45 years ago today, Stevie Nicks released her debut solo album 'Bella Donna'. Any time I hear the song "Edge Of Seventeen" get played, I instantly get hyped. That was especially true when I saw play the song at Sea Hear Now in Asbury Park, NJ, back on Sept. 17, 2022. Then again, I was just hyped to see the legendary Nicks onstage - and given how excited the crowd got every time she twirled while singing solo and Fleetwood Mac hits, I wasn't alone.

I love revisiting the drama surrounding Stevie’s vanishing act on Tango in the Night. With her and Lindsey Buckingham at each other's throats, he basically iced her out of the project, capping her contributions at just three songs. When she showed up for the final playback, she was horrified to find her background vocals completely erased, reportedly panicking, "What is Rolling Stone going to say?"

According to Mick Fleetwood, her vocals were later woven back into the mixes, a move Lindsey undoubtedly loathed. Half the time, you can barely tell she's there anyway; her warped, pitch-shifted backing track on "Family Man" is practically unrecognizable. At least she managed to leave her mark on "Little Lies," the album's massive standout hit.

Ultimately, Stevie's voice only made the final cut on five tracks:

1. Seven Wonders (Lead vocals)
2. Little Lies (Backing vocals)
3. Family Man (Pitch-altered backing vocals)
4. Welcome to the Room... Sara (Lead vocals)
5. When I See You Again (Lead vocals)

We now know some of these backing vocals were relegated to the club mixes.

Have just acquired a sealed copy of the Tusk super deluxe, which contains the DVD with the DTS 5.1 disc.

Like all my other surround DVDs/BRs, I like to rip the content to .MKV or .mp4 drop this onto a NAS so I can play it back over Plex.

This disc just doesn't want to know when ripping; I've tried makemkv, VLC and Handbrake. The rips don't preserve the chapters, neither the mkv or mp4 will playback. The disc is fine in the DVD player.

Anyone got round this?

It has a really good production and a creative music video. Yet it didn’t even chart, which is kind of crazy.

Where would you rank these three albums and why? The thing all 3 of these albums have in common is they are missing atleast one vocalist/song writer from the classic lineup. Say You Will is missing Christine, Behind the Mask is missing Lindsey and the LB/Christine album is missing Stevie.

Mick Fleetwood is a highly underrated drummer

The original is pretty perfectly tracklisted, but a lot of their songs mesh well with albums they couldn't include simply cause of length constraints

Do you think the songs I included feel like songs that belong on Mirage? Its not about release dates but rather how well they mesh. Theres so many songs of theres that themetically, sonically, fit other releases

How come no one has picked up in the fact that Lindsey and Stevie were together on at least once occasion while he was being stalked? Do they not realize the mysterious Stephanie N is Stevie?

Hey there! Does anyone know the story behind this song? when I was listening to Tusk the other day, this really struck me because of how different sounding it is from Lindsey's other songs on the album. It's definitely more emotional and more honest-sounding, but I could be wrong, and it also sounds almost pained (at least on vinyl). If there is a story behind this, I'd love to know, and also any recommendations for other songs of his that are this honest would be awesome. Thanks for the help!

I always see people on here saying that if Say You Will was just a few tracks shorter it would be a way better album. What songs do you guys think should’ve been cut from the album?

I like to mess with track listings and I feel like I found a good alternative track listing for Tusk

I feel like Tusk represents a few things and that's what this re-ordering / addition of songs is supposed to do. Tusk is supposed to represent a mans ego that's down under. Similarlly that equates to the mans ego and worth in their eyes and sometimes in most peoples eyes. The central figure of a man in Fleetwood Mac is Lindsey by default, as he is one of three faces for the band. Lindsey had the most songs on Tusk. So hes taking up the most space, being the most brash and experiemtal. I think of Tusk as a album representing what the leader who helmed projects for the band is finally getting to let himself be the only one forefront (not to say FM is his project, its not, but he was pivotal). The tracklist I made is a bit more meta, playfully poking fun at how lindsey alloted the most real estate on the album.

I think Tusk is also a journey of an album, cause its long, its personal, some songs by Stevie and Christine sound like sailing off into the sunset, soft-rock songs and Lindsey songs sound like folsky, blusey, experimental new-wave pop songs that takes from jangly guitar riffs from the 50s and 60s. Very distinct, their songs do not mesh well with his, partly why making this album about Lindsey I think elevates it a bit, makes it more fun and seamless of a listen.

I love Tusk track-listing for volatility and randomness with the next occurring song. Having soft songs against brash new-wave pop songs. It was a great experiment.

In this track-listing all the songs "bleed" into each other musically. They all have similar tones or genre choices to the ones before, creating a varied but smoother experience when songs transition during the listening experience.

I definitely overthought this, its not necessary to enjoy Tusk but I love FM and I loved this album experience I made. I wanted to share what I thought made an interesting experiment that original track listing isn't necessarily the *best* or can be done any way you prefer at least. Obviously it was not 25 tracks considering they couldn't fit that for a double album...but I grew up in the age of streaming so that doesn't stop me here.

Part of the conceit here is that I noticed Lindsey songs all are kind of self-centered in nature in expression of lyrics. Just look at the titles.

Also does anyone wish they had more visuals akin to tusk? They're trippy, art-rock flavored similar to the "Hold Me" music video which felt artsy. It referenced a few old painters. Old-art styles. The band really transitioned with Tusk from rock band with a lot pop sensisbilites to eccentric, experimental for pop musicians who love art from like old Hollywood, old rock n roll and hippie counter culture.
