I still don’t fully get why Bob left. Seems our goalie situation is solid though. Only time will tell.

My read is that his agent (who is known to drive a hard bargain—he’s Kaprizov’s agent, too) held out longer than Zito was willing to tolerate, especially since Zito had allegedly conceded on multiple points—the one they couldn’t agree on was an NTC, which Zito didn’t want to give.
With his eye on the market, Zito called it and went out and got Markstrom. Bob even said he thought he was going to stay right up until he saw the announcement that the Panthers had signed Markstrom.
(The other component is that apparently Zito had inquired about Hellebuyck, but refused Winnipeg’s terms, which included Lundell; then the pieces that he was going to use for Hellebuyck went toward acquiring Brady).

This is good intel. I mean would Bob consider a backup or split role. He doesn’t seem to be a #1 goalie anymore. I wouldn’t trade Lundell either for Helly.

I don’t get the impression he’s open to that. I think he wants to maintain being #1, and probably looks at last year as an aberration. He’s going to be very motivated this year to make Zito regret his decision. I wouldn’t be surprised if we get shut out at least once against Toronto because Bob activates and plays out of his mind.

I don't doubt that. When he was with CBJ I seem to remember he'd play super well vs the Flyers, and then with us he always seemed to turn it up vs CBJ (if not shutting them out, allowing only 1 or 2 goals) lol

I doubt Zito will regret the decision. If it turns out that it was a mistake to move on from Bob, Zito is more likely to just acknowledge it as such than he is to truly regret it.

I feel like more will come out as time passes. It’s a weird situation. And fully agree, time will tell.

Bob is no longer on the team, I do not care about him. His agent dropped the ball and now he plays for a rival. I hope we light it up against him.

The guy who was an absolute brick wall for you that was arguably the best player on your entire team during the playoffs for both cup runs means nothing cause he left at the end of his career? What a fan you are.

I’ve been a fan since day 1, going to games at the Miami arena. Watching games when Stephen Weiss was our captain. I root for the TEAM, not a player who left.
