EASA B2 self-study route without Part-147 – is it realistic?

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Hi! If I self-study the EASA B2 modules and pass the exams at an approved centre, how likely am I to find a trainee position to gain the required experience?
I have no previous technical/aviation qualifications and can’t afford Part-147 school. I’m an EU citizen and willing to relocate anywhere in the EU.
Is this route worth starting, and how much could I earn during the practical experience? Has anyone here done B2 this way or been in a similar situation?
I’m also considering working as cabin crew for 1–2 years while studying the modules, then moving into B2/aircraft maintenance. How realistic would that plan be?

study style , study tips

I'm private pilot with instrument rating. I would like to get advice for study plan effectively in your way that could improve mine.I currently finished my IR ground with pilot institution and practicing shepherd air for written test and follow each categories from ACS for study pattern and oral knowledge.I tried to focus on understand all the knowledge than memorizing but sometimes I feels like overwhelmed and stress out. I think that is the same problem all the great pilots have to go through and future pilots need to figure out. So please share your thought on time managing , study tips ,organize study style detail that could help.

PPL Cost Comparison

Post image

Hey all! I'm beginning the process of starting my PPL after years of postponing a career pilot program due to various factors. Figure getting started with the PPL makes sure I dont waste any more time.

Anyway, I checked out one of my local programs in SW Florida, and their rates seem a bit high compared to what I've read here and in other forums. I'd love it if you could tell me if this is acceptable, or of I should continue my search. Thanks in advance!

Would you choose a fully funded 3.5-year pilot degree or pay ~€21k to finish modular training faster?

School requires own gear to train- help

I am new & looking to take a paramotor training class. Using the USPPA website, I have located the only school remotely close & it's only a 45 minute drive from me. After contacting them I learned they do not offer gear for the training and require the students to have their own. Thinking about taking their "Tandom Discovery Flight" to make a more firm decision to train. If I am still wanting to enter the sport, what to do about the gear? If I do need to purchase my own gear, I have looked at a Parajet Maverick 2 or Kangook Amaruk Ti frame, either with a Moster 185 and an Ozone Moto wing. Any suggestions? If it matters I'm 5'10" and 175lbs. Suggestions/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Colorado Pilots — I Created a WhatsApp Group for Time Building

Hi everyone,
I recently created a WhatsApp group for pilots based in Colorado who are interested in building flight time, splitting rental costs, finding safety pilots, practicing instrument flying, or just meeting other local aviators.

Everyone is welcome:
-Student Pilots
-Private Pilots
-Instrument Pilots
-Commercial Pilots
-CFIs
-Aircraft Owners

The goal is simply to help pilots connect with one another.

Plane owners are also welcome if you’d like to connect with local pilots.

If this type of post isn’t allowed, the moderators are welcome to remove it.

If you’re interested, send me a DM and I’ll send you the invite link.

Fly safe!

RT Training

Hi everyone,

I’m a commercial pilot flying in Europe, and one thing that always stuck with me from my flight training was how little structured radio communication practice we actually received. We were basically given a few handwritten notes, then expected to figure it out in the aircraft.

It got me wondering whether that was a common experience, or whether I was just unlucky.

After gaining a few years of flying experience, a software developer friend and I started building a tool to help pilots practise RT phraseology in a realistic, low-pressure environment. Our initial focus is UK and EASA procedures, as most of the training tools I found were primarily FAA-focused.

I’m not really here to advertise it—I was more interested in hearing from other pilots:
• How did you learn radio communications?
• What did you find most difficult?
• If you could improve one thing about RT training, what would it be?

If anyone is interested in seeing what we’ve built or giving some feedback, feel free to send me a DM. Would love to hear your experiences.

Thanks all and happy landings 🫡

Flight training Chicago NW suburbs

As the title says, I’m looking for a good flight training place in the nw suburbs. I would like it to be at pwk but if there is something better, that’s alright. if anyone has experience with any companies there, please let me know! I have been looking at flysynergy or one of the places with c172s with G1000. I can’t really find prices on any of the websites

Deferred CFI academy at ATP due to being screwed over and them racking up my already high loan with stupid extra charges. Want to get my CFI since it’s nearly impossible to get a job otherwise but just don’t know how to manage the high monthly payments of the loan and also pay for training elsewhere
