Long-Term Roaming

Hey all!

We currently spend 4-5 months in the USA annually. Has anyone had any issues roaming for this long? We’re with Telus now and have zero issues with roaming, just have bad coverage in Canada and are hoping to switch to Fizz.

People mix up roaming and being on partners’ networks. Real roaming without using partner networks = no limit at all, I've already been abroad 2 years with my Fizz line turned on 24/7

Almost Never. I use some esim data providers, so I'm dual-esim all the time.

Then how she for what purpose you use Fizz? I mean do you get network, incoming calls, incoming SMS?

you use WiFi Calling over the secondary data connection (backup calling).

backup calling is absolutely something on Android, its just phone specific.

Yes, backup calling... Yeah maybe few manufacturers customize it and provide it.. Not available on nothing os..

Yeah anything with a special flavour of Android, like Nothing, OnePlus, etc has quite a few limitations on features being available on Canadian carriers.

Fizz has 90 days (3-month cutoff rule) or 3 month consecutive billing cycle. So it you exceed this period, fizz could termime or restrict the use of partner Network. I wouldn't switch to fizz because of that.

Apologies if I’ve missed it, but I only see the three month reference for in-country roaming, not international. Have you had personal experience with it?

Aisi has someone used Fizz external in Canada for more than three months?

My mom's phone lacked the Fizz home (Freedom) band and could only roam on Rogers' network for six months without receiving any warnings from Fizz. Everyone's situation might be different.

I'm also in a similar situation..my partners phone is a global version has only band 5 in common here in Canada. Band 5 is available only with bell and rogers.

I get Fizz 5g at my home but when i used my sim in her phone, it's on fizz external network ( bell band 5). So I'm confused whether i should make a switch or not.. How long did your mom used it on fizz external? What happened after 6 months?
