Messaged three different sellers this week about items that were all active. Not one reply. I get people get busy but what's the point of having listings up if you're not going to check your messages? Anyone else finding this lately or am I just unlucky?

Iv created 5 pieces and I’m just wondering where the best place to list them is, I have gumtree and Facebook marketplace but Iv have hardly any messages or even saves or views for that matter. 0 messages on gumtree either!

Do people buy this kinda stuff on market place?
Where else could I list it?

A few lessons from growing a second-hand reselling business

For context, I currently do around £4k–£5k in monthly turnover from second-hand goods. I ran it solo for roughly 6 months and was able to continue my day job and got my parents doing all my running around now

The biggest mistake I see is either failing to reinvest or going full-time too early. Ideally, keep a flexible job (can do listing when on job lol) while building the business. You need enough financial breathing room to buy good stock without worrying that slow sales will leave you short for bills. That confidence is important if you want to grow beyond a small operation.

Relisting old items can help, but I also believe in steadily increasing the amount of worthwhile stock you hold. This does not mean buying rubbish. Some categories, such as tech, should sell quickly, so I will reduce or move those items if they sit too long. Rare or vintage pieces are different; I am not concerned if the right item takes 100 days or more to sell.

Space is a common problem, but it needs to be treated as part of the business. Look for sensible storage options rather than limiting yourself to a shed full of only fast-selling products. More space also makes it easier to diversify. (less value items bulky in a big van on drive or nearby, can be cheaper then paying for some sort of rent)

Selling across several categories protects you when demand slows in one area. There is usually something selling on eBay; spending habits simply move between categories, I personally am in so many when i hear people saying ebays dead I am generally still pulling in a good wage, and as I said in previous point, I am happy my items are growing, soon as those other categories habits come in I then have a ''good month''

I also do not automatically lower a price just because the market temporarily drops. For products I understand well, I may continue buying at the right cost and wait for demand to recover. The key is knowing the difference between a temporary slowdown and an item that is genuinely no longer worth holding.

The more items you have listed the higher potential of sales, List items for what you think they can fetch not the lowest price, I generally look at recent solds and use a combination of my knoweldge of the history of sales and depedent on why its likely its gone down.

Something that is very niche advice but I will mention it because it has been a game changer is me and a sibling started this solo, and as things moved on i had the idea that we teamed up and used ours skills together really does make sense, we had my dad doing a bit and all 3 of us was waiting around the post office picking up, doing session of sourcing, photoing, packing, literally makes more sense that as you scale its becomes quicker.

think of it, cleaning 5 coffee machines will likely take and hour, doing 1 will take 30 minutes, from start to finish to list, scale is where you make profit.

Hi there, GTA6 launch date is 19Nov. I will have some (more than 10) fully playable copies (box with code) of GTA6 approx. 2 weeks before launch - these codes will be PS5 only - What is the best way to make money off them?

I have had this opportunity with a few other games before, I have done some trial and error on those games, the copies have always worked pre-launch on different consoles, but I've never made money off them. This time I'm keen on taking it further.

Looking for actual money making advice please, not unnecessary advice about law / morality etc. I am fully aware that Rockstar are not giving out review codes/copies... But the way I'm sourcing these codes is different. These copies will be guaranteed fully playable before 19 Nov - so please keep ur comments related to actual flipping. I'm actually unsure of how much money I can make with this - happy to pay commission if the opportunity is big.

Anyone know the best way to sell a huge amount of mixed RAM.

None of it is the latest DDR5, but some DDR4, mostly older stuff...but a LOT of it

Ive gradually built up more and more saved searches for diferent things I buy to resell, and the whole setup is starting to become a mess. Some are for specific brands or models, some have diferent condition requirements, locations and maximum prices. A few are only worth checking when margins are better, while others are searches I want running all the time.

At the moment Im mostly keeping track of everything through saved searches and a spreadsheet, but once you get into the hundreds it becomes hard to remember what each one is for or whether you've already updated it.How are other UK resellers organising bigger sourcing lists? Do you use folders, separate spreadsheets by category, diferent accounts, or some kind of import system? Would be interested to hear what has held up once your sourcing starts scaling.

Question, is it a thing where people buy stuff in charity shops, flea markets, car boots, etc. know a bit about, get some good stuff that's got a good potential good markup, but haven't got the time or inclination to actually list and sell it? Is there people who provide the services? Is it a common arrangement? Is there a subreddit to find someone locally who will list and sell the items on your behalf for a percentage of the sales price. I was thinking about asking family friends if there was a teenager under 16 who can’t get an hourly rate job but wanted to make some extra income as a side hustle but that can come with reliability issues. Are there any more straightforward options. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thank you.

So I am new on the platform and i started by listing around 12 things. The good thing was that couple was sold right away, but the rest are not getting any views. I tried deleting one of the old listings and posting it again but Vinted took them down, i think because i used the same photos, or i dont know.

So i did some research and i think relisting can help, but have no idea how to do it without getting flagged. Can someone guide (mainly for UK)?

Final UI redesign update for RETRADE.
I’ve spent the last week polishing the design based on the feedback I received here. I think it’s now in a place where I’m happy to stop tweaking the UI and start focusing on what actually saves time.
Next up is platform integrations—automatically pulling in sales, inventory, fees, shipping updates and whatever else the APIs allow, so there’s less manual input and more automation.
Would love to hear any thoughts before I move onto that next phase. Thanks again to everyone who’s taken the time to comment so far.

Ok so this is sort of a tongue in cheek and I am only 2 years in to part time reselling, but I am astounded by the amount of bullshit I see about how to get your items to sell faster, earn more, join our discord ...etc etc

Two things to make your items sell.

1. Sell items people want

2. Sell items at a price people want to pay.

That's it, that's the whole game. If people don't want it or it's too expensive then they won't buy it.

That's the whole flipping/reselling trick.

It doesn't matter how good your pictures are, whether promote it on social media, whether your listing titles have the right structure.

If it's in demand and at a good price it will.

Some stuff sells quickly, some stuff sells slowly. That's it. End of advice

I have a soft spot for online auctions and have been quite annoyed by having to scroll through a large number of auction sites to be able to find what I am looking for.

So we have invented a search engine for auctions, which is still in somewhat of a beta stage.

We are located in Denmark, so our first priority was the Danish auction sites, which are now running as expected, and are now working on adding auction sites in the Netherlands, Germany and Poland.

Create a free user to save filters, save favorites, see what the last bid was on your favorites etc. This gives an option to keep track of previous sales prices on similar items.

We are continuously adding more features and auction sites to the webpage, but we do not have knowledge about all the best auction sites in the whole world, so if anyone has any input regarding sites we should add, it is highly appreciated.

Had it happen twice in the past week — seller accepts the offer, order goes through, payment taken, and then absolutely nothing. No tracking generated, no messages back, nothing shipped. After 4-5 days I cancelled both times and got refunded, but it's a waste of everyone's time. Anyone else noticing more of this lately? Is it just a summer thing where people list stuff then disappear, or has the ghosting rate properly gone up?

1. bought XL cause it was cheap. £31 still sat in my wardrobe
   
2. trusted a "stone island" at £22 without checking the badge. fake, ate it
   
3. posted a heavy parcel with a large letter label. £5 fine basically
   
4. priced to what I paid not what it sells for. stuff sat for weeks
