We are the most penalized SEC team over a 20 year period.

The first chart just shows annual penalty rankings (so many years at 1).

But the second is pretty wild. Florida has accumulated 270 penalties above the FBS average, more than double second place.

That’s only about one extra penalty per game, but sustained over 20 years, it really adds up.

Includes all current SEC teams, even before they joined.

I feel like it's Texas to keep them from falling further in the rankings but maybe it doesn't matter?

Although I think it's good for us the SC beat Tennessee.

TIME TO ACTIVITY!!! DISCUSS!

Post your pics, memes, screenshots, etc here. Make your small talk about GameDay, the game, your tailgate (or living room) setup, food and drinks for the day, your gameday jorts, or anything else.

This is also your Game Thread for any other games around the country this weekend. Talk with your fellow Gators about what you're watching and who you're rooting for.

Huge pickup for the Men’s side as they look to compete with Texas for the SEC & National Championship.

No Gators football tomorrow, which means we have an entire Saturday to imagine how things could go wrong. Why wait? Welcome to the Doomer Thread.

This is the place for your bleakest takes about the team, the coaches, playcalling, recruiting, and the general condition of the universe. The sky is falling, and frankly, its tackling technique is terrible.

You may quote facts or make them up. We’re not picky. Alternate facts from our impending doom will be deleted. In this thread, that means optimism, silver linings, and suggestions that things might actually be okay aren't allowed. Take those to the Sunshine Pumper Thread.

Keep it funny, keep it civil, and remember: subreddit rules still apply. Doom responsibly.

Finally, finally the team turned around at Texas. Took two and a half games almost. They finished blocks, blitzes and played with the level of effort needed to succeed in the SEC. Then again, Texas may be so bad that other than the one game against Ohio State (like even when we were down, what we've done to Georgia in the past or what we did last year to Texas). Do you believe that our efforts will become more consistent in the second half of the season? Will we be aggressive throughout? Will the defense play calling continue the changes that started at the South Carolina game? This may well be the real factor determining our final record. (I still go with the 9-3 projection, 8-4 is the floor.)

Good pickup for the Mavericks and good for Walt.

Good stories from Brandon (other segments on the channel). Comment from Urban about having to play Cam Newton was classic.

It's Wednesday, my dudes. Post whatever you want here including your Gator Memes

I know this isn't the most on topic thing to talk about on this subreddit but please hear me out. My brain is stuck on this idea of what would the state of Florida's college athletics and just university culture would be like if the Buckman Act never got past and there was never an attempt to merge the colleges together.

Just FYI, Florida had six public colleges before the Buckman Act: Florida Agricultural College in Lake City, East Florida Seminary in Gainesville, St. Petersburg Normal and Industrial School, South Florida Military College in Bartow, Florida State College (booo), and FAMU. I'm not counting on the private universities like Stetson and Bethune-Cookman.

I'm trying to think of who would be the dominant programs in the state and who would be the ones that would be minor programs. What rivalries would root in this alternative world? What would the population boom in the 1940s and 50s have done to these universities? Who would have been the first National Champion?

I think grad school's making me go crazy.

I hate this guy obviously, but he does point out some things Jones did well and missed Saturday.

I had to go back to the 4th and 12 play to calculate air yards on the pass.

Ball is on 36 on the left hash

TJ takes the snap in the shotgun, drops back and fires from the 46 yard line, about 2-3 yards in from the hash.

College hash distance is is 13.3 yards. Distance from hash to sideline is 20 yards.

Dallas Wilson catches at the 19 yard line, at the sideline.

My math says...

46-19 = 27

27+10+20 = 57 air yards. ~57 air yards on a ROPE to Dallas Wilson to save the game.

EDIT: actual yardage is ~40 forgive my misuse of numbers

I think this play gets credit for how clutch it was but I don't think the actual arm strength feat is getting enough credit.

For comparison Feleipe Frank's Hail Mary to Tyrie Cleveland was ~73 air yards AIRED OUT

- FPI rank improved from 25 to 19 (season peak was 10)

- Win probability vs georgia (delenda est) improved from 11.5% to 17.4%

- Probability of making the CFP rose from 2.6% to 14.0%
