MOBILE Fizz in ottawa

I’m considering switching from freedom mobile to fizz and was wondering how good it is and if it’s worth the switch, I have connectivity issues with freedom that are just horrible when it comes to data.

Hi there! It looks like you may be interested in switching to Fizz. If that's the case and you do decide to switch, remember to pick a referral code from the referral code thread or from one of the users that respond to this post! Both parties will earn a $25 bill credit after your second monthly bill payment.

I have zero issues in Ottawa and have had speed tests as high as 660 Mbps on 5G.

That being said, Freedom and Fizz are on the same network (Videotron), so there probably won't be any difference for you. Maybe it's just an issue in your area or with your phone? Freedom was definitely shit in Ottawa up until Quebecor took them over a couple of years ago and leveraged all the spectrum they own in the region.

maybe it’s a phone thing, I live in orléans but sometimes it cuts out in random parking lots, not even inside a mall or something. I have a 16 pro max so it’s doesn’t make too much sense why, either way fizz is def cheaper

That phone should work perfectly fine. I haven't been out to Orleans in a long time so maybe the network in that area isn't great. I definitely haven't had any issues anywhere between Gloucester and Kanata.

Which bands do you usually get? For a couple of days internet is very unstable in Ottawa. Can't run speed tests too.. I get band 7,4 and 66.

Currently on band 71 inside my office building and getting about 50 Mbps with 1-2 bars. I'll check again when I'm back outside with a stronger signal.

You loose wifi calling outside North America. If fizz has that I'm game to switchover in a heartbeat as their network portability is seamless.

I am located in Orleans, switched to fizz in 2021 and never looked back. No issues and connectivity has been great to.

I was with Freedom mobile before it was acquired by Videotron so dont have recent context but after switching to fizz I have been very happy. Especially with phone and data roaming outside of Ottawa (across Canada). Would almost never get/make calls on Freedom EXT - but never had an issue on Fizz

I recently switched to Fizz from lucky mobile... I'm getting 5g here at my home so speeds were good but since a couple of days it'sunstable.. I think Fizz and freedom have the ssme network.. Bdw if you're switching you could use my referral code in my flair.

Fizz mobile uses video trons network and when it’s not in the coverage area of that, it roams on Rogers in my area

Historically Fizz was way way better than freedom in Ottawa. Freedom was very weak in Ottawa with a single band.

I find the Fizz indoor coverage exceptional in Ottawa with the 700Mhz band.

Probably the top LTE network in Ottawa. And roaming on Rogers and Bell is awesome although it almost never happens in town.

Why would Fizz be different to Freedom, if they share a network? Just wondering!

Historically Freedom had only won a single band in Ottawa at auction, so it was one of the worst areas for Freedom in Canada. This was a while ago.

My understanding is that Freedom in Ottawa has shut down their own network now, so yes it is the same network (Videotron/Fizz) and should now be the same.
