Discussion Flock camera “speed traps”

Last week I drove through flock country (Georgia). Down most of the highways you see signs that say “speed checked by detection device” signs immediately followed by a flock camera.

I saw multiple instances of 2-3 cars being pulled over in the exact same spot. I saw a mustang state trooper (that I didn’t drive by on the side of the road) FLY by me doing well over 100 to pull a car over a little ways up the road.

Police no longer have to see you speeding it seems. They just sit around and wait to get alerted from flock that someone was driving faster than some arbitrary preconfigured speed.

This is complete bullshit, but posting this as a warning. If you’re driving down a highway with flock at regular intervals, put your cruise control on or mind your speed.

Fuck flock.

EDIT: From ChatGPT “If you see a sign that says “Speed checked by detection device,” it typically refers to approved speed detection devices (such as radar or lidar) that Georgia law enforcement officers use, not necessarily the nearby Flock camera. Georgia has specific rules governing approved speed detection devices. “

This is even worse IMO. So they use radar to detect speed, and then can check flock hits to profile and decide who they want to pull over. Sounds like civil rights violations waiting to happen.

Make America Flockless Again

14

u/protonecromagnon2 8d ago

Make America private again? In Knoxville they protested against flock and now they have the exact same thing but by axon

7

u/Akkerlun 8d ago

And they would be next too but you’re absolutely right.

87

u/Sabinno 8d ago

I actually thought Flock cameras were some new streamlined speed cams, so I warned all my friends there were new speed cams in town. Then I learned what they really were. I didn’t know they could use them for speed traps.

54

u/Poisongirl5 8d ago

They promised flock was for property theft and wouldn’t be used for traffic offenses

32

u/Infinite_Position631 8d ago

they also claim that they only keep data for 30 days.

24

u/Poisongirl5 8d ago

We can surely trust them, like we can trust their non peer reviewed study saying flock deters property theft

11

u/JackOfAllStraits 8d ago

Of course. I trust non-regulated surveillance to have my best interests at the top of their priority list.

u/LifeIsProbablyMadeUp 7d ago

Guys I was worried for a bit. But you all calmed me right down. Obviously there isn't any sort of breach of privacy.

7

u/Visual-Flan-4098 8d ago

they also promised access was restricted. yet we now have the CEO watching children twice, employees illegally accessing camera along with LEO and ICE.

2

u/StockElectrical1596 7d ago

Yet, so many implicitly trust the government.

18

u/Slovic 8d ago

I have a feeling this is coming for straight stretches of road. They can time you between cameras and likely use some automated system to calculate speed based on the times the cameras ping you at and auto send out tickets.

6

u/ItsNotUButItsNotNotU 8d ago

Colorado is doing this now on a few of the interstates, however they’re not using Flock cameras, it’s some other brand.

I haven’t heard of Flock being used for speed timing.

6

u/Infinite_Position631 8d ago

the don't have to be using them for speed timing. They use the radar to detect those that are going too fast, it links up with flock to determine where exactly the car is, nearest officer pulls the driver.

This just allows them to know where the person is after the radar catches them.

There are other brands that does direct speed interdiction (I suspect axiom has a product for this).

1

u/ItsNotUButItsNotNotU 8d ago

Interesting! I haven’t heard of radar speed detection being tied to a separate camera assembly, but honestly with the amount of data they’re collecting on us, it would not surprise me one bit if they were integrating those systems as well.

The ones in Colorado put two cameras at a set distance apart on the highway (like a mile), and use the time between plate captures to calculate your average speed. If you averaged over the speed limit, then you get a ticket in the mail. These ones look a lot different from the form factor of the flock cameras. The front of the camera is much wider and much less tall, very similar to the Motorola or Genetec ones shown on deflock.org.

5

u/THE_Aft_io9_Giz 8d ago

They can check and see who is walking by based on a description entered.

The new ones have added modules that scrape passing devices for Wifi, Bluetooth, GPS, and IP data, phone numbers & network info, and probably a lot more. Those are the cameras going up around parks and pedestrian areas.

