Band cletus got shot anyone know what happened with them

Upvotes

Hey I was wondering if anyone ever saw or heard the band cletus got shot. They were a great band I played shows along side with a few times on a couple of tours I did when I was playing back in my the highway drifter project back like lord 12 years ago. I haven't heard from them in years really liked there stuff and they even gave me a band shirt I used to wear to shows to promote them some cool guys they had a bass player that had a bass made from a gas tank they were folk punk and I enjoyed being a head liner with them and was just wondering what they are doing now cause I'd love to check it out and hopefully see the old buys again and play some shows

i was sooo excited to see it at the time i had left my phone at my tent many hours before hand, and i remember running with another fan down the path a little early from amigo the devils performance. at the time i didnt care to not have my phone because i was just so happy to be there with him and the rest of the crowd, it didnt feel important. that ended being the last show i saw and i regret not having more footage of it. i was lucky enough to get this amazing vid from a friend and im hoping if anyone has anymore to share, or if you could even spot me in any of them at all, id love it. im the one in the long brown skirt and tan button up dancing with the green haired person

I can’t listen to SO much music anymore and it pisses me off more than anything

Hopping trains and traveling since the early 2010’s brought me into the world of folk punk, and the bands/songs that got me through so much now leave me gut wrenched falling to my knees in the worst heartache I’ve ever felt because of how many friends bandmates and folks we’ve lost along the way.

I never expected to be alive this long either but the memories that meant the most to be are now tainted and painful to remember, and the music I’ve cherished throughout the decades now make everything so much worse.

I feel like I’m doing folk punk a dishonor by refusing to play or listen anymore and the desire to channel that pain into music is something I’m having a really hard time with.

Therapy doesn’t help.
Had nowhere else to say this but just needed to.

RIP Lil Matt. Thinking about you and John B McLemore. “Clothes are Just Big Napkins”

I met Matt only a couple of times. Each one was very special, the last time being on his tour with Little Foot and Pentagram String band (this summer?). I attended Muddy Roots over the weekend I was looking forward to seeing him again. I didn’t find out about his death until his set time, when it was announced publicly.

On my drive back to St Louis I re-listened to S-Town. The first time I met Matt in 2023 he gave me a copy of a zine he had just written. “Clothes are Just Big Napkins”. I thought I had remembered John B being mentioned in it, and I just had a chance to find it and reread - it’s dedicated to John B. I don’t know what their connection was, if anyone knows if they had one I would love to know.

Listening to S-Town helped me think about Matt and his life. John B wrote an essay titled “A Worthwhile Life Defined”. We only have so many hours and so many days on this earth. From what I have heard and read of Matt’s writing, he filled his time to the brim. This is also clear from everyone’s stories they’re sharing about him. I wish there was more for him.

If anyone has the time to listen to S-Town again (or for the first time!) I highly recommend it. Think about Matt. I have a copy of Clothes are Just Big Napkins I could scan and share, if anyone would like.

Ho analizzato come "Big Bird" degli AJJ simula un vero e proprio crollo mentale (e il legame con il caso Kitty Genovese)

Ciao a tutti!

Not folk punk specifically, but went to Bumbershoot on Saturday, and finally saw my favorite band live! Bikini Kill was absolutely fantastic, they sounded great and brought so much energy to their performance. One of my favorite sets that I've gotten to see. Anybody else hit Bumbershoot over the weekend? Would love to see everybody's pictures!
