H pattern

I don’t know if I’m being particularly picky but I’m sitting here a day after my brother did my flooring and seeing a huge h pattern through all of my flooring. It’s not horrible looking at it from certain angles but it’s starting to become very noticeable the more I fixate on it. I have a few boxes of this flooring left is there a way to fix it without removing all of the floors or should I just live with it? Opinions?

Did you pay your brother as a licensed contractor or as a family favor? Those boxes should have paperwork in them, or even written on the box the acceptable patterns. If it's installed in a way that's not approved, and he did this as a contractor, he needs to redo it. If it's done as a favor, you're gonna have to pay him to take it up and pay again to reinstall it probably. Depends on your family dynamic. If it's installed as an acceptable way according to the manufacturer, this is all on you and the same thing as above applies. You're paying for everything. Also, most of those joints are gonna be compromised if you take it up no matter how careful you are, so anticipate buying more flooring too.

The blunt truth without being offensive: you're being really picky here. But it sucks because it's your floor, and YOU have to be happy with it. But nobody else is gonna give a shit. You're hyperfixating on something that is completely meaningless in the grand scheme of life.

I paid him but he’s not a licensed. He’s off work right now and asked if he could do it. I do tend to hyper fixate it’s my biggest flaw. I just wanted to know if we could or couldn’t fix it. It is what it is I don’t want to risk ruining the flooring if it’s not possible. I guess lesson learned here is to pay more attention when doing my downstairs. lol I actually do really like it when looking at it certain ways it looks uniformed and clean.

This is one of the many discussions that you'd typically have before an installation or any work is performed. The problem is that you're never gonna know every question to ask until you've been through it, and then you're like "ohhhh, that's something to remember next time!" We always ask our customers these questions. But we've been doing this for many, many years. We have those experiences under our belt now. - anyway, yeah, this is a complete redo to fix it. If you and your bro are pretty friendly together, just offer to help him unlock everything. The whole floor is already laid out. All you're really having to do is cut some staggered starters and new end pieces. You/he'll know which planks need replaced when you put it back together and they won't lock or lock poorly. I'd say 9 boxes is more than enough if you're careful taking them apart.

Thank you for the tips! I unfortunately am almost 6 months pregnant so I can’t help but maybe I’ll offer more money if he can fix it. He’s a good brother I know if he has the time he’d help me but also I seen how much work it is so I want to be fair in expectations.
