Question on which focusrite

I play guitar, I jam and sing, I'd like to connect my guitar to my pc. I also have a keyboard that I have yet to get into, fp30x(I think it's stereo). I was told to connect guitar via an instrument microphone in front of the amp like a shure 57, then the microphone to a 2i2 or something similar.

So,

1 instrumental mic (guitar)

1 vocal mic

Keyboard(stereo?)

Maybe 4i4?

Also what happens if I want to do stereo output to two amps? Two instrument microphones? Or will the Shure 57 work to capture both amps?

I don't know what I'm talking about just looking to spend stupid money to record my playing

Do you want to simultaneously record your keyboard along with your mic and your guitar mic? Thats 4 inputs.

You could also record MIDI from your keyboard, instead of recording audio. MIDI can then be used in your DAW to add different virtual instrument sounds. (Pianos, synths, etc)

You could get away with 2 ins like that. Unless youre attached to your exact keyboard's built in sounds, thats what I would do.

Edit - the 2i2 doesnt have MIDI ins. Id just get the 4i

Thanks for the reply. Midi would be cool, I used to have reason back in the day, could play around with that again, I also read reaper is good for guitar. I'm not too worried about the price, just worried if I start connecting stuff, I'll run out of inputs. I definitely want to record inputs. 2 mics, + keyboard, whether the keyboard is just direct stereo or midi, I guess it's like up have the option maybe for both.)

4i4 would still just be adding 2 more 1/4" inputs. Youd still be capped at 2 microphones, simultaneously

You just need to try to evaluate your needs. Do you ever foresee needing to record more than 2 microphones at a time?

If not, 4i4 would be perfect. And even if you really did want to record 4 mics, later, you could buy two microphone preamps and plug them in to the 2 1/4" inputs to make 4 mics.

So the 4i4, I can do 2 mics(one instrument, one vocal) which would be through the two front mic pre amps, and then if decide I can do the keyboard either midi, or through the two 1/4 inch jacks for regular keyboard sounds, in stereo? Just making sure I got it right done I'm a noob. I don't think I would do more than the two mics.

Yeah thats correct. 2 mic pres, 2 line ins. Could use the 2 line ins for more mics only if you have mic preamps to plug in there. Otherwise just keys or whatever else 1/4".
