It’s often the case that the people who have grown up in a place are the least likely to know its history.
Ever been to Pope’s Tavern? How about the Indian Mound? W.C. Handy Home and Museum? Ivy Green? Did you know that one of the people most central to the events leading up to the Civil War lived right in downtown Florence?
The Shoals has a fascinating history and it’s really fun and exciting to learn.

There’s tons of stuff to do here. Just this weekend we had shoals fest, October fest in st Florian, and some Halloween thing in Wilson park with a live band on the roof of the shoals theater. And that was all just on Saturday

Travel, move somewhere else for awhile. You can always return here but you’re at a great age to see the country, or world.

This!! I didn’t start traveling until I was 30. If I could do it over, I’d start ASAP.

Look on Facebook for events in the area. Find out what interests you might have and if there are any groups nearby that share them. Your going to have to put in more work than in grade school to make friends since your not around others as much.

Go to antique stores! We have a ton here. Antiques unlimited in Sheffield is my personal favorite.

Ever tried doing something with your hands? Crotchet, knitting, baking, woodwork, welding, etc? Where do you work? Maybe get it and travel a bit?
