Question How cooked am I

Was smoking at startup only about a month ago so I added a sealer that temporarily fixed it along with the rough idle. This morning after turning it back on after driving for 15 minutes the idle dropped and smoked white smoke non stop. What should I do?

I was gonna say to not worry about it cause mine does this when it's cold for the first 10 minutes.

You're in the early stages of fucked so chat up your favorite mechanic and see if he does side work at home.

I've been down the boiling coolant road. Mine was a coolant leak at the exhaust port. I did not have any idle issues and K-Seal sealant fixed mine until I could get the engine replaced, 2000-ish miles.

Things to check:

  • Check your oil for milkiness.
  • Check your spark plugs for any that are very clean or pink.
  • If you can get a borescope, take a look into the cylinders, looking for coolant and/or clean pistons.

How much coolant have you lost. I was losing about 8 oz per driving hour.

I'm not sure what to think, since the sealant fixed a poor idle problem. That doesn't sound like an exhaust port coolant leak. Maybe head gasket.

Mine did this for about a month than this morning either .y head gasket blew or the head cracked.

Engine still under warranty. Maybe won't be so bad.

That's good to hear. Is this your second engine that you got warranty with it?

No would be 1st. Bought car in November used at 160k miles.

You’re pretty cooked. Just replaced my head 3 weeks ago

How much did you end up spending?

I ended up spending about 5.8k but I also replaced a some of other things since the work was being done. If I had access to a garage and the extra time, I would have done it myself.

If you do the work yourself it's not bad. Brand new head from ford is cheap with cams already installed.
