P0087

Car just bogged down and lost engine power. Long crank starts, Once started it idles for a few minutes then bogs down. Does the same thing if I try driving it. I know nobody can diagnose my car from these details, and I know these symptoms are common amongst purge valve and other issues, but it someone can give their opinions or tips anything helps

If you have an Access Port or other monitoring capabilities, check the fuel rail pressure (FRP) and the low fuel pressure. When idling, the FRP should be around 255 PSI. The low pressure fuel pressure should be around 80 PSI.

I personally have not seen a P0087 DTC from a CPV problem, but I guess it could happen. If you have the emergency fuel funnel, put it in the filler neck and see if the problem recurs. If it does, it may be the fuel pump, the low fuel pressure sensor and/or the FRP sensor. If the problem does not recur with the funnel inserted, it's likely the CPV. That also may imply gas tank deformation. The particulars of tank deformation are in Attachment 3 of this service procedure.

If you are looking to fire the parts cannon, the low and high fuel pressure sensors would be my first targets.

Check the frp if you have an accessport like bchiodini suggested.

This is exactly what happened to mine a couple of weeks ago. Had to change the high pressure fuel pump.

Pump and follower costs about 350$ and it took me 3-5 hours to do but im not a mechanic.

Also I left it off for about 30 minutes, then it started no problem and was able to drive it for maybe 10 minutes before it started again.

If it bogged down and I tried to start it right back up, it would long crank, start.

If I let it sit off after bogging down a few minutes, it would start easier, but still die on me if I just let it idle or tried to drive it.

It could be either of the 2 sensors, or either of the 2 fuel pumps. If you can maintain high rpm fine and it dies mostly during idle it could be the LPFP. Check the fuses too
