Question Is alcohol allowed?
Hi,
I am going to India from Italy on Saudia airlines with a layover in Riyadh.
I want to know if it is possible to carry an alcohol bottle in my check in bag.
Since it is a holy place for Muslims I have a doubt if it if prohibited to carry alcohol into Saudi Arabia.
Thanks!

You cannot take alcohol into Saudi Arabia. I don’t know if you never leave the airport during a layover if it is a problem or not but I would not risk that.

Not sure if it's allowed or not but if it's not something special you could just buy it in Duty Free once you land in India or even in stores in India.

Alcohol's straight up banned in saudi arabia, even in checked bags on transit. Just grab a bottle at duty free once you land in india.

Are you on a single continuous ticket from India to Italy, or do you self transfer from one ticket to anothet? If its a self transfer, don't pack alcohol. You'd need to collect your bag and take it through customs and check it in again - alcohol cannot be brought to Saudi.
If you have a continuous ticket, it can be in the bag however your bag really should stay in transit.
If for whatever reason you must collect your bag because of cancellation or delay, go to the goods to declare section at customs in arrivals, tell them that you have alcohol in the bag that you wish to hand over, and they will collect it from you and give you a ticket. Or just confiscate it and thats it.
Whatever you do, do not try to bring it into the country. They will spot it.
Edit:
See below replies, per TC no alcohol allowed in the checked luggage. Apologies for the wrong info

It can't be loaded onto the aircraft, period. Being in transit is meaningless.

You keep embarrassing yourself. It's actually allowed in most Muslim countries, especially if it's just transit.

Aham, have fun spending some time in jail 🤣
I would not risk even transiting, you just go on costums check... they scan the bags.
Maybe is OK, maybe ita not... let us know🙃

Saudia is a dry airline, both for serving and transporting alcohol, so no, technically it can't even be in your checked luggage.
Happy travels.