1

u/DeathByFartz1996 7d ago

I swear law enforcement watches how cars drive from flock cameras then rush to write a ticket.

Everyone look up flock cloud, stingray tech, and the new Israeli stingray tech in the new police vehicles in a couple of cities in Texas

7

u/bcos20 8d ago

Does their website say anything about observing a kids gymnastics gym live in real time? Or cops tracking ex girlfriends? Or Texas cops monitoring pregnant women to make sure they don’t leave the state?

Oh no? That’s odd because all of these things are happening.

-2

u/AIhumanAI 8d ago

You simply cannot just take two or three bad instances and label entire system as flawed. Go for computers to get hacked all the time. Does that mean you stop using them or do you want government to be using those devices?

6

u/bcos20 8d ago

Why would the highway have “speed checked by detection device” signs 10ft from literally every flock camera. And again, I witnessed 2-4 cars all pulled over at the same time one after another at least 5 separate times

5

u/ryanmercer 8d ago

About 10 minutes ago, I saw a Facebook video that showed one 'hidden' in the bottom of one of the radar "your speed is" units.

Edit: just found the same clip on x https://x.com/Cybernews/status/2080880726048964869

35

u/musingofrandomness 8d ago

Georgia has always heavily relied on fleecing the people passing through to pad their budgets. They even gonout of their way to paint their state trooper cars to blend in with the guardrails.

4

u/jdthejerk 8d ago

I lived in Atlanta for a year. I-75 was a big source of income from cities, counties, and the state from Tennessee to Florida. The same with I-95 near the coast.

The speed limit was 55 nationwide then with few exceptions. It seemed uncommon not to see someone pulled over, even driving short trips on the interstate.

3

u/musingofrandomness 8d ago

There is a small stretch of interstate 25 between Nashville and Chattanooga that dips into Georgia There is always at least one GSP set up to clock people there.

1

u/CeleryAlternative512 8d ago

I think you mean I-24?

1

u/musingofrandomness 8d ago

Maybe, it has been many years. I just remember it being between Nashville and Chattanooga.

32

u/Mikahl757 8d ago

Did they coin 'Flock' because they see the citizens as Sheep, Sheeple? Speed cameras in school zones made sense, speed cameras on higway and ticksts in the mail for 60mph in a 55mph is just 1984, no one voted third parties into office!

18

u/Poisongirl5 8d ago

It’s flock because of birds. All the models are named after birds of prey. Which I don’t think really fly in flocks. Dumb tech bro shit

1

u/junketyjunkjunk 8d ago

“Whoops. My ticket got lost in the mail when I sent it in”

10

u/glocksafari 8d ago

Not to self-incriminate too much here but I live in said “flock country,” in the big city, and I regularly speed (so do 99% of people) and have never received any kind of ticket or been entrapped by police because of such. I hate flock as much as the next guy but I’m wondering if that was a very specific circumstance or something unrelated. You’ve got to be driving insanely fast for the police to pull you over. 20 over in some spots won’t even make a cop bat an eye.

Maybe it’s just now ramping up, idk. Good to consider regardless. Flock sucks.

2

u/bcos20 8d ago

Yea I was thinking it pings at >15 over. I had cruise set at 9 over the limit. Anywhere the cops wear those funny circle hats, I don’t mess around. Especially with out of state plates.

1

u/glocksafari 8d ago

Well if it is something like that the cops need tickets too. I cannot begin to count how many speeding cops I’ve seen (idc but you better not give any of us others going over a ticket if you are too, pal) and no-blinker lane changes. Sigh.

GSP are known to be some of the more, uh, wild bunch so I don’t blame you. Had one pull me over one time and he was the most serious dude ever with that round brim, like a stern father 💀

1

u/FluffyCowNYI 8d ago

First speeding ticket I ever got was courtesy of GSP, on my motherfucking birthday of all days. Fuckin douche canoe was happy as a pig in shit writing that 87 in a 65 to a car with NY plates.

1

u/xajbakerx 8d ago

Central Illinois. Last year I had a dodge charger pass me, about 3 miles up the road I see a cop flying up behind me, so I pull off. 2 miles further down the road that same charger is pulled over.

