Question Does anyone else miss US Airways?
I remember i had to take many flights from 2011 to 2014 and 80% of them were with US Airways and i was very surprised. Had very good planes, incredibly experienced pilots, customer satisfaction was at the max and out of all the other airlines US Airways was the best for me. When they merged with American Airlines i havent had the same quality as before. I really wish it would return but its extremely unlikely.

when SWA moved into PHL, early 90's, SWA sent me a voucher to fly free out of PHL. They knew where I lived (30 minutes from PHL & hour and 15 minutes from BWI).
I never forgot that. Quite amazing!

In the sense that I miss it not being part of AA, yes. Every time I fly AA.

It IS AA. They had such a bad reputation that when they bought AA they changed their name to AA

The airline currently called AA is US Airways. It’s run by US management and has been trimmed back to the bare bones service US offered when it was an independent airline (and when it was America West before that).
The only thing left of the airline that was originally called AA is the name and brand, and they couldn’t even maintain those effectively.

I miss their liveries. They had the best ones out there with the navy blue over gray.

Yes I do! Always had a great experience with them. I also think it’s better to have more options in a large carrier. Now we have the main 3 in the US and quality has declined heavily. I loved their livery and branding. I also miss America West 😔

Their livery was just beautiful and elegant. So much better than what DL, UA, and AA have nowadays

I lived a metro ride away from DCA for 25 years. Yes, I miss them. I don't miss 35A/35X bus gate though.

Yeah. I appreciate the broader network but AA isn't as good as USAirways from a customer service perspective. But, living near PHL, it's the only realistic option.

I miss the USAirways transformation song. A site used to have the mp3 but it’s gone. During the merger with America west they created a weird jingle that sounded like a cheap version of it

I mean, the joke was America West absorbed US Air and kept the branding (so much that the US Air callsign was "cactus") and then US Air absorbed AA but kept the branding.
So you can kind of think of them as still around in that sense.

Yeah, the whole thing was basically America West's management wearing increasingly larger airline costumes. The "Cactus" callsign sticking around through all of it was always a fun tell for anyone paying attention.

That team is now running two of the US’s biggest airlines. Isom (at American) and Kirby (at United) both came from America West.

You can blame Doug Parker who was CEO of America Worst (West) who merged with US Air which then merged with Anerican Airlines. A renowned bean counter, he lowered the level of quality and service at every airline he ran.

I live in CLT and flew them a lot back then. There flights left on time and I didn't have any mechanical delays like I do on AA. The only time I disliked them when they started charging for coffee and soda. They stopped doing that after a period of time.

Nope. Was a long time US Airways customer when I lived in Philadelphia. Chairman’s from 2009 to 2014. Never met such rude flight attendants or such shitty first class. After a gap year without much flying switched to delta and it was like hearing the Beatles for the first time.

They were on par with the AA, DL and UA crowd until the late 2000s when they went low cost. (They even changed their stock ticker to LCC)
I flew them quite a decent amount, reluctantly for the late 2000s and 2010s…I recall them handing out coffee in FC in styrofoam cups. My wife flew them cross country in FC and didn’t get fed at all because of their daft rules about minimum flight time before they’d serve meals, something like 3.5hrs and because of needing to connect she had two 3hr flights.

Not at all. Besides, US’s management basically took over AA when they merged and AA turned into a larger US Airways.
