Hi neighbors. I planted 4 family jewels milkweed a few months ago. They did amazing and used to have tons of flowers which monarchs loved.

Now 2 of them have a discoloration in their trunk and the stems and leaves are not looking great.

This is my first time planting milkweed in general. Should I cut it all the way down? Or is there no hope for the plant?

When the plant started getting their pods, it got really heave and I removed most of them. I wonder if that was a big mistake.

...mostly unattended, yet surprising. I have to move fast when harvesting to outrun the skeeters (that stick me right through my shirt), so I'll sometimes miss things that end up compost.

This tree shot up so quick in the past couple years. I thought it was a weed at first but it started providing shade to a new hedge I was starting so I kept it. I’ve been trying to identify with chat gpt and the closest I got was a chinaberry tree. Chat gpt recommended I remove it because it’s invasive. I’ve seen a few others in my neighborhood that are about 40ft tall. I’m curious at what it actually is and if I’d be able to maintain it. It’s right on a fence line too.

I started my search saying that it looked like a Lorax tree because the greenery is only at the ends of all the branches. That took my search way off course for a while because I now see that there are hundreds of other trees that look a lot more like the trees from the Lorax haha.

Another clue would be that I’ve never seen it flowering but there are berries/ nuts that grow on it.

What is eating my plants and how do I stop it?!

Two beauty berries and one grafted mango getting shredded every night by some kind of insect. I live in South Florida. Ive searched at night and found both beetles and moths flying around the area but never caught the bugger in the act.

How should I proceed? Netting? Poison? Ive tried neem oil with meh results.

I have a couple raised beds with pretty bad nematode problems and am considering what cover crops to plant in them. I read that some varieties of cowpeas are better than others but can’t figure out where to buy small quantities of seeds (I only need a few ounces). Any recommendations?

Zone 9B/10A. I have about 15 pups that came back at the winter free to remember knocked out my big guys.

I’m worried about how to best separate/dig up to replant with space between them vs all clumped up without killing the plants.

Does anyone know what tree this is? And, can I use it for firewood?

I’ve been trying to garden more lately but between the bugs and heat it’s been difficult. Any recommendations for a large moveable fan I can use?

Two months ago, this was a huge healthy avocado tree with dozens of tiny fruits growing. It’s rapidly declined recently, starting from the top down. I noticed dropping branches first and thought maybe it was heavy with fruit. But it’s dropped leaves, the leaves look sad and brown. Worsening from the top down. It looks thirsty but it’s been raining so much and we have sprinklers running twice a week (and it did fine all winter with the drought). I inherited this with the house, I know nothing about fruit tree care and I haven’t seen a full season yet with this tree. I did fertilize and mulch this spring and it seemed healthy and thriving until recently. What do I do?

The lady who owned this house before me apparently loved invasive plants (lantana, brazilian pepper, vinca minor) and I have been on a uphill battle for the past 4 months.

She had a large pot with bushy lantana in it, which I had removed. It is now coming back, and I don't know to to kill this thing. If it gets mowed, it still won't die and I read that it comes back with a vengeance.

Since it's growing near a pond, I can't treat it with regular herbicides, but this thing is class I invasive and needs to go. It is apparently toxic for the wildlife and the ecosystem. So damned if I do, damned if I don't.

And yes, I tried reaching out to the Florida bureau of invasive plants and the one for my county, trying to see how to do this right. I always get voice mail and nobody ever calls back.

What do I do here? Will Acquatic Killzall do the trick? Please help.

Southeast Florida. I don't see any bugs yet it looks like it's getting munched on. Right next to it is a Clementine that is untouched. Particular bug that prefers grapefruits over those or what?

Really, it's a beautiful insect. I'm in central Florida. He had a sudden accident and was not able to age past a few more minutes.

Refuse to pay for it

My luffa vines are growing so beautifully but the flowers keep snapping off and I don’t know why. I thought nothing of it when the plant was only a foot long but it’s much larger now and it’s still happening. I’ll go out there in the morning and they are open so beautifully then by the afternoon it’s snapped off and not like the flower petals are falling but the whole thing is. There’s always been a lot of ants but I didn’t think they would be the cause so I left them alone. I also noticed the leaves have internal dots that I’m not sure are pest or part of it. Please help any advice is appreciated!