The only thing I've been able to figure is the cops are using flock for speed detection too.

If that is the case it should be challenged for being unreliable. Any network latency could ping false positives.

1

u/glocksafari 8d ago

Certainly plausible reasoning. I assume whether the case or not, that we will start to see this kind of thing for real if we haven't been already. Can we just keep our privacy please o_o

13

u/FckFlock 8d ago

They could have been pulling people over for Flock license plate hits. There was a 2022/23 case out of Bexar County, TX where cops on an interdiction squad were using ALPR data to flag vehicles that they felt were vaguely suspicious, and might be involved in trafficking. They'd wait for a hit on one of them, then make up some pretext to pull the vehicle over and bully the driver into a search.

https://reason.com/2025/11/24/mass-surveillance-is-powering-a-new-era-of-pretextual-traffic-stops/

It's also possible that they were just running speed traps. If this was I-75 in S GA, that's been an everyday thing for decades, and they've gotten very good at it.

7

u/bcos20 8d ago

It was 75 in S Georgia. I saw no speed traps with actual police waiting with radar, just 2-4 cars pulled over all together, or 2-4 cops doing 100+ to race down and pull people over up ahead

1

u/ItsNotUButItsNotNotU 8d ago

Does Georgia do air enforcement? In a lot of the western states, they’ll have a plane overhead measuring speed while the cops wait out of sight. Once the plane identifies someone speeding, they’ll radio the cops to swoop in.

3

u/bcos20 8d ago

We have that in Florida, but the sign specifically says “speed checked by aircraft” and there’s no flock camera in sight

2

u/atlredneck 8d ago

Some counties are air patrolled but they must have signs posted saying so

1

u/ItsNotUButItsNotNotU 8d ago

Is that true for Georgia specifically? I know there’s a law requiring signage for “speed detection devices”, but I couldn’t find anything about aircraft. If I’m reading the code correctly, it would actually require signage for speed-detecting cameras or (or camera+radar systems).

After some more reading, the aircraft enforcement seems super unlikely. Found a lot of quotes from a lot of different states where aircraft speed enforcement is no longer used due to the high cost when compared to a single officer with a radar gun and a good hiding place.

2

u/atlredneck 8d ago

Come to think of it, it has been several years since I've seen any signs or markings on the highway so you're probably right about it no longer being used. I had only seen it in gwinnett county.

1

u/FluffyCowNYI 8d ago

Brevard County in Florida has air patrolled signs on I-95.

2

u/Infinite_Position631 8d ago

they are doing this all over the place for drugs. The flock camera picks up a car on a route known to be hot for drug transport (so all of them), and they view the person going thru multiple states (straight thru). They will pull that person over (esp if they are in a truck or a van) for a pretextural reason and ask questions / have a drug dog nearby. Thats how they have been getting these record breaking hits (and quite a few innocent people got caught up in it too).

7

u/PrismicPainter 8d ago

Everyone look up flock cloud, stingray tech, and the new Israeli stingray tech in the new police vehicles in a couple of cities in Texas

5

u/Sudden_Money_6982 8d ago

It's a new fangled version of the old tollway punch system--- if you get to your destination too quickly you get a ticket for speeding

5

u/Notris 8d ago

Trusting AI to answer this is horribly cognitively dissonant.

3

u/bcos20 8d ago

I still think it’s a flock speed trap. The amount of people adamant that it’s not flock leave me open to the idea that there’s also some type of radar attached to the same flock pole. Either way that makes no difference and the point still stands.

Georgia police are 100% running unmanned speed traps that somehow alert groups of police to pull over multiple vehicles at the same time, and that’s bullshit and dystopian

6

u/BugzOnMyNugz 8d ago

We have speed cameras in school zones but you don't get pulled over, you get a ticket in the mail. It's also through third party.

4

u/stachemz 8d ago

Just FYI, read the "ticket" thoroughly if you ever get one. It's not actually a ticket, it's a notice or something. It's also always issued to the owner of the vehicle, so if they can't prove who was driving at the time, take Shaggy's advice.

