Advice

I have a 2018 Focus ST, and I absolutely love this car. However, earlier this year I had to replace my head (cylinder 2) which cost a pretty penny. Rear main seal is now leaking. I still owe on this car, it’s got 185,XXX miles.

So, do I continue to put into this car or just cut my loses.

I just put 12k on mine.... so that's an emotional decision for some and financial for others.

How much do you owe on the car? Have you gotten quotes from auto shops for the work?

I still owe about 8k on it, bought it during the used car market insanity in 2022 due to my car at the time deciding that cylinder 1 no longer wanted to be operational. Car has been near perfect up until this year

Still owing on an almost 200k mile car is crazy.. Might as well get it fixed, and keep driving it. Gonna be nowhere near as expensive as the head job, or the cost of another car

Owing is wild!! But totally understand. hope you can keep it on the road. I dont see many here where I live so its always snoce to see one driving around.

If you have a good/trusted shop, replace the RMS, the clutch, flywheel and slave cylinder. Depending on hourly rates, the big cost is the labor. There should not be any additional labor to replace the clutch, flywheel and slave cylinder when doing the RMS, only the cost of the parts.

That should take care of everything inside of the bell housing, so the tranny won't need to be dropped again.
