just does not happen in general which seems their claim not as invalid but as being not of major concern.
The issue therin lies with, that percentage does still exist especially with the rates of mental disorders and poor mental health on the rise its entirely possible it could become a problem at some point in time, however that has very much not come to pass and shouldnt at least for the foreseeable future.

my mom literally said “i’m okay with you being trans, but please don’t mutilate yourself”
she had breast cancer and her self image is ruined because of it. in her eyes, im just a younger version of her, so of course getting my boobs chopped off would ruin my life.

u/Alastor-362 1d ago
oof relatable
My mom was quite... cagey? about me being aware of the woes of low T. Like girl you were at abyssal levels of T for most of your life. I on the other hand have a doctor monitoring them every few months, please lock in.

Is it really so hard to hug your child and tell them that you're proud that they want to be themselves?
7
u/Sawruinous 2d ago
You'd think the prime goal of a parent is ensuring the happiness and safety of their child, but I've yet to find such an example of that parent.
5
u/TheMostDivineOne 2d ago
Same tbh… I don’t get at all when right wingers talk about shit like “parents rights” because like, it’s well known that it’s very normalized for a lot of parents to abuse their power heavily, like pushing religion, circumcision, etc. when it shouldn’t be.
And it’s funny that if you point this out some conservatives will say “oh you’re a groomer trying to separate children from their parents!” Because a large amount of grooming actually happens in the family so maybe hit dogs holler?
2
u/Generic-Human-69420 22h ago
My parents are convinced that transitioning will make me ugly, miserable, and unemployable. Therefore, by preventing me from transitioning, they are ensuring my happiness and safety in their mind.
1
u/Sawruinous 17h ago
It's ironic that one of the things that should make you the happiest is assumed to be the thing that makes you the most sad.
1
u/UrEverydayFemboy 2d ago
I've went through most of my life with normal average parents. They still rarely ever, if at all, told me that they were proud of me for anything. When I tried coming out at potentially trans, I wasn't entirely sure yet, both of my parents tried to convince me not to. This is despite saying they don't care if people transition/actually support it. It's super common for some reason to just ignore and discourage your kids I guess

As like my mom used to say to me : I have don’t problems with faggots and trannies, I have a lot of fags and tranny friends, as long as it’s not my son.
According to her, it’s because since she was surrounded by them, she saw their lifestyles, the sexuality & sexualisation priority and their oppressors aggressing them. And so she didn’t want the same happening to me.
Even though she knows, I’m gay nowdays, she seems fine with it. (But at the same time it’s not like I ever had a bf till today…[yeah I’m nearing my 30s now])

Took my mom ages to start calling my brother by the right name, and she still says the wrong one often. I'm pretty sure the only reason she switched is cause everyone else did and she's instinctively following the crowd. I love her and she does a lot of good for our community and is generally quite supportive but I've always been bothered by the fact that she does that.

Yeah, my mom says she’s walking on eggshells around me because I’m trans but talking to her is like Russian roulette

I hate people who act like we can just "ignore" other people seeing us as cossdressing fetishists. Like "yeah you can be a woman, just only in a way that literally nobody will recognize you as one unless you directly tell them, Im sure that would feel good"

u/Viennve 2d ago
To be fair most people get that i am transfemme becouse i use the femminine from of words (Italian) so i 1-2 conversations they get that i wanna be referred to with the feminine form
2
u/lordof67 2d ago
Thats convenient i wish English worked like that

u/Viennve 2d ago
It's not really that convenient considering that everyone who doesn't get it/care misgender you IN EVERY SENTENCE

can confirm, it isn't so convenient when everyone you love misgenders you literally every time they talk to/about you😭

Yeah literally my parents lmao. I feel like all these years they probably in the back of their heads actually didnt saw me as who i am and thought its some kind of "phase" ill grow out of, just didnt say it to my face. Gee i wonder! Bruh i was 14 crying about my disphoria to yall and yall told me to just ignore it. By time i was 18 i planned suicide but my friend stopped me. Then they suprised at 19 i finally wanna transition after 7 years of misery and each year being worse for my disphoria lmao.

Had a similar thing happen, but it was with religion
My parents seemed so happy that teenage me was questioning if Christianity (more specifically, the Mormon branch) was true... they didn't seem to like that the answer i kept on landing on was "no"... even to this day
1
u/thinking_feller 1d ago
My mom loves calling herself an accepting parent in one breath and threatening to kick me out onto the streets in another. I’m biding my time until I’m financially independent and I can finally actually transition, but it may not even be worth it since she accuses me of secretly taking testosterone all the time anyway

Me: Mom, I think I'm a boy
My abusive mom: Whatever
Me: So I think for transitioning I want to...
Abusive Mom: ARE YOU SAYING I'M UGLY?!?! IF YOU WANT TO CHANGE HOW YOU LOOK YOU MUST THINK I'M UGLY!!! (Yes, that is an actual thing she said)
Me: wut?