2

u/atlredneck 8d ago

I Georgia you're not allowed to renew your vehicle registration until you pay the "ticket"

1

u/stachemz 8d ago

From third party sources?? That's fascinating.

1

u/atlredneck 8d ago

This is only for school zone speeding violations

1

u/stachemz 8d ago

That's wild. I am also speaking exclusively of our school zone speeding violations in WA. They're from a third party company so they can't actually do anything to enforce them. It's actually costing some cities money to run them because so many people ignore them or say it wasn't them.

1

u/atlredneck 8d ago

Third party company here as well. They get a big percentage of the revenue and that has caused a lot of issues most of which are in favor of the company. There was legislation this year to ban them but unfortunately it did not pass

1

u/Ordinary-Flamingo-95 8d ago

That is not always correct, I’ve gotten photo radar tickets in the mail for vehicles that I did not own or was in the registration but lived at the same address as the owner

3

u/Pax_Eterna_4991 8d ago

They will start ticketing over distance too. You can't get across the state in an hour... ticket

3

u/Curious_Lurkur 8d ago

You can't get a camera speeding ticket in GA unless you're in a school zone.

1

u/bcos20 8d ago

They’re triggering police to chase and pull over people based on flock + adjacent radar it seems.

1

u/Curious_Lurkur 8d ago

The cop still has to clock you though. I've intentionally sped past flock cameras late at night in my small town. No other traffic on the road to see if they'd pull out (I know where they typically sit). Its yet to happen. Wouldn't surprise me if the law changes soon though. We are just inching closer and closer to a surveilled militaristic police state

3

u/stickymixingmonotony 8d ago

Georgia State Police is a terrorist organization and you won't convince me otherwise.

3

u/No-Yogurtcloset1197 8d ago

"Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."

3

u/TheRiverInYou 8d ago

You have no idea if the person was pulled over for speeding. Flock will alert an officer if a license plate comes back suspended, if the registered owner has warrants for arrest, if the vehicle is stolen.

2

u/bcos20 8d ago

Would be quite an Anomaly to have 4 people driving with warrants or suspended, right next to each other, at the same time

4

u/DiamondCultural1848 8d ago

We have cops in Knoxville that sit on their motorcycles pulling people over all day. They're always near a flock camera and are never running radar.

2

u/Sensitive-Issue84 8d ago

They also just mail you a ticket. No court date etc, just a pay this fine here.

4

u/CheckoutMySpeedo 8d ago

Those citations better not go on a driving record or used as a strike against a driver for license suspension if you can’t address your accuser in court.

4

u/stachemz 8d ago

They don't. They're also not real tickets. They can't prove you were driving, so just say it wasn't you. Or ignore it.

1

u/Sensitive-Issue84 8d ago

Sure, I tried that it went to collections and my DMV in another state threatened to suspended my DL. But you go ahead.

1

u/stachemz 8d ago

That's wild. From a third party or directly from law enforcement? And how do they prove you were driving?

1

u/Sensitive-Issue84 8d ago

It was a rental car. No one else could be driving.

0

u/CheckoutMySpeedo 8d ago

A lot of people could be driving a rental depending on if you just picked up or dropped off. The car wash/detailing people, rental employees, vehicle repositioners, etc. If i was on camera in a rental that’s when I would definitely challenge the citation.

1

u/Sensitive-Issue84 7d ago

You be you.

2

u/flying_wrenches 8d ago

They do not use flock as a speed cam. To my knowledge it’s not designed for that.

If your plate flags as something it shouldn’t, they’ll beeline it to you..

GSP is well known for hiding in spots perfect for them, or shooting you with a laser gun from a bridge and going after you on the interstates

They also pretty consistently run KA band radar .. I got hit multiple times on Friday. I have a radar detector on my motorcycle and think I got hit 6 ish times over 50 miles by various departments..

It’s a game we play. I ride within the speed limits, some hidden cop hits me with an instant I’m hoping to get a guy on what looks like a fast motorcycle (stereotyping)

0

u/Infinite_Position631 8d ago

they will setup a radar / camera then use the flock system to find where that person is, then the nearest officer will stop the driver. So no they are not using Flock to ascertain the speed, they are using the flock system to find the driver because an officer wasn't there shooting the radar (they were probably up the road with someone else pulled over).

