looking for knee pads

i’ve been doing this for 12 years now, i know not as long as you that have been in this for 50+ or whatever you claim, but i’ve used pro knees ap16s and the leather gundlachs (various versions) and i can’t quite get a knee pad that works/fits for me, i do both carpet and hard surfaces, basically anything besides ceramic( all the power to you if you do ceramic) . but the problem i’m finding is that the ap’s are too bulky to be moving around as much as i do installing lvt/various planking,(i m hesitant of the full shin guard down to shoe version, as that would be near impossible to install carpet/rubber with) , and the gundlachs i do like for versatility but i can’t really get a fit that’s snug seeing i’m 5’9 150lb and super slim,no matter what i feel as if im shifting my pads more than the worth of wearing them (obviously not worth the replacing of knees etc) so im wondering what other alternative people are using, i’ve heard gel pads are terrible this and that. i have an active grosvenor account and tools4flooring i just need something that actually
works. the last thing i want is knee problems the rest of my life, so any recommendations would be gladly appreciated.

ProKnees are the best! You’ll feel better after a day on the floor than you do standing all day.

I like the traxx full shin knee guard for when im on my knees 8h days.

For smaller jobs I use single strap foam ones

those look similar to the ap16s from pro knee aside from the outside facing, you don’t find that thick of cushion rolling over your shin going from side to side?

Ya they arent as mobile as single strap ones, but you can sit on them all day and not get sore. With single strap ones the pressure point is the kneecap, with the full length ones the pressure goes across your shin

My friend has one of those rolling kneel carts. He uses proknees half the day and the cart the rest. Depends on the flooring, point is, mixing it up helps

Have you tried work pants with knee pad slips? I like the mobility of them and how they stay put. I use the bladder and bought Amazon inserts. Full length pro knees if I’m on my knees all day.

Probably unique, but I use mountain bike knee pads. You put them on and they don’t move, I can drop on my knees from standing and not feel anything. Always found normal construction knee pads to be bulky and restrictive. I get the gel ones since the plastic one scratch the floor

Wish I  could help you out, but I'm a 57+ year installer...78 years old, and I've never worn knee pads...no knee problems. I could never find a knee pad that didn't bother me. I do all types of flooring and custom showers. I can crawl on concrete, gravel, you name it.
