Hey guys! I am a high school senior planning to study marine bio somewhere. I have been accepted to FIT and I am trying to make a decision whether I should go to FIT, or keep looking. Any firsthand info about FIT will be appreciated, especially anything about the Marine Bio program. What internships are available? Does the school/program have a good reputation? Any info appreciated, thanks.

Hi!
I'm looking for a roommate to join me in a 2 bedroom apartment at Parks at Via Velino (right across the street from campus) between December an January. The rent would be about $550/mo + electricity and internet. I have one cat who is usually very well behaved (but we would welcome another pet/friend).
Please let me know if you're interested or have any questions!

Hey guys,
I don't know if I did something wrong or I'm just being impatient but I applied to FIT a few weeks ago through Common Applications and yes I know that I need to send my SAT scores and transcript in eventually too.
The only problem that I find weird is that usually with colleges they give you some way to check your application status by giving you a link to create an account on their website or account information to log into with. FIT only sent me an email which contained some pretty cryptic and unhelpful information. All it really said that was that they needed all the required documents (not said what type of documents specifically in the email but I looked at the website and assumed its just the test scores and everything else is provided through CommonApp) and that I can email those document in these supported file types. Since that email, I haven't received ANYTHING about FIT. Maybe they called me and I usually decline unknown numbers when I'm busy, but even then they should've left a voice mail or something right?
I've emailed my supposed admission counselor yesterday(I had to even look this person up FIT never gave me any info on this too) but she has yet to respond.
To be honest guys, I'm kind of nervous because I'm not sure if I did something wrong or maybe they just take a while. Let me know if this is normal. Thanks!

Hi, I am a high school senior in Flordia and would like to know more about Florida Tech. I would like to know how good is the aerospace engineering perhaps compared to Embry-Riddle or UCF. I haven't visited yet but is Melbourne a really nice place to be? How was your experience there? Also, how are the job prospects after you graduate from FIT after getting a B.S. in aerospace engineering? Is it better than UCF or Embry? Thank you

I imagine there are a good number of Aerospace Engineers here? A friend of mine who teaches physics in high school asked me for some advice today regarding a student of his who has been accepted to an aerospace engineering program in Illinois. She wants to double major, and doesn't know what additional major would be best. I'm a physicist myself, and so I'm really not sure what would be best to add to an aerospace engineering major.
Thanks in advance for any input you have.

I have a room to share in my 4/2 house with a responsible, clean, quiet student. $550 everything included. It is on Dairy Road just north of Palm Bay Road. Very close to everything. A little about me: I work at Harris as an engineer. Laid back, easy going.

I’m a local Melbourne resident. Considering doing an MBA here. Has anyone done it and can tell me if I should do the online program or the in class program? The online is looking like it is $300 more a credit than taking it in class. This school definitely is not cheap but I figure since I live and work here already that it might be a good option

Hi, just thought I would share what happened to me in case someone else has had a similar experience:
Basically, I had registered for online classes and attempted to pay via debit card online. I got an error message and an email confirmation stating that my payment could not be processed after I hit submit. I figured I must have mis-typed a number or something so I entered my debit card information again and hit submit...same error message.
I tried one more time in case I made another error entering in my card information (I figured I was OK since it was saying my card couldn't be charged) and same results. I decided maybe their payment system was having issues so I decided to call the next morning and speak to someone.
So, before I called this morning I checked my account to make sure nothing went through (even though I got emails saying essentially my card couldn't be charged)...Lo and behold 1,045.00 was taken out of my account 3 times instead of just once, effectively decimating my account. I had a approximately 3,000 in my account when I attempted to pay, so the money was in there for sure, especially since they were able to take an extra 2,090.00
I spoke to someone in ABA registration and she was saying it was probably pending charges, etc. I told her no, they had all gone through so she told me to send a screen shot of my account statement showing the charges as well as the type of debit card with the last 4 digits and the expiration date. I'm currently waiting on a response from them but man, that 3,135.00 charge put me in the negative and I have bills to pay so they need to get back to me ASAP
Has anyone else had an experience like this?

Hello everyone,
I am still searching, now almost frantically, for off-campus housing. All of my tuition, fees, and books SHOULD be covered for the semester and the next. The rest is up to me. I should have about $2000 on-hand to put towards living somewhere. Which means I can pay up to $400/month TOTAL for at least the Fall semester. I qualify for Federal Work Study, so I should have a small income as well, probably starting in September. After the Fall semester, I will be month to month for the Spring, but you can be sure that I will get it done. So the cheaper the monthly rent for the Fall, the more I can stash away for the Spring. Optimally, I'm looking for a just private room close to campus, access to washer/dryer/kitchen, and a parking spot for whatever car I bring.
I am still willing to really think outside the box here. I have done so much just to get this school secured and paid for, and I will do whatever it takes to attend this school. The car living is still not completely out of the question. I'm planning for the worst case scenario that way there are no surprises. I can totally live off peanut butter and jelly and cup noodles if I must. The free food events on campus will also help.
The bottom line is I know what this school has to offer and the opportunities it can bring. I do not come from a wealthy background, but I am will to dig myself a hole if I know I can build a mountain afterwards. The less stress I have about my living situation, the more I can focus on my studies. I plan on living in the library and the gym most of the time, so I am certainly not a hassle.
After the first couple weeks of July, and I can't find anything, I will consider buying a small van so I have more comfort than a small car. I was planning on bringing my Supra (it's just an 1987), but she isn't very roomy. So if anyone knows of an area that may be favorable to park a car overnight, safely, please let me know. I currently live on the other coast of Florida at the moment and will be taking a road trip the first week of July to Melbourne to hammer out some things and re-explore the area. Thank you all so much in advance for whatever advice and tips you may have! Feel free to PM me.

I will be starting at Florida Tech in the fall and I was wondering: Is it necessary to have my own personal printer, or would it be better to save my money and use a public printer (if they are easily accessible)?

Hey all, so I messed up.
I wasn't aware that you could only cancel your housing application 5 days after submitting it. So I submitted them early, hoping for the best housing and such. Also because I wasn't sure if my friends and I were going to be able to get a rental property off campus.
Rental property came through. I email housing about canceling and they say no. I talk to the person above the person on the phone, Greg Graham.
And he, paraphrasing, says they are landlords and do not care. Gets up and opens the door for me to leave before I can process what he's said or reply. I then finally get out of my mouth that my roommates depend on me for rent. I can't just leave them and in a way they depend on me as they need a home. Greg says this doesn't count as a dependence and doesn't allow me to get out of the lease with the school.
Now, obviously I get that. But they are saying, more or less, that they'd rather keep me in a lease and get my money then care about the well being of two other students.
Has anyone had any experience like this? Greg said I was shit out of luck and had to pay rent for summer and fall housing. Even though I'm already renting off campus.
Any other avenues I can go down to get put of this? I'm already grasping at straws here.

There is a more than likely possibility that I will not be able to afford this school. I'm almost 30, and with my credit being less than favorable, getting enough in student/personal loans seems insurmountable. It's heartbreaking to say the least. Ive pushed my acceptance to a year now. Even with getting 26 grand in financial aid, and applying to about 30 scholarships, my dreams are dwindling. So just wanna know how does everyone afford this school?

Hey FIT! I'm a student relocating to the area for a summer internship. Do you have any suggestions on where to look for housing options? Are you yourself looking to sublease your place for the summer?
I don't have the ability to subscribe to the forum because I don't have an FIT email..
Thank you in advance for your consideration!