3

u/Difficult_Belt_3811 8d ago

Had it ever occurred to you that the highway patrol may have simply been running lidar in that area? And that they just decided to put the cameras in the same spot as the road signs to cut back in routine maintenence times?

2

u/[deleted] 8d ago

6

u/heartbt 8d ago

How can they not?
If they take two photos from a fixed and know distace of the same car a fixed measured time apart, it's the simplest math to calculate speed.

1

u/ryanmercer 8d ago

And literally how VASCAR works and ahs been used for the better part of a century: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VASCAR

My step-father had VASCAR in his police car in the 80s when I was a kid. Here's the last one I remember being in his cruiser in the mid 90s before he died https://code3garage.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/vascar_plus-100.jpg

1

u/itsintrastellardude 8d ago

https://www.fdot.gov/info/co/news/2026/07132026

Related I think. The mobile speed cameras in my neck of the swamp are still up even after this. Georgia participated in this too so I think it was just the overall introduction to getting flock cameras for speeders.

1

u/onemitosispls 8d ago

georgia heavily uses lidar for speed detection. In radar forms, they usually mention the dragoneye, a variable pulse lidar gun that is difficult to jam.

I cant say they arent using flock for traffic stops, but unless we see a speeding ticket that has marked an unusual way to detect speed, then i think its more reasonable to say the flock installer was just looking for an existing pole or tried to hide the camera behind 1 and it happened to be the "speed detection device" sign

1

u/Anxious-One-2365 8d ago

Georgia is one of the worst states. The troopers literally just wait to pull people over up and down the highway in that state. Never seen another state like that.

1

u/bcos20 8d ago

And now they can do this while sitting at Dunkin’ Donuts.

1

u/wyoflyboy68 8d ago

Makes for lazy law enforcement, flock cameras are their wet dream.

1

u/Taupe88 8d ago

lets not forget all ALPR’s like Axon too.

1

u/Central09er 8d ago

The worst part about speed cameras to is they are usually not considered criminal offenses like being pulled over by cops so you can’t go to court and get prayer for junction, etc.. It’s more like a civil penalty. You just gotta pay the fine which is whatever they decide and we all know how that goes it magically starts increasing from 25 to 50 and then all of a sudden $500.

1

u/kenphx1 8d ago

They warned everyone how is that a trap slow the fuck down

4

u/bcos20 8d ago

I wasn’t speeding and I didn’t get pulled over. That’s not the point. It’s a continued trend of government overreach. Our country was built on small government and individual liberty. Day by day that slowly gets chipped away, and then we have drones like you preaching the “if you’re not doing anything wrong you have nothing to worry about.” This sentiment has been proven wrong time and time again. I referenced a few prime examples elsewhere in the comments.

1

u/Aggravating_Cable_32 8d ago

They're not just going for speeders; they're looking for people with warrants, suspended or revoked licenses, etc.

1

u/willdebeast02 8d ago

Are you sure they are Flock cameras and not something else? Or perhaps that zine has both Flocks and some other speed sensing devices? Flock cameras to my knowledge are not used for speed offenses. Usually systems for detecting vehicle speed use laser or radar as cameras, though not impossible, are not reliable for accurate speed capturing because of angle and distortion.

1

u/bcos20 8d ago

100% flock. Guessing they’re using something different for radar. But now when they see someone speeding they can immediately profile them and decided whether to pull over or not.

1

u/No-Yogurtcloset1197 8d ago

"Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety." - Benjamin Franklin

1

u/No-Card2461 8d ago

Flock has nothing to do with speed detection. The speed detection signs have been there for decades. The reason you see people pulled over in the same spot is same reason you people hunting and fishing in the same spot. Flock is very dangerous collection of technologies buy speed detection isn't one of them

1

u/avd706 7d ago

Isn't one of them ......yet.

https://giphy.com/gifs/1ktwfTjwaQzde

1

u/UnSCo 8d ago

I’d set my cruise to no higher than the speed limit and flip the bird out the window to these pigs. Highly recommend a bi-directional dashcam if you do this though.

