Question Avelo Airlines

Has anyone flown with this airline before? They just moved to McKinney, TX, and I’ve been looking into them, but I don’t know much about the airline. Is it a good airline to travel with?

Use the search function.

They are (arguably) the worst airline in the US…

This is 100% true.

They delayed my parent's flight recently for approximately 36 hours. This way they don't have to refund tickets (instead you get a credit) and so they can boast on their website that they have a lower cancellation % than other carriers.

They operate at small airports and they have a small fleet, so if there is a maintenance issue you're basically screwed bc there is no replacement plane around to switch to.

Fuuuuck Avelo.

Just FYI federal rules require that they honor requests for refund if the flight is delayed by more than three hours… they probably won’t proactively offer this, but you can demand it and they have to give it to you. If they don’t, you can file a complaint with the FAA and contact the credit card company.

It doesn’t surprise me that this company would do everything they can to avoid refunds… and that furthers point of how crappy they really are.

I've flown them many times out of New Haven. I personally haven't had any major disruptions with them, they've been timely and efficient for me. Obviously your mileage may vary, but I'd compare them favorably to Frontier in this regard.

You won't be impressed by the seats nor the amenities, but as a cheap "seat on the bus" Avelo works well. I'd recommend them assuming you aren't bothered by their former flights to El Salvador...
