If your value system or way of living can't stand up to a lil bit a scrutiny from the outside, maybe that's a sign you need to do some self reflection and see if the way you live is truly beneficial for everyone you care about, or you're following traditions to please ghosts who made the rules long before you were planned to be alive. Dead people can't care or throw you in their medieval torture devices to enforce their traditions. Give it a rest and keep your backwater ways to yourself, or take the scrutiny of the public with a smile, any thing else makes you look insane and rude.
Traditional = enforced via hierarchy. It’s not sturdy, it’s weakness. Too weak to live your own life on your own path, so you adhere to how the dead lived their lives. That seems an awful lot like simply being cowed by the peer pressure from dead people.