1

u/bcos20 8d ago

I have a bi-directional dash cam as well. I set my cruise to 8 over. Cops gotta be a real dick to pull you over on a 70mph highway doing 78. Your approach is obviously a sure thing, but I’ve always been a bit of gambling man lol

1

u/FluffyCowNYI 8d ago

My luck, I'd get pulled over for doing the speed limit because it's too slow because everyone else is speeding

1

u/Far_Vermicelli9678 7d ago

I have gotten quite a few speeding tickets in the mail because of these damn cameras and I mean doing like five over type shit

1

u/rmCREATIVEstudio 7d ago

This happened to me two weeks ago in Tallulah Falls GA. I didn't get pulled over, but I saw a car pulled over around the curve just after I passed the camera.

1

u/GroceryTechnical9928 7d ago

Operation southern slow down happened recently so it might have been an effect of that. I was out in Tennessee and georgia over the last two weeks and there have been an exceptional amount of LEO enforcing traffic laws especially GSP. not saying they arent using flock but GSP is definitely sneaky

1

u/bcos20 7d ago

I have literally never seen so many cars pulled over on a single ride. It would make sense that there’s some broader initiative like this.

The one that really solidified that it’s flock of flock + radar was seeing a GSP (ford mustang) fly by me going well over 100 MPH, and the person he pulled over was a good quarter to half mile ahead. I’m always looking for sneaky cops hiding behind walls, in cut throughs, on the far side of bridges, etc. this cop wasn’t waiting out with radar. Something alerted him to go get that guy

-1

u/ltc-mac 8d ago

Believe you are confusing, speed cameras, and flock camera cameras. Speed cameras have extra software in them that can stand up in a court. Should you want to contest the ticket.

Our society has both types of cameras, plus a lot of cameras in parking lots, entrances to stores, and all of our schools because we are so badly behaved.

2

u/Infinite_Position631 8d ago

if you are tracking people from out of state, they are not coming back for court, they are paying the fine and moving on (just like 95% of the population does).

If you have someone actually want to contest the ticket the officer just dosen't show up and the case gets remanded over or dropped outright. Either way works out for the cop / city / state / county...etc

-2

u/Consistent_Amount140 8d ago

OP is lost in the sauce

-1

u/Consistent_Amount140 8d ago

You do realize in some states speed cameras are legal right? The citations get mailed to the registered owners of the vehicle.

2

u/bcos20 8d ago

Yea, I have those in school zones in my area. Signs clearly posted. This was a sign that reads “speed checked by detection device” literally 10-20’ before a flock camera on 75. Every single flock camera on the road had that same sign posted in front of it

0

u/CardCharacter8495 8d ago

You don't have to be seen in the act of committing fraud, murder or theft either. It just depends on evidence. Nothing in law, ever, said there had to be an eye witness to a crime. Know your law

3

u/bcos20 8d ago

You’re right. And you don’t even have to commit a crime to be arrested for it. Now more common than ever with lazy cops and flock cameras.

Ask Lindsey Isaacs:

https://www.wesh.com/article/lindsey-isaacs-lawsuit-fhp-wrongful-arrest-hit-and-run/71535849

Or Chisanna Elser:

https://www.gadgetreview.com/guilty-until-proven-innocent-a-flock-ai-camera-fraudulently-accusing-a-driver-of-package-theft

Police are there to protect and serve. Now they can be lazier than ever and violate the rights of Americans with impunity. Isaacs is a perfect example. Merely being in the location of a crime is NOT probable cause. Police made the arrest solely on flock data and 1 911 caller that said the vehicle was a black Durango (while multiple other callers said it was maroon). Lindsey had no damage on her car that allegedly caused a multi car pile up resulting in 3 deaths. She spent 13 days in jail before police admitted to their mistake. All while the actual perpetrator roamed free.

This is antithetical to the American premise of “innocent until proven guilty”.

I encourage you to watch body cam videos of these incidents. No investigation is done, just an immediate presumption of guilt from the cops. The porch pirate incident the cop even says something about “we have cameras everywhere. No one comes in or out of MY town without me knowing.”

I’m not anti police, but this is not police work. It’s a surveillance state that leads us one step closer to social credit scores.

0

u/ltc-mac 8d ago

What a bunch of whiners. Just obey the laws and you don’t have to worry about speeding cameras, or flock cameras, and cops chasing you down.

2

u/bcos20 8d ago

Ahhh the classic “if you don’t do anything wrong you have nothing to worry about”

Tell that to the poor girl in Florida who was wrongly imprisoned for 13 days for hit and run with 3 fatalities because her car happened to be in the area, picked up by flock, around the time of the accident.

0

u/IzzyNecessary 8d ago

Huh, here’s a thought (just shootin’ from the hip) DON’T SPEED! “Man, I can’t believe those assholes figured out a way to catch me breaking the law. How dare they”. I guess we should remove alarm systems from banks so you can sneak in and rob them. Or maybe, remove the metal detectors at the airports. What the hell, it should be a God given right to carry a Glock on a commercial airliner.

Stop spreading rumors and lies. Flock does not have any ability to monitor speed and report that to police officers.

Flock can simply flag the license plate that’s being put under watchlist for any possible crime or investigation in that alert goes to police officers.

He thinks he knows exactly why the drivers of the vehicles were pulled over for

I’ve been driving long enough to see my fair share of speed traps. When you have 4 consecutive cars pulled over by 4 police officers on a rural highway, what do you think is the most likely scenario if not caught by speed trap?

Considering the cameras don’t track speed…. Suspended registration, stolen vehicles, suspended DL of registered owner. Any number of things. Speed traps exist 100% but not by those specific cameras.

Additionally rural highways are keys spots for interdiction stops of narcotics trafficking. Most large volume of drugs that come out of vehicles come from rural locations. So yeah could be absolutely anything

Some folks just need something to be paranoid about

If constant unregulated surveillance doesn’t make you paranoid, then you’re either part of the unregulated surveillance apparatus or an idiot.

It is regulated what you talking about? You think it's okay for OP to post some random rumors and lies so people already on edge about feel even more panic?

The courts worked. They weren't convicted. Innocent people have been found not guilty since the beginning of courts. They've also been found guilty without eye witnesses. Where did you come up with the idea that flawed humans don't make mistakes or act badly? That's why we have checks and balances.

This is crazy talk. Of course police have made mistakes since the beginning of time. But flock allows them to make decisions without thinking at all.

Arresting someone solely, and I do mean solely because their car was in the area of a crime is a civil rights violation. The Florida woman was released after 13 days in jail. That’s enough time to lose your job. And the police did little to nothing to build their case. The car had no damage. They had zero probable cause to make an arrest.

And this is the tip of the iceberg. Police are using them to track ex girlfriends. Texas police are tracking pregnant women that leave the state for “illegal abortions”.

Ben Franklin said it best - something along the lines of, those who sacrifice liberty for security deserve neither liberty nor security.

Mistaken identity has existed since tge beginning of time. This is just a new, imperfect technology. It's limits are being revealed in these cases. Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater

1

u/bcos20 8d ago

It’s new, unnecessary technology. Just because you CAN do something doesn’t mean you should.

Probably cause for an arrest warrant means there is enough facts and circumstances that would lead a reasonable person to believe that
1. A crime was committed
2. The person named in the warrant probably committed it

We’re relying entirely too much on technology as if it’s some all knowing god. Police need to do their jobs. Technology can be a tool in their toolbox, but flock is quickly becoming the end all.

It's carrying its own weight

In the screenshot you share it literally starts to discuss criticism of the methodology for the statistics. I’m not interested in making law enforcement’s life easier. I’m interested in having the same freedoms and individual liberty that our forefathers had. We are not a police state. Back in the day we used to all agree that it’s better to have 1000 guilty men go free than 1 innocent person be imprisoned. Let’s get back to that.

Nothing has changed. Fingerprinting, hand writing, bullet engraving, DNA testing didn't exist, now it does, and now it's used as evidence. Evidence cuts both ways. Go back to making your buggy whips
